I have successfully ruled out the hard drive's being the issue.  It might be the length of the clips.   I have no clips of comparable length to hand and don't fancy ripping two versions of a similar length film to my hard drive to test it out.    I'm about ready to give up, to be honest.

Option: Render with ColourLikeFBF in several (2? 3?) smaller pieces to an intermediate lossless format (e.g., Lagarith) and then do a second render that includes joining the pieces together.

Well, the fact that I have rainbow in the Snell&Wilcox both wih still and moving pictures, and I use the NTSC Video Essential laserdisc!!!

Are you using the P/PC (America/Canada) model of the ES10/ES15? It's NTSC-only.

The other models have a different video processing chip. You can verify this by looking at the service manuals on elektrotanya.com.

Take a look at this post, second image: as my ES15 have the same chipset of the ES10, it seems its comb filter has very low quality...

I should find a new capture card! Or, find the way to let the phase-inversion trick to work...

Unfortunately, I think I was wrong with the phase-inversion trick. :-(

Also, the ES10/ES15 is the best 3D comb filter I've ever seen for NTSC material. I don't know how well it does on PAL material, however.

Don't you can use the Soundboard on the official Star Wars  homepage for some parts of the dialogue, original CDs or Vinyls for music and some other source for sound-effects and combine it with original LD-sound, to recreate the movie-sound on your own?

What would be the benefit of doing that?

Creating an audio-file with more than two channels, to recreate some version of an original cinema sound, which don't exist anymore?

Star Wars premiered in 1977 with a mono soundtrack (35mm), a 4-channel (matrix-encoded) Dolby Stereo soundtrack (35mm), and a 6-channel Dolby "baby boom" soundtrack (70mm).

So which one do you consider to be "original"?

I know it sounds like I'm being a pain, but I'd rather not.

That's fine. You're not being a pain.

Do `a' and `b' have the same number of frames? Are they both in the same color-space (RGB32)? Does a.info() and b.info() look more-or-less the same?

Try experimenting with two different (shorter!) sources. Are you still experiencing the same problem?

AntcuFaalb said: OK. Does it work with AvsPmod's "analysis pass"?

The analysis pass begins but stops at around the same point that Virtualdub stops rendering, judging by the progress bar.

I don't use Avisynth MT, so I don't think I can be using more than one thread.

Would you mind posting your entire script here?

This is getting very interesting...

Well, I tried rendering the script on another computer, and the same error occurs.  I guess this filter doesn't like me.  Are you guys using ColourLike_25Aug05.dll and feeding it RGB32?

I haven't yet had the chance to test rendering a ColourLikeFBF-containing script.

Here's a quick question: Does ColourLikeFBF work with AvsPmod's preview?

Ady... I really dig your flaps.

Stop hitting on Ady. He's a married man ;-)

It's true, that does sound like a little innuendo, coming from a man named Bingowings.

If I offered you something hot with one lump or two you guys would look for a double meaning.

Hot with one lump or two... and flaps... and your sister's quiche?!

team negative1 - star wars 1977 - 35mm theatrical version (Released)

Ah, the GOUT. How I love thee...

It has one redeeming feature; that is, it's an easy-to-acquire/distribute reference for all of our work here.

I'd be surprised if -1's project isn't GOUT-synced already (after removing all of the leaders/etc. from the beginning, of course).

LFL went all-out in promoting that the DC would have "all the frames" and "more frames than ever before seen" in 1993.

Maybe they are like M.V. and will never release it?  Or maybe they just like taking pictures of prints they buy.  I have been going through the forums and wow this has been going on for a long time.  It's either fake or these guys have real, real dedication.  I applaud them.  If it comes out I'm sure it will be awesome.

FWIW, I'm privy to enough "behind the scenes" stuff to convince me that this effort is 100% real.

A New Hope DVD Color Correction (*unfinished project * - a mass of information)

I've never worked with Avisynth before, but shouldn't that program have all the functionality of Premiere?

A few Google searches pulled up this:

http://neuron2.net/www.math.berkeley.edu/benrg/avisynth-premiere.html

So if I understand it correctly, you could use Premiere as the editing program, and output in Avisynth. I think?

Yes, but that still doesn't give you the ability to share your color correction here as a simple text file that we all can use and modify to our liking.

This is one of the biggest strengths of Avisynth, as it's more-or-less a programming language for video work.
