2006 PAL DVDs to anamorphic - correct dimensions
Time
ADM's parameters are no bullshit but probably for NTSC res.

I think most PAL 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen movies have a picture resolution of 720 x 432. But a differs a bit (430-440) and it's not alsways 2.35:1 but sometimes 2.40:1.
In avisynth you can crop and resize Star Wars like this:
crop(0,124,0,-126)
Lanczos4resize(720,432)
addborders(0,72,0,72)

(Since the non-anamorphic video res is about 720 x 326 resizing to 720 x 434 may be more accurate (borders should be 71))

Edit: if you want to use a sharpening filter use it before you add the borders to avoid this weird white line around the edges of the image. also if you change the contrast or anythin do it before you add borders.

I guess Democrats also think they are God approved (well, the ones who are religious ofcourse). Anyway, I think you should keep church and state seperate.

Edit: That's funny by the way, I heard last week on the news officially all congressmen believe in God. Statistically speaking that's almost impossibly if congress reflects society. But is true in the US it's bad for you career when you openly admit you don't believe in God?

Sluggo's Star Wars Trailer Contest *Next contest begins April 25th*
Time
I think a trailer should make you want to watch the movie without giving anything away (or even set you off on the wrong foot). When watching your trailer Jambe, I really want to see the movie again. And you don't give anything away unlike some other trailers that even have the death star explosion in it. There are even trailers that contain the best action scenes of a movie. The music and image match perfectly. I was a tiny bit too long though maybe.

I was born in America within the 70s and 80s, but for some reason was not circumcised. My dad was suppose to take me and he made it all the way to the hospital, but for some reason that he has never explained, he didn't have it done. My mom was upset because she was afraid it would always be getting infected (never had that problem in the slightest). Circumcised guys always say they are happy they are cut because they don't want to worry about maintenance, but I have never had any trouble, and any of my European buddies always laugh when they hear American guys say this. In the end it is a cultural thing I guess. But the question is why is it part of American culture?

Cassidy said: "Honestly, it's a practice dating back centuries and most kids (who I assume make up the demographic here) born in the 70's and 80's were circumcised.

It wasn't until it became unfashionable with all this pseudo hippy bullshit parenting in the 90's that the practice started being frowned upon. Personally, I'm just glad I don't have to worry about...uh...maintenance."

Hmm, so is this not as common in America anymore? I thought most kids were still circumcised. I have never heard of the pseudo hippy movement on circumcision, the whole idea is never something I thought about much until I lived in Europe, then I started to think how odd it was that Americans continue this ancient religious practice when at the same time they claim to be the most medically advanced society in the world (and no doubt they are). There is the argument that it is for hygienic reasons, but that really doesn't stand up that well. Especially in a country where taking a bath/shower everyday is common practice.

I could be wrong but I think in America it dates back to the time when masturbation was taboo and I guess without foreskin it's more difficult for children to masturbate.

It's not a cultural thing Americans brought from Europe.

Ehmm stinky, it's no upgrade...
"It doesn't take much to realize that nature didn't intend the foreskin and the penis to be separated at birth. Try retracting the foreskin of a newborn's penis and you're struck by the steadfast, tenacious grip it has on the glans, or head. The foreskin is sealed to its bounty like a silo, and only slowly, over the years, yields to full retractability. But it's far more than just a sheath. The foreskin contains thousands of highly sensitive sensory receptors called Meissner corpuscles, which are more abundant there than in any other part of the penis. Richly endowed with a profusion of blood vessels, it also has a ridged band of peripenic muscles that protects the urinary tract from contaminants, and an undersurface lined with mucocutaneous tissue found nowhere else on the body, which contains ectopic glands that produce natural emollients and antibacterial proteins similar to those found in mother's milk. With its frenar ridges and its thousands of nerve endings, the foreskin not only protects the glans, which in an intact male is extremely sensitive, it also accounts for roughly one-third of the penis' sexual perceptivity. In short, evolution has seen to it that the penises of all mammals come protected in a remarkably fine-tuned and responsive foreskin."

This used to be (is) common practice in the US?!?! For all boys?!?!?

Wow... just, wow...

I never knew this. It's so weird. It's just like C3PX said, if it's because of religion you know why, but everyone else?

Star Wars Unified DVD Covers Project
Time
I don't really like the format of these covers because it doesn't really remind me of star wars. Wouldn't it be much cooler to have all star wars related covers in this format with the fox logo at the top and the THX and LucaFilm logos at the bottom and STAR WARS + title (and episode number) in the middle? I think every spine should have the text and logos in gold.

DVD Decryptor + Womble DVD Video Wizard = bad audio?
Time
What is a .vob audio file? An audio file shouldn't have a .vob extension.
Do you use dvddecrypter to demultiplex the vobs (stream processing)?

I tried demultiplexing directly from dvd with dvddecrypter but I sometimes got header errors or something with the ac3 files (I can't remeber exactly, it was a long time ago). So now I always rip the vobs to my hdd and demultiplex them using vobedit. Works like a charm, never had an error.

Yes, you can and it should play without an issue. The easiest way to do it is using DGPulldown. Select "Custom", enter 23.976 --> 25, leave the rest of the options at default values and just click on "Convert".

Yep! I tried it. I had a 25 fps progressive m2v file, opened it with DGPulldown, used the custom settings 23.976 --> 25 and converted it. The original and converted files have exactly the same size. Then I muxed with NTSC audio burned it and it played as a normal dvd.

I will try and let you know if it works
had those, the first Widescreen releases of Star Wars on VHS in the UK, CBS/Fox did transfers like that all the time.
Predator and Aliens: Special Edition were like this also, terrible picture quality. They got severly critised in some film magazines and changed to proper 25fps PAL releases eventually. Buena Vista/Disney, always used to do this on VHS releases of their animated films as well.

Was the picture quality bad because of the pulldown or was it just bad?
