THE TITANIC [Titanic Restructured] (Released)

Now this is somethig I want to see! Are you going to fix the pacing/runtime of the film? I just thought the film was too long.

Cheers, brother! Encouraging words!

Yes, the pacing will be vastly different. The ship hits the iceberg around the 1 hour and 30-minute mark, rather than the 2-hours mark, but the runtime might actually end up not changing too much, due to the re-incorporation of some of the (very important) deleted scenes, as well as some borrowed scenes from a movie called “Saving the Titanic”.

It will be more intense and high-paced; at least that’s the goal.

THE TITANIC [Restructured]

One of my absolute favorite movies, from a nostalgic and technical standpoint. This is not a movie that necessarily need anything done. It doesn’t need a remake. It doesn’t need to be remade. It doesn’t have many problems. It is an historical film with the liberty of adding a working romance into it to intruige its audience and connect them to the disaster that changed the world back in 1912, and that still haunt us to this day.

So why do I do it? I do it because I want to make a kind of V2 version of the movie for those that feel like watching a more “disaster movie/suspense movie” side to the story, rather than the more romance-driven side of it. Simply focus more on humanity and passengers during the sinking; the second half.

VIDEO PREVIEWS:

1. THE NARRATIVE

I want to focus on the story of the Titanic in 1912 - not the additional story set to 1997, and the sinking of the ship. I want to focus on the humanity. I want to focus on the brutality. And I want to put the tragedy in focus. I want us to see how the people - not just Jack and Rose, dealt with the disaster, and how the rich felt for the poor, and how the poor felt for the rich. There is so much kindness and humanity along with the brutality of this story, and much of it is in the narrative already - but overshadowed by the focus on Jack and Rose. And much of it is in the deleted scenes.

I want us to start with the beauty and luxurity of the Ship - just like the original, and the awe shared among all passengers. But I will focus much more on the ship and all its passengers as the tragedy unfolds, rather than keep overshadowing it by the love story of our two main characters. So instead of having Jack and Rose be the driving force and heart of the movie through all of it, I want the ship to be that emotional tool when the tragedy start to unfold, and Jack and Rose more as victims. So we expand the story into three parts in the second half;

  • Jack and Rose’s story.
  • The Ship’s continious sinking.
  • The people.

2. THE CHANGES BEYOND

As for the other changes that I will make, they will be fixes in form of;

  • Continuity.
  • Some digitial effects that might look odd will be fixed, or effects that might actually be missing from the scene (blood, lightning bolts, explosions) will be added.
  • Sound effects and music. The music is pretty much perfect - man i love the score, but I have one idea for an alteration during the sinking. As for the sound effects - they also are pretty much perfect. But I want to add some brutality at certain parts throughout the movie. I want it to feel very claustrophobic, like many of the third class passengers described the event.

3. ENDING

I might end the movie in 1912, on the Carpathia, or transition to 1997 (which might be featured in the ending segments of the movie). As of right now I feel like ending it in 1912, but It might not feel conclusive enough. We’ll see.

And as always - give your ideas! Tell me what you don’t like in the movie. Tell me of a fault you know (a blooper in the background, a missing digital effect, something that looks dated that I can (try) to fix).

Thank you all!

Figured this would be as good a place as any to say this.

  • In your Goblet of Fire edit, during the shot of the dragon arena (after Harry looks around) at 49:00, there are two frames that have ‘750’ faintly in the bottom left of the picture.

  • In the bridge scene between Harry and Hermione after the Yule Ball, Hermione’s dialogue between 1:11:26 and 1:11:30 doesn’t match the video.

Thank you for pointing this out. I hope you liked the edit.

I might re-render a new version down the line to fix these issues. I am happy to know they are minor, and hopefully won’t detract from the experience unless you know they are there.

Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire is the kind of Harry Potter movie that, as for my passion and mind, requires a totally different kind of work. Just like Sorcerer’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets, it has many weak beats and pacing issues - as well as a narrative full of oddities, but the thing that really stands out for GoF is a horrible original score that horrifyingly resembles Pop Music or a weird Potter-remix. The score has its moments, but most of it is really not cohesive as for the rest of the series on-going themes. Like the opening intro for instance (DUN-DUDUD-- EEEH-EEEEH- DUN-DUDU - EEEH-EEEEH) that sounds like some horror house trance music.

You take that back! Harry in Winter is a masterpiece, and out of all the films’ intros, GoF has by far the best re-interpretation of Hedwig’s Theme (the original is still the best, of course).

There I agree with you! Harry in Winter is in fact beautiful, which is why I’ve used it in both SS, CoS and (of course, being there already) GoF Revisited. The opening, I like the Hedwig’s Theme iteration, but not the beginning of the soundtrack (the screeching).

Maul is on Naboo killing Jedi, whilst the Queen is trying to save Naboo. The two scenes compliment eachother, and shows us how darkness is growing and Naboo falling just whilst she is speaking of it.

I guess the disconnect comes from the fact that they’re discussing the invasion, not the Sith. If you had footage of the TF doing bad things, then I could understand.

They are discussing the invasion, which is caused by the Federation who are in co-operation with the Sith. I think you’re missing the point. The scenes compliment eachother because Amidala discuss the crisis of her planet, in which - at the same time - we show what is going on at the planet.

The problem is that the scene doesn’t show the people suffering, it shows the Sith returning. The only person dying is some Jedi, i.e. not of the Naboo.

