Least said about Jack (1996) the better.
I enjoyed Jack (1996).
Hook (1991) is clearly the best, however.

So, such a file could basically make sure, that whoever downloads will first need to own the BD? That sound like a good idea, except that would mean that the person would have to have a BD drive in their computer and it would also probably take ages for a slower computer to do it.
Yep, but there's no guarantee that their rip will be bit-for-bit identical to yours since some BD ripping programs screw with the stream headers, etc. You'd have to post which program you used as well as a checksum for your file.
Also, it's likely that the binary diff would be bigger than just distributing the file outright. Binary diff-and-patch schemes really only make sense when there are very few changes to the original file.

Absolutely no infringement.
Also, a binary diff-and-patch (e.g., xdelta) would likely be considered a "derivative work" in a US court of law.
It reduces to a "bit coloring" problem: http://ansuz.sooke.bc.ca/entry/23

Basically it's a differences file, which, when applied to file 1, changes it into file 2. This one converts from DeEd v1 to DeEd v2.
It's also an interesting idea for distributing fan edits if Disney starts coming down hard on them. Just distribute xdeltas that convert the Blu-rays to the DeEds. Absolutely no infringement.
I think, in this case, that it doesn't convert DeEd v1 into DeEd v2 (even though this is most certainly possible), but rather from the uncorrected v2 release to the corrected one: v2->v2'.
One thing to consider, ladies and gentlemen, is that the word "quality" means different things to different people.
The Predator Ultimate Hunter Edition BD exists for a reason, folks...

Afaik there are no major differences between the 16mm and 35mm mixes right?
If that were the case, then the 16mm mono mix wouldn't be called a "mix", but instead a "fold-down" and nobody would give a shit about it...
I guess it depends on what you'd consider to be a "major difference".

Sorry if it has been answered before, but does commentary for visually impaired exist for ESB and ROTJ?

The AMC version was broadcast in 5.1, so I DO have a 5.1 track for all the extra scenes.
Was this 5.1 mix created from separate elements or is it just an up-mix from the 1.0?
Harmy said:
I also realized, that in v2.5 of SW, I had the '85 LD mix as well - was the '85 mix of ESB different in any way? Or in other words, is it worth searching for and including?
Nope: http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/ESB-ROTJ-Audio-Mixes/post/666928/#TopicPost666928

IT's AMAZING what can be done with a movie released in 1980!
You should check out the Metropolis blu-ray to see what can be done with a movie released in 1927!

I still haven't seen any of the SEs.
Lucky!
Not for long. I'm going with my wife to see a 35mm showing of the 97SE (ANH) at the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center on the 30th of this month.
I hope you know enough about the changes to let us know if it was really the 97 version when you get back. I'm not totally convinced it won't be the 2011.
I'll look at doubleofive's gallery (again) before going.

What if we just...didn't post in the thread until there was more to say about the topic?
This is why I think we need a webchat here. It does wonders for AMPS.

I guess my post couldn't be last forever... AntuFaalb, I'm impressed you actually haven't seen any of the SE versions this whole time.
It wasn't planned, mind you. Prior to purchasing the GOUT in 2010, I hadn't seen Star Wars in years and years.

all I had was the faces tapes until '04.
Same for me except it was 2010 when I purchased the GOUT DVDs. I still haven't seen any of the SEs.

Inasmuch as you're stressing a mechanical device beyond its normal operating range - the disc will have to turn 3-4x its normal speed.
Not if the player takes time to fill a big fat buffer before displaying anything.
Your assessment assumes that the read portion of the read-decode-display loop acts in concert with the drive, but this is usually not the case.

And every web critic out there keeps talking about how awful they are. They are often mentioned in the same breath as Batman and Robin and the Transformers movies. My close friends all like them but Darth Ender's post was the first time I had seen anything positive about them online and it seems most people cite them as proof that Peter Jackson is a no talent hack who got lucky with the Lord of the Rings films. So yeah I would say they are under rated.
You probably haven't seen my posts, then. I like the The Hobbit movies a lot more than the LotR movies.

Well atleast they note a difference between the SE OT and the OUT. I'd hate a "it's already available" sort of response.
I agree. I think this is a good (albeit minor) step forward.

Seeing as how I'm not female, I found it a little condescending. You wouldn't call a couple of women boys. At least I don't.
True, but Anchorhead had no way of knowing your gender when he wrote his post.

First of all, a huge thanks to everyone here for their work in their efforts to restore the past glory that is the Original Trilogy, and other fan edits and restorations. I do have a question though. I am totally blind, and am interested in finding English audio only lossless files of the various edits of the original trilogy, mono, stereo, commentary, descriptive tracks, etc, all pre-special edition. If there is an updated topic here I'm not finding, or if someone has, or can compile these somewhere, you'll have my eternal gratitude. Thank you so much.
You might be interested in schorman13's Star Wars Laserdisc Audio Archive.

Did he just say it's an insult to be called a girl?
Indeed.
Star Wars: I enjoy 3 more than 1 and 1 more than 2. «3 1 2»
Indiana Jones: I enjoy 3 more than 1 and 1 more than 2. «3 1 2»
Back to the Future: I enjoy 2 more than 1 and 1 more than 3. «2 1 3»
Ghostbusters: I enjoy 2 as much as 1. I hope a 3rd is made with Rick Moranis (partially) filling the hole left by Harold Ramis.
