The analog hole is fine as I plan to downscale it anyway (better color than the Dragon Box).

FWIW, I'm only really interested in episode 35.

I am now 100% convinced that this is the original mono mix. Cue marks are present that indicate a 35mm release print (nobody was scanning 70mm in the LD days) and since LD supports stereo audio there'd be no reason to fold down a 2.0 source. Score!

I fell asleep during AotC and I didn't see RotS until it came out on DVD.

Well, not soon, but I am capturing right now. I plan to release this with the 5.1 70mm mix from the 1997 DVD and the 2.0 (down?)mix from the other side.

Indeed. I unfortunately discovered this after hunting down 3 Technidisc pressings of each movie in the trilogy: 9 LDs in total! Ugh!

I've been trying to revive alt.video.laserdisc.

I'm not a Reddit fanboy. I chose to move AMPS there because of how hands-off they are and how quick-and-easy it was to setup. Plus, free SSL! Woohoo!

With that being said, I think Reddit is a decent Usenet(discussions) replacement.
