As a few of you know I won a JSC set on eBay.  I got it for $87.00 including shipping.

Cool thing is, ANH & ROTJ are still sealed.

I am guessing from what I've read here that this is a great set to have.  Can I now get rid of my DC set?

Thanks

IMO, it's better than the DC, so I'd say yes.

Still, it might be worthwhile to keep...

They are from different masters, correct?

Well, to the best of my knowledge...

ANH: Same master as Technidisc-pressed SWE LD, but DVNR'd

TESB: Same master as JSC/SWE, but DVNR'd

ROTJ: Same master as JSC/SWE, but DVNR'd

So this set carries no DVNR?  LOL

The JSC has no DVNR at all. That's why many consider it to be the best.

Thank you, I must have got screwed, the damn APD-1 does not turn on and all I get is a bunch of frickin noise so I guess ac3 ripping is out of the question, I knew I should have tried this damn thing out when I got it a couple months ago.

Thanks again

I'll look around to see if I can find something cheap.

You might want to ask around on LDDb to see if there's a simple fix.

Actually I have just been chatting with Duncan and I am going to send it to him, hopefully he can fix it for me, but thanks for helping me out here, I am sure I will have more questions when I get it back working.

OK, no problem!

Orange flags......

What does this mean?  Please be kind.

I think he's referring to the red Nazi flags looking orange on the BD.

It was changed to gold to match Kingdom, it is not the 1980's timing at all

Is that including the impact that an 80s projection bulb would have on the colortiming?

Sorry to bring this old thread up again but now that I have ripping DTS and Digital PCM down I am ready to rip ac3, I need to rip the ac3 track from Maximum Overdrive, I have the Digital PCM and damn does it sound great and makes up a kick ass custom 5.1, but I really want the ac3 track for our upcoming release as well, I have a Pioneer CLD-79 Elite and the Yamaha APD-1, what I really need to know is how do I hook this up lol, I know that with DTS and PCM you rip with 44.1\16 and with ac3 it is 48\16 already but I can figure out something as simple as how do I hook this baby up lol.

Thanks

*edit, looking at this more it looks like I use my optical out from the APD-1 to my M-Audio device but what cable do I use from the Pioneer to my APD-1? will just any RCA cable work? does it matter if it is an audio red\blue or the yellow video? or is it an all together different cable?

I believe any RCA cable will work. You might want to get a nice quality Mogami one if you're looking for durability.

The hookup should be like this...

Here it is!

Oh, I used DoubleWeave().Pulldown(0,2) and DoubleWeave().Pulldown(1,4). Yours covers it across the changes and glitch. Cool.

The frame I referred to before is combed though (vertically misaligned). 98785 after your trim and IVTC. Related, the frame before it is missing.

Weird! I'm not seeing it. Can you post a screenshot? Wait, I see it now.

I'm going to try to generate the missing frame using MFlowInter. I'll see what I can do about the combed frame.

Do you notice any other glitches?

drngr: OK, I busted-out some manual IVTC action. I used DGIndex to generate the d2v and chose "Honor Pulldown Flags".

It, again, found the field order transition errors and I told DGIndex to fix them. I then used the fixed d2v (rather than the d2v.bad) and did my manual IVTC.

I used IsCombedIVTC (from TIVTC) with ConditionalFilter to check for residual combing (indicating a pattern break) and told it to output a red-colored frame whenever it detects any.

I'm not seeing any red-colored frames with the fixed d2v, but I see lots with the d2v.bad.

Here's my short script: http://pastebin.com/5UCZcPq1

Please execute it and let me know if you get the same results.

Resizing to 720p should effectively blur the aliasing. The glitches themselves aren't fixed by correcting field order transitions.

Damn. Do you happen to have any frame-numbers I can check?

My frame numbers are with Honor Pulldown Flags and then a manual IVTC attempt.

99465 (1:09:08). I also have a note saying "video glitches when Neo turns and tries to shoot agent that dodges" which I assume refers to 1:46:14, but I don't see anything wrong there at a casual glance now.

79962 is where one pattern break happens (at a scene change).

Would you be interested in working on IVTCing this together?

Two heads are better than one and all that...

Too bad.  It's incredibly useful for things like keeping track of what you eat, since you (well, me at least) always have it with you.  And there are apps just for that purpose.

Oh, and you can post on ot.com from almost anywhere.  Helps get the old post count up to 30,000....

The #1 reason I don't have a smartphone is that I'm not permitted (legally) to bring it into work, so I'd have to leave it in my hot car all day.

My LG VX9900 handles this abuse rather well.

OK, the following image is one of the worst in the entire HDTV cap. The macroblocking is terrible, but I believe it's significantly harder to see when softlight-overlaid with an accurate 35mm grain plate.

http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/48037

The 35mm grain plate used here was generated from real 35mm film stock. IMO, it's too coarse. I'm working on getting a finer one.

Nice job with the grain overlay, i like it.

Thanks. IMO, it does a really good job of hiding the macroblocking.

Andrea: It also does wonders at hiding noise in LD captures! :-)
