My idea is a Godfather-like crime boss whose organization fled to the Outer Rim under the harsh rule of the Empire, but now seeks to undermine the fledgling new Republic. His son is strong in the Force and has learned the ways of the dark side from ancient Sith artifacts and seeks to supplant his father.
I like this idea.

OK, I pass you the duty... I use my S-VHS too as "simple" VHS player - I don't record tapes from a long time ago - and I think it's superior than a normal VHS recorder; well, post a link to the thread you are going to start, and I'll post something there ASAP.

Let’s discuss non-Star Wars VHS preservation projects here.

We should start a S-VHS thread now, don't you think?
Yes, but I'd just call it a VHS thread. Most of us around here use S-VHS players to play VHS tapes rather than S-VHS ones.
Suggestion: For Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, change...

Off-topic (to this thread, at least): Do you plan to do a capture of that bootleg Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs VHS you have?
Leonardo, I think your NV-FS200 is the same of my NV-FS88, but yours has the TBC, IIRC... not a problem nowadays, if I need to capture VHS, I'll pass the output through a DVD recorder, and it will stabilizy the picture, right AntcuuFaalb?
I'm staying a bit off-topic too... why Snow White on VHS is so special? Is not the laserdisc - especially box set - better?
Every single home video release of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs went through Disney's infamous re-animation process. This involves a lot of digital manipulation and results in a final product that doesn't look much like the original film. Read about this here: http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Recommended-Editions-of-Disney-Animated-and-Partially-Animated-Features/post/644607/#TopicPost644607
The Italian bootleg VHS was dumped straight from a film print.
Also, if the NV-FS200 is anything like the AG-1980, then it's not just the TBC that's different. The AG-1980 is a much more robust machine than the AG-1970, for instance. It's capable of tracking even the worst VHS tapes (including PS78!).

Lol, the request for Snow White arrived way earlier than I thought!
lol! It's a rare gem.
I saw one on eBay.it a while back, but didn't have the spare $50 to throw at it. Furthermore, I don't have a PAL VCR, so...

It's not.
Ah, damn. I got all excited!

Unfortunately, due to my recent hard drive crash, I'm unable to do anything other than hooking it up to the tv and watch the pretty pictures. And they really are pretty! :)
Oh, yeah, about the preservation currently on the Spleen: there should be a couple of people trying to download it right now. Sorry, folks. Can't seed at the moment. :(
Nice! That's the PAL version of the AG-1980, right?

The quality here is astounding. Many thanks to the OP. The Special is a bizarre, but significant piece of television.
Wait... is v2 up on MySpleen?

The video is from the 1995 release, how could it include SE changes?
Ah, I didn't realize that.
Well, I'm glad it wasn't my comment! ^_^

I believe this tear is also on Harmy's The Empire Strikes Back Despecialized Edition, and on Star Wars Despecialized Edition v1.0, but that was fixed in v2.0.
Which tear?
The tear that runs across the 0 in the Fox logo at the start of Episode IV in the GOUT.
Oh, that's not a tear. It's part of a strand of hair.
I'm not kidding.

Unlike Z, FUNimation never received film masters for that show. The blue bricks are cleaned up digibeta masters - with mixed success. They're grain-scrubbed, which results in a bit of blurriness, but in some cases it does look better than their two-disc sets from beforehand (if you're not a stickler about the Japanese title cards.)
In fact I think FUNimation had to request film for Z, I'm pretty sure their originalsingles came from tapes too...
Man... yuck...
FUNimation always seems to fuck up Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z releases.
Even when they get it right, they get it wrong.
I own the Blue Brick set.
There's rainbowing?! Was it taken from a composite source?

I noticed that this official video uses GOUT, not blu-ray.

George Lucas is one of the finest storytellers in the film world. He has changed a lot since the days of the Star Wars prequels. I think this video shows exactly how George Lucas has had a change of heart, where Disney wants the Star Wars franchise to go, and that the beauty of the original films may be seen in the sequel trilogy; there is great respect for the impact of the first Star Wars film here in this video.
Also, the battle of Yavin footage is from the unaltered release of the film. This shows that something is happening at Lucasfilm, something big.

Now on a MySpleen near you...
When people post those thumbnail shots like that, is there supposed to be a secret way we are able to see the shots at full size? Or is it supposed to just be a teaser kind of thing?
Because I see them a lot in our little "bootleg circles" and I've only once seen a link to the full sized shots to accompany them.
I don't think so. It's generated by the quick-and-dirty "Make a Thumbnail" function that comes with Media Player Classic.
Wow, it looks great!
Is Soylent Green more green or is the original DVD washed-out? http://www.greatadventurehistory.com/index.html

Who should the villain(s) of the sequel trilogy be? (if the sequel trilogy has villains)
A new vile gangster like Jabba the Hutt or Sise Fromm.

Does anyone have the LD?
Some LDDb people claim that the color-timing was changed for the DVD and that the LD has the original color-timing.
I doubt anyone does it is silly expensive
I know some people on LDDb do. What frames should I ask them to capture or photograph?
From LDDb:

When the DVD version of the film was released, the colors and contrast were slightly tweaked, for example, more scenes have a green tint. The LD is the untouched edition as seen theatrically.
