Game of Thrones - Film II - A Storm of Swords (Released)
Time

Thank you, my friend! Appreciated!

I won’t do soundtracks from other places as of right now (for film II at least), but I might consider it in the future. But It would of course have to match the same musical structure as Howard Shore’s.

But I have re-incorporated a couple of GoT soundtracks in there, for good meassure. It was highly requested.

STAR WARS: Episode I - THE ANCIENT LORE [Episode I Remade /Proj started: 2014] (WIP)

[UPDATE]

VIDEO REFERENCE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfNiSkd3HfI

A lot of people has asked me about V2 and Star Wars, and I’ve thought a lot about the Star Wars community as a whole. This video, from Ahmed Best - the actor of Jar Jar Binks, has completely changed my mind about a lot. And especially the Star Wars community.

I did not know or ever choose to think about what love, passion and care there has to be, both involved but also shared, among a lot of certain individuals to create a character like Jar-Jar Binks. How much emotion and love you put into something you expect to be loved back only to get crushed in the most emotional and heartfelt of ways.

I have never been a monster towards anything Star Wars related. I’ve criticized - maybe even been a little rude at times, but I’ve never attacked the actor or the director or anyone who has ever poured their soul into the making of a film, or a project, or a “thing”. Seeing now, as an adult nonetheless, how the SW community is acting towards the creative people involved in the making of Star Wars - just like back in 1999 and onwards, and how much the monster backslash might hurt the actors, the costume designers, the lightning technicians, and the smaller people involved is a terrifying thought. Some research into the topic and you will find horrifying articles. And I’m not speaking about criticism. I’m speaking about personal attacks, death threats - hell, even stalking and harsh, verbal language (and/or mocking) both in private as well as in public.

Fanediting for me has always been about either improving or altering something to what I consider to be a better, more interesting and perhaps more emotional product. The Ancient Lore adopts this exact philosophy.

I have for many days thought about discontinuing The Ancient Lore and Star Wars overall. I do not feel passion for the universe going forward (faults of both the community as well as Disney). I do not support the fanbase at all as most of them have turned into a mob - and I do not support how I am a continuing force of negative critique of the Prequel era, and importantly The Phantom Menace, be it inside the fanediting community or beyond.

I choose to leave Star Wars behind, proudly doing so, keeping what fond memories I have from EP I - VII. I also applaude every Star Wars fan that both love and care for the universe with decency and respect, regardless of how you feel about the movies from the past, present or maybe even future. Having our voices heard is crucial, but the manner of how you speak can sometimes be even more important than your message.

I simply choose to distance myself from the toxic community it has become.

The Ancient Lore will still be be obtainable out of respect for the work done, and V2 will come to finish it down the line - but I hope that with this post I at least make my intentions clear. I have loads of respect for Ahmed Best and everyone ever involved with TPM and so should you all. This edit was only ever intended as a love letter to a movie I always felt had much more in it. Thank you, to George Lucas and LucasFilm and all the brilliant people involved!

Please view this work as a sign of respect and love for the universe, and not as a hate speech (which so many unfortunately seem to think it is).

Please close this thread.

Game of Thrones - Film II - A Storm of Swords (Released)

TRAILER: Watch it on YouTube here!

Film I - A Tale of Kings And Honor: Internet Fan Database Link

Game of Thrones - A Storm of Swords - FILM II

is the second film entry in my Game of Thrones film series, a high-paced and intensely structured 3 hour epic of the second season, featuring the musical and stylistic structure of the Lord of the Rings movies to create a wholly epic experience. After the immensely positive feedback and encouraging words from fellow faneditors and viewers from both Fanedit.org and OriginalTrilogy.com upon the release of the first entry; A Tale of Kings and Honor, I have now settled on seeing this project through, and it is my wish to create something really unique, inspiring and fresh to the world of fanediting. I hope this future saga can bring just that to the table!

PROJECT EXPLANATION AND DETAILS

  • Project Started: October, 2017.
  • Runtime: (CurrentlySmile 3 hours and 6 minutes.

The project is meant to have the same structural pace and tone as the Lord of the Rings, while maintaining the story and characters of Game of Thrones, to create a suspenseful, truthful-to-material, one-time adventure in which - instead of watching 10 hours of episodes, you watch one condensed 3-hour long movie with the story fundament of Game of Thrones and the pure adventure and tone of the Lord of the Rings. It will be much easier to watch this with a nay-sayer friend than to ask him to watch 10 hours of episodes with you, as well as to do a Game of Thrones-marathon.

