Well, it's not like there aren't other adaptations out there. ;)

All of them are probably a hundred times more faithful than Jackson's cash-grab sodomy, designed to piss off all Tolkein fans. No one can like the book and the movies at the same time.

I haven't seen the this film (The Battle of Five Armies) yet, but I'm a big fan of the The Hobbit as well as the two Peter Jackson films of it that I've seen so far.

And I like The Hobbit much more than any of the three LotR books.

And I like the two Peter Jackson The Hobbit movies I've seen so far much more than any of the three LotR films.

So what now? Am I not a "true fan" of Tolk(ei|ie)n? Good.

Well, given that you prefer Jackson's versions to Tolkien's....

Ah, I didn't word that clearly enough. Here's a better expression of my preferences:

([The Hobbit book] ≈ [The Hobbit movies]) > [LotR movies] >> [LotR books]

Seriously, we're stuck in the Usenet era :p.

You could search Usenet by running grep over the articles you chose to download with your client. Downloading all of the articles in a newsgroup and then running grep on them gave you full newsgroup search. This is how Kibo performed his magic.

I sometimes like to think that Frink is Kibo.

So, no official line on this? I have to admit that the rumor sounded too good to be true, but I guess we'll see. I'd comb the thread, but the forum software is still such that I can't go through my old posts and then align to where they are in threads like I can on most other forums, follow a user, search for specific things, etc, and have come to the conclusion that this is just the software we're going to be stuck with :p. I'm just popping back in, I guess. It's late, hopefully this post is semi-coherent.

Nothing definitive yet, unfortunately. :o/

Well, the teaser trailer is already linked to in the OP, so number one is taken care of (or will be, once it's downloaded). Naturally, however, it's the one we need to worry about the least, since it's almost certain to be kept up and put on Blu-Rays for years to come.

Can you think of anything for 6.+?

Ah, of course. Webpages aren't very permanent, I guess. Well, assembling them all into one spot would be a start. It would then be easy just to follow the links systematically and download the files. I would be willing to make a copy if people worked on assembling the links to them.

Let's try to come up with a list first before we do that.

1. HD teaser trailer

2. leaked concept art

3. leaked set photos?

4. UNICEF Videos

5. JJ's appearance on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver

6. ???

Looks like the latest video for the UNICEF is online and it reveals a noticeably older Chewie! Unlike that image a while back we thought he'd look like (in there I didn't think he was "aged" enough), here his eyes look aged with more white around on his face, just like how an older dog would show age - I think he looks perfect now.

Please, please, please tell me there's someone here collecting all of this stuff: the teaser trailer (in HD); the UNICEF videos; the appearance on John Oliver; the leaked concept art.

If not, then can we get something going?

If other people do most of the collecting, I'll stick it all in the first post so it's easy to find. It might be a bit much for one person to do, so I propose that everyone takes a certain range of pages (and lets us know which ones) and compiles all the links/pictures into one post, which I will then add to the OP.

I'll take pages 1-5 for now.

I meant the actual files rather than just hyperlinks to them.

It'd be cool to have them all in one shared folder.

Looks like I'll be out of the loop, then... I make it a habit to NOT visit Reddit.

Do you not like the UI/UX or does it have to do with their hands-off-until-the-shit-hits-the-fan policy like with e.g., /r/underage and /r/TheFappening?

Can you please consider visiting for just one subreddit? You're a valued member and it would be a shame to lose you.