That is because the suffering is taking part during the opening of the movie and after that there is little to no footage more to work with, and when we come back to Naboo during this hearing we now see how even more hopeless they are, because this time not even the Jedi can help them.

this might take a lot of dubbing but make naboo aladaren. so when naboo is getting attacked we feel sad and depreseed because we know what happens in a new hope

If there had been a plausible way to do this, I would. But since nobody in TPM says the name “Alderaan”, it would be pretty weird to never speak of the planet that is being evaded, and remove all mention of Naboo.

There are a couple of new updates on fanedit.org - but the newest video update is this, a couple weeks back;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LVgqJY9e98

looks great i would just replace the score with the emperors theme

Thanks, brother. I’ll keep the score though. I think it fits brilliantly, and the Emperor’s Theme is used throughout the film as well.

GAME OF THRONES - A STORM OF SWORDS [FILM II] (Released)
Time

UPDATE

FILM II Preview Clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=201&v=vO8hI4l4w8E

A Storm of Swords seems to land a 3 hours and 20 minutes as of right now, nearly 40 minutes longer than A Tale of Kings and Honor. I have the narrative finished now, and the scoring process is the only thing left (80% finished).

Having worked simultaneously on A Tale of Kings and Honor and A Storm of Swords for a year, I must say i’ve dreaded the cutting process when it comes to this particular edit. Before I finished my cut now half an hour ago, I was at 3 hours and 30 minutes. Before that, almost four hours. Then I’ve added back in stuff and removed something new, etcetc. But now i am satisfied.

This last couple of weeks have really shaped the edit into its own beast, and I think - and hope - that it will be satisfactory to whomever is anticipating this next entry.

Winter is Coming!

Just dropping by to say I absolutely loved the first ‘episode’ and if you can finish this project then it would honestly make the series largely obsolete. While I love the series, 3 hour episodes per season is just easier and more fun for me.

Keep up the Great Work.

Cheers, brother, and a great compliment! Thank you! ❤️

I will!

GAME OF THRONES - A STORM OF SWORDS [FILM II] (Released)

Minion

FILM II

Game of Thrones - A Storm of Swords is the second film in my Game of Thrones film series, a high-paced and intensely structured 3 hour epic of the second season, featuring the musical and stylistic structure of the Lord of the Rings movies to create a wholly epic experience. After the immensely positive feedback and encouraging words from fellow faneditors and viewers from both Fanedit.org and OriginalTrilogy.com upon the release of the first entry; A Tale of Kings and Honor, I have now settled on seeing this project through, and it is my wish to create something really unique, inspiring and fresh to the world of fanediting. I hope this future saga can bring just that to the table.

PROJECT EXPLANATION AND DETAILS

  • Project Started: October, 2017.
  • Runtime: (Currently:) 3 hours and 6 minutes.

The project is ment to have the same structural pace and tone as the Lord of the Rings, while maintaining the story and characters of Game of Thrones, to create a suspenseful, truthful-to-material, one-time adventure in which - instead of watching 10 hours of episodes, you watch one condensed 3-hour long movie with the story fundament of Game of Thrones and the pure adventure and tone of the Lord of the Rings. It will be much easier to watch this with a nay-sayer friend than to ask him to watch 10 hours of episodes with you, as well as to do a Game of Thrones-marathon.

The series’ soundtrack is completely removed and replaced with that of Lord of the Rings, using different themes for the different houses (Rohan for the Starks, Gondor for King’s Landing, Arwen theme (and later when dragons; Elfs/Rivendell theme) for Daenerys), as well as the entirety of the score of the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies where suited.

Unlike A Tale of Kings and Honor, which settled on a flattering 2 hours and 38 minutes, I soon realized well through the heavy and struggeling parts of editing the first rough cut that this endavour would be well towards a proper, long epic. The amount of traveling and growth for each of the key players is immense, not to mention the inclusion of new characters that has to get a small, but growing voice of their own, and an end-battle that very much resembles Helm’s Deep - all earning their spot in the spotlight.

As of right now, I am about 80% finished on the narrative, and about 60% finished on the techical aspects - aspect ratio cropping, music and new audio mixes.

THE NARRATIVE: STORY AND CHARACTERS

CHARACTERS WE FOLLOW: Robb Stark, Catelyn Stark, Arya Stark, Jamie Lannister, Tyrion Lannister, Lannisters, Stannis Baratheon and Jon Snow.

Other main or side characters in season 2 are visited through the presence of our key players that we follow for Film II, such as Sansa Stark, Joffrey Baratheon/Lannister, Cersei Lannister, Renley Baratheon, Gendry, Littlefinger, Varys, Brianne of Tarth etcetc.

The story for Film II does revolve around escaping the claws that the characters found themselfs in at the end of the last film, often failing to do so, and trying to get to a better and more just place. It’s also about the war of the five kings, and how the kingdom is slowly growing more and more violent and shredded. The film ends with all the characters finding themselfs in even worse places than when they first started, leaving a small victory - once again - to the family of the Lannisters, and a growing tension among all the key players.

Daenerys Targaryen is not featured in the second film entry, A Storm of Swords, due to three main things;

  • her storyline is rather boring and uninventful, with little character growth or narrative expansion.
  • an already filled up narrative, with little to no room for more.
  • the ability to see her in Film III having growned past her previous struggles, and having created friends and oppurtunities for herself during this time period.

YOUR PART IN THIS STORY

I would LOVE for ideas, suggestions and constructive criticism from my fellow friends here at the fanediting community. This edit is definitely not finished, and there is definitely room for exploration and/or major alterations or additions. I am thrilled to hear from you guys, be it what i just mentioned or just well-wishes. Thank you!