The series’ soundtrack is completely removed and replaced with that of Lord of the Rings, using different themes for the different houses (Rohan for the Starks, Gondor for King’s Landing, Arwen theme (and later when dragons; DoS Dragon theme) for Daenerys), as well as the entirety of the score of the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies where suited.

Unlike A Tale of Kings and Honor, which settled on a flattering 2 hours and 38 minutes, I soon realized well through the heavy and struggeling parts of editing the first rough cut that this endavour would be well towards a proper, long epic. The amount of traveling and growth for each of the key players is immense, not to mention the inclusion of new characters that has to get a small, but growing voice of their own, and an end-battle that very much resembles Helm’s Deep - all earning their spot in the spotlight.

THE NARRATIVE: STORY AND CHARACTERS

CHARACTERS WE FOLLOW: Robb Stark, Catelyn Stark, Arya Stark, Jamie Lannister, Theon Greyjoy, Tyrion Lannister, Lannisters, Stannis Baratheon and Jon Snow.

Other main or side characters in season 2 are visited through the presence of our key players that we follow for Film II, such as Sansa Stark, Joffrey Baratheon/Lannister, Cersei Lannister, Renley Baratheon, Gendry, Littlefinger, Varys, Brianne of Tarth etcetc.

The story for Film II does revolve around escaping the claws that the characters found themselfs in at the end of the last film, often failing to do so, and trying to get to a better and more just place. It’s also about the war of the five kings, and how the kingdom is slowly growing more and more violent and shredded. The film ends with all the characters finding themselfs in even worse places than when they first started, leaving a small victory - once again - to the family of the Lannisters, and a growing tension among all the key players.

Daenerys Targaryen is not featured in the second film entry, A Storm of Swords, due to three main things;

  • her storyline is rather boring and uninventful for S2, with little character growth or narrative expansion.
  • an already filled up narrative, with little to no room for more.
  • the ability to see her in Film III having grown past her previous struggles, and having created friends and oppurtunities for herself during this time period.

YOUR PART IN THIS STORY

I would LOVE for ideas, suggestions and constructive criticism from my fellow friends here at the fanediting community. This edit is not completely finished, and there is still some room for exploration and/or major alterations or additions. I am thrilled to hear from you guys, be it what i just mentioned or just well-wishes. Thank you!

You keep comparing your take to LotR, but I don’t recall any scene in those films looking like sepiatone the way your second clip here does. Look at the color of the Shire! And even in the darkest time, on Mount Doom, there’s still a thousand times color than in anything Yates ever directed.

I’ve never compared my edits to LOTR or their color grade with the sole exception of how those films feel grounded in reality. But that is taking many things into account; such as musical continuity and tone and pace. That is a red thread that goes all the way from Fellowship of the Ring and til the end of Return of the King. They feel like one and a whole, rather than single pieces in a puzzle. That is what I’m going for with the musical continuity, tone and to an extent the color grading.

This is what I wrote:

When Alfonso Quaron took over the helmet in the Prisoner of Azkaban he gave the series what they so desperately needed: a gritty, realistic atmosphere in an elsewhere magical fantasyworld. He grounded the series, much like the Lord of the Rings Trilogy grounded Tolkien’s fantasy books for the big screen; in what could have been an ancient, forgotten world.

I only compared Cuaron’s work, not his color grade (?), to what Peter Jackson did for the Lord of the Rings. PJ made the Lord of the Rings feel real, and so did Alfonso Cuaron for Harry Potter. Harry Potter 1 & 2 were brilliant in their own right, but they felt more like childish adventure stories (which the first two books were) sprinkled with some menacing cherries on top. But as additions to the movie franchise they felt completely misplaced due to the massive changes in both tone, cinematography, themes and even - unfortunately - actor replacements. Therefore, when you also take into account how much color there is to Sorcerer’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets compared to, say, Fellowship of the Ring - since you thought I compared them - Harry Potter 1 & 2 still feel and look like a disney fairytale compared to LOTR, PoA and the HP entries onward.

Therefore, the best way to make the franchise fit as a whole - which is and has always been my goal with these edits - I made the musical continuity, tonal approach, themes and pacing the sole focus of every one of the eight film entries to make them feel and flow like one, complete whole.

