Now I'm picturing George pitching his idea for AOTC of a Jedi in a wheelchair (or Star-Warsy surrogate) and his YesMen coming out of their wov of silence with a collective "Noooooo".
lol
Why does no one eat breads?
Why does no one build sheds?
Why does no one screw heads?
...
Your turn!

How can I get access to MySpleen if I may ask?
First, retrieve a knife. Next, cut a hole in your belly. Finally, ...

Those images remind me of the Extreme Ghostbusters.
At this small scale, there's so much individual variation (different species, different ages, differently-colored lightsabers, etc.) that it looks artificial, forced, and manufactured.
(Plus, the colors of the lightsabers don't contrast well with the sandy terrain, cheapening the "coolness" of the effect.)
I think we can improve The Matrix by separately regrading the in-the-matrix and in-the-real-world scenes.
I believe that the post-production team did this instead of regarding shot-by-shot.

I get the same thing. Almost like a hiccup that will freeze a frame for a split second and then go forward 2-3 frames.
Kind of like when your PC is pegged on CPU and is constantly trying to play catch up.
Weird! Can you try it in a DVD player?
I won't be able to look until very late tonight.

Are ya'll happy with the latest release or should I put in time to get something more "polished"?
I figure it's primarily a historical curiosity as well as a source of information for things like the cue marks, etc.
When i mount this on vlc i notice some tiny skips throughout the film, is this just my computer, or a syncing thing on the copy or from the original? It's not a dealbreaker. Just curious.
Skips? Are you describing when the video jumps up and down?
The transfer is quite wobbly.

In the age of Blu-Ray, I still don't understand why anyone would do a DVD-9 HD version in 2013. BD-25s aren't that expensive. Now, of course, BD-50s are still through the roof unless you import from Japan, but that's another story.
Not everyone has the $60+ to drop on a burner.
It gets even more expensive when you need a SATA3->USB3 external enclosure because you only have a laptop, etc.

Just wanted to tell you guys that I've gotten a couple requests to share the VHS screener I have on VCD. Check myspleen and it'll appear soon.
Nice! Thanks!!!

Correction: Further registration tests have led me to choose exactly 1.75:1 as the DAR.
Also, FWIW, excluding the unmatted parts, I'm not seeing much more detail in this when compared side-by-side by the DVD.

Certainly.
OK, cool!
I'm mostly working on being 100% sure that the shot-changes are aligned. Everything seems perfect so far.
I can send you a rough copy of my Avisynth script tonight, if you'd like.

I wish to understand.
I'm biased by the fact that ROTJ is my favorite SW film.
... and The Last Crusade is my favorite Indiana Jones film.
Interestingly enough, Back to the Future II is my favorite of that trilogy.
My ratings are based on the amount of excitement I feel before hitting play. They're also based on how happy I am when the credits start to roll.
I watch movies/TV for the characters first and the storytelling second. This might explain why I only recently noticed the lack of creativity in the aliens of ST:TNG.

Does anybody else think that they might not have Sith in the sequel trilogy so that people don't think of "unliiiiimited powaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!"?
I hope there aren't any Sith in the new films.
I'm sick of this Jedi vs. X (where X wants to destroy the Jedi) bullshit.

The more I think about it, the more I realize I don't want there to be any red lightsabers in Episode VII.
I'll raise you...
I don't want to see more than two lightsabers in any single frame. I'll walk the fuck out if I do.
The PT ruined lightsabers for me.

Snow White- Leonardo has a pre-restoration bootleg VHS with perhaps the most accurate colors (substantially different than any post restoration version, though I agree BD appears to be the best of a bad bunch)

Good idea! Let's talk about your preservation of the 82 rental tape :)
You have the really good Panasonic AG-1980 VCR, I can't wait to see how good this awesome cassette will look.
I can do a quick-and-dirty Panasonic AG-1980 =(s-video)=> Panasonic DMR-ES10 DVD recording this weekend, if you'd like.
