You don't need a DV capture box if you have a miniDV camera. As I understand it the Pyro A/V is an analog to digital convertor (correct me if I'm wrong). Since you have a miniDV camera it's already digital and you just need to connect the camera to a firewire port in your PC. You can use something like WinDV to capture DV. It's a nice small simple program.

The law says they have the right to shoot them, no that they have to shoot them. Any rational person wouldn't shoot a tresspasser on sight unless they saw a weapon (or recognized the person as a dangerous individual). Hunters may still need to watch where they step, but surveying the terrain is part of any good hunter's preparation. Yes, but the law is the same for people who don't think rationally.
Lets say your girlfriend cheats on you with your best friend. You can invite them over and shoot them dead when they walk onto your property.

But anyway, I looked up the law and it seems more nuanced then just being able to shoot anyone:

"Senate Bill 378 extends a person’s right to stand their ground beyond the home to vehicles and workplaces, allowing the reasonable use of deadly force when an intruder is:
- Committing certain violent crimes, such as murder or sexual assault, or is attempting to commit such crimes;
- Unlawfully trying to enter a protected place; or
- Unlawfully trying to remove a person from a protected place.
The law also provides civil immunity for a person who lawfully uses deadly force in the above circumstances. The use of deadly force is not lawful when it is used to provoke or if a crime other than a Class C misdemeanor is committed by the victim.

I think it's an excellent law. I wish we had something like that in the Netherlands.

I believe compression issues only occur when a pisspoor compression job is done. Lots of dvds have blockyness in fast moving scenes. That just fucking sucks especially when watching movies on a big screen or beamer. When I compress home movies I use a 10 pass CCE encode with a maximum bitrate. No blockyness whatsoever. If the studios did proper encode jobs there wouldn't be a problem. But lots of retail dvds show artifacts because the studios are lazy.

Adamwankenobi was a troll and he was banned for good reasons. But it sounds to me he just wrote Dayv an email to piss him of. If he really wanted to contact Dayv's 6 year old daugther would he do it by emailing Dayv?
Also, everybody knew AWK had issues and the case was closed years ago. So I don't see what good it is to bring this up again and brag about it.

I don't know, I think the mpeg2 compression is the least of the GOUT's problems. It actually has very little compression artifacts in my opinion. Even in fast moving scenes like the trench run there's hardly any mpeg2 related blockiness to be found.

By the way, what are your opinions on the impending invasion of the poop people from the planet Vagthatch? The government has known about it for years. They received a transmission from the Vagthatch military sometime around the turn of the century, and have kept it under wraps since then. The transmission said something to the effect of "we are coming to kill you, just wait". I think this is very irresponsible of our government not to inform the people about this. They have been developing an IPBM (Interplanetary Ballistic Missile) with nuclear capabilities in order to take these guys out when they come to get us, but many of us feel that the repercussions of this bomb may be more severe than the enslavement/harvesting/death/etc. that the poop people have planned for us. The world deserves to know about this. Myself and others are convinced that we can come up with a better solution to this problem, violence is not the answer. We need to use diplomacy or reason with the Vagthatchian poop peoples, this is a HUGE problem, but an even bigger problem is that nobody will admit this problem exists!!!

An IPBM sounds like something we should develop. You never know when it comes in handy.