And also, for the sake of this debate:

What is the second clip you refer to? The Half-Blood Prince Great Hall sequence?

Understood. I assume your final cut’ll make it easy for me to ignore it.
As one of my friends has said, it would be quite a sight to have seen Harris in Goblet of Fire, i.e. the post naming of the champions scene.

Oh man, absolutely. As much as Gambon’s Dumbledore is brilliant, serious, confident and caring, Harris’s warmth and comfortable presence would have been a sight to behold going forward. I have a hard time imagine Harris agreeing to Dumbledore’s yelling and maddening demeanor.

At first I was unsure of the inclusion of Richard Harris, whom I’ve become unsure of due to my preference towards Michael Gambon and how much of a continuity issue the recast is, but, your editing abilities alongside Lily’s theme rid me of any doubt.
Good stuff, and I’m truly glad you’ve used the theme in your edits.

Thank you, brother! I feel the same as you about Gambon and the recast, and although they were left with no choice it still reminds you that what you’re watching is a movie with a continuity issue.

However, including him in the ending arc of the franchise helps in completeing the full circle of the series and properly setup the last stand against Lord Voldemort and what has been lost since the beginning and what is left to salvage.

HARRY POTTER REVISITED: POA, HBP AND DH

Hello, my dear friends. The Revisited Franchise sees the continuation of the same work and premise as all of my other entries; which is to produce a strict, engaging and tonally consistant film entry with a lot of focus on musical franchise continuity.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8rknO7qWpA
You can see the added color in this clip, as well as some subtle old and welcome musical scores.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwPo-Vxfbso&feature=youtu.be
The first part in the forest, for some reason, has rendered out wrong. Too dark. The rest is as intended. Here you can watch the original color grade.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAGQL9ubeAE&feature=youtu.be
A musical preview from DH Revisited. Also showcases a tad of more color added to the picture.

When I started out with my Harry Potter Revisited franchise it was all about acknowledging that Harry Potter 1 & 2 were respectively out of date and non-consistent with the rest of the series. I took Alfonson’s approach to Philosopher’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets, as well as touching upon the two movies with new sfx, music, effects and colors, and alteration of the two movie’s pacing. Then, after a break, I started to commence work on a much more dreaded task - editing the Goblet of Fire (which I undoubtedbly think is the weakest link in the entire franchise) - and put Prisoner of Azkaban on hold (finding it to be a less complicated task at the time, therefore awaiting that project for another time).
Now, having finished Sorcerer’s Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix, I think it is time to complete the franchise once and for all. Work has commenced on Prisoner of Azkaban, Half-Blood Prince and Hallows - all siminoutanesly.

Prisoner of Azkaban Revisited, Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows are my last entries in this longstanding series of edits, and so I hope and wish for you guys to participate in what is to be the three final outings in said project.

The thread will be updated with more, including preview clips, so bare with me. What I want from you guys is to tell me whatever you think can improve any of the three entries to the better and any other ideas in general.

GENERAL PROGRESS

PRISONER OF AZKABAN REVISITED

has more color added to it during its first 20 minutes (everything up til train sequence) to better resemble the warmth and comfort of every HP opening thus far. Faces are no longer silvery blue and have a warm glow instead. The rest of the movie (from Dementor attack and onwards) has its original color grade true to the original.

Prisoner of Azkaban Revisited has undone the ill-favored move of erasing all previous Harry Potter scores (from SS/PS and CoS) and put some in where they fit and should belong. This includes “Feels Like Home”, Hogwarts Theme (“Entering the Castle”), iterations of Hedwig’s Theme, Voldemort’s Theme and others, including two upcoming GoF scores (for continuity with the next and upcoming entry).

I have also included two short flashbacks (as brief as half a second) and erased all fade outs and fade ins to keep continuity with the previous and upcoming saga entries, in where fades are hardly ever used.

I also removed 10 seconds from the Snowball Fight; removing Harry dragging Malfoy by his boots. This seems implausible as Harry and his hands are all underneath the Invisibility Cloak.

HALF-BLOOD PRINCE REVISITED

has completely removed and altered the cloudy and desaturated color grade of the original film, and almost all - if not all - scenes have been manually and personally touched upon due to the insane saturation and gamma differences between all the different scenes and angles. What a nightmare I tell you, and certainly one that isn’t completely finished as of yet.

Half-Blood Prince Revisited also sees the removal of some of the very obnoxious romance subplot, as well as two re-arrangements of scenes (Quidditch Trials occur after the Great Hall speech/Dumbledore’s Speech to lighten the mood and make the movie feel more Harry Potter-y before it all becomes dark and somber, and a re-arrangement of Tom Riddle flashbacks and when it occurs).

HBP Revisited keeps the continuing continuity (say that six times fast) of the Harry Potter OST, almost now more than ever. HBP has a very silent and dark and - dare I say - non-magical soundtrack, and although many of the new scores for HBP are extremely good or brilliant, they have more of a dark thriller-y feel than anything Harry Potter. Therefore, whenever fitting to the story or the emotions of the scene or the character(s) - with the exception of the good HBP scores that certainly do fit (and there are quite a few), a lot has been replaced to keep the HP flame, feel and tone going and flowing.

DEATHLY HALLOWS REVISITED

has been completed for almost four months, and has a final running time of about 3 hours and 18 minutes (before credits). I’ve showed it to my entire family three days ago for our third Harry Potter night and I feel confident it is what I always wanted DH to be. Part I and II are of course interegrated into one single piece, and one single final. I can’t wait to show some clips.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - Revisited (Released)
Time

Order of the Phoenix Revisited follows in the same shoes as Sorcerer’s Stone, Chamber of Secrets and Goblet of Fire Revisited in that I overhaul and alter the movies with new SFX, music and effects with the sole focus on better franchise continuity and a better viewing experience.

Order of the Phoenix Revisited is finished, and uploaded. You can obtain it through PM.

I am sorry I didn’t have the time to start a thread over here this time around - simply due to a lot of work and focus on The Ancient Lore (Star Wars edit) and a lack of focus and time to my other projects. Full thread can be found over at fanedit.org .

Thank you all!

Subtitles will have to wait, as they will take up to a three weeks time. I have therefore concluded with a release date for today.

It is weird to say this, but The Ancient Lore is finished. The release was supposed to happen with subtitles ready, but the process at hand will take time and therefore I find it useless to have spent five years on this project only to let it sit silent for three more weeks when I could just as well release it.

Thank you to all who have contributed, especially beyond what can be expected, and the credits list is and will be added accordingly.

I accept PMs as from now on and out, and will respond accordingly. It is possible to stream the edit from my Google Drive, but I do recommend to download it for superior quality. And as always; remember to own the original product, and do not attempt to profit on this in any way whatsoever.

Be in the mood when you watch it please, and close your eyes - thinking it’s a brand new release and that you’ve never seen TPM before - and then open them with a fresh mind before you hit play. Only then will you be a Jedi.

Please enjoy!

Known error(s)/complaints as of now:

  • A repeated shot should be replaced with a new one (Agreed, and will be made from scratch).

I accept PMs from now on out, and will send out link (Google Drive - I recommend to download for superior quality) as soon as the upload is fully complete.

Congratulations!😃. So excited! When will the pms be available?

I’m thinking sometime from later this evening through to Thursday next week. It all depends on subtitles, rendering (which is now being done for the third time) and the upload.

I will have it fully ready for release within the hour or two, but then without subtitles. I have not yet decided if I’m going to release it without subtitles at first, as I’d love a “complete package” of sorts. But then again, it’s just subtitles…

Remember that The Ancient Lore will have two versions, one which is this - and then one final at a later time with whatever fixes that might be necessary, as well as alterations to (maybe) common complaints about something that people might feel was a bit off (a color tweak etc). This version will not be taking into account wishes for alteration to narrative, or completely new scenes. This I am settled on, and will be present throughout both versions. This IS the complete version, but with the possibility of the public/community to help sort out minor things for the upcoming complete version (with a 5.1 audio track).

Thank you all!

Neville’s Theme / Neville’s Struggle

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRlXb-ajca4&feature=youtu.be

So here is a video preview of what I think might work for an emotional Neville’s Theme throughout the series, as well as to better explain Neville’s background (as most viewers don’t get it the first time). A lot of fans have stated that the fate of Neville’s parents are so quickly brushed over and forgotten, that I tried to emphasize these points by adding back in a quick flashback from Sirius’s talk with Harry (to clear the point across that they died to Bellatrix), and also to create a much more emotional soundtrack that might evolve through until DH.
