PMs sent.

Sorcerers Stone will get a new update soon, a sort of V3. Framrate issues, some improved video quality at select scenes - usually dark scenes that had way too much background noise to my liking. And a few more tweaks.

Excellent! Thought the framerate thing was me, but then other videos were ok. Question, is it just my setup that has a visible lightening at the top and bottom edges or is just a side effect of colour corrections etc…?

Prefer the flow of this edit to the theatrical, can’t wait to check out your improvements.

Thank you, my friend! This is another one of those things that will be fixed. I dont know what has caused it, but it is indeed slightly annoying.

The Rise Of Skywalker — Official Review and Opinions Thread
Time

Having just watched TROS, Star Wars the episodic saga is just over. The episodic saga is just emotionally and visually and artisticly ruined. Over. Done.

I havent watched the Original Trilogy in over three years now - a record for me. I just have no feelings left for OT and ST. Knowing the fate of Luke, Han and Leia, and the lack of importance to their actions, has just totally killed so much joy. Oh my… Im actually just offended and pissed of.

ROS FIRST IMPRESSION & ASCENDANT REVIEW

So I hadnt watched Rise of Skywalker until yesterday - through your edit, except for the first 30 minutes on a shitty camrip when the film came out. I was prepared for a shitshow beyond belief in an epilepsy-inducing first 30 minutes. It was… not a shitshow anymore. It was okay. It was paced better. Annoyances were removed. I don’t remember the original coherent flow of scenes, but I believe there were changes made. The film felt better. However, one thing that cant be undone and that is the only thing to really ruin the first act of the film is the inclusion of Palpatine. I will not go into details as this is not a review thread for the film, but oh my. What a disaster to bring him back. Not to mention what an insult.

As for the rest of the film, it feels like a Indiana Jones movie with the treasure hunt. I am glad you edited the horrible “They fly now” from the trailer, and to be fair the only part of the film I really enjoyed was actually all the stuff on the Lando-planet and up until they arrive on the planet with the random new woman character. It was the only place in the film where I actually got to listen to character conversations and world building without being rushed to another setpiece. And the Chewie death was heartbreaking, although I realized the second after he didnt die because I havent heard nothing about that on social media. But the way these scenes played out did give the film some stake and build some character for Rey. Too bad they did a cop out - once again.

As for the Third Act… I dont know what you have done here or not done here - but I suspect you’ve done a lot of fixing up on horrible lines and silly antics, but the third act is just disgraceful nonetheless. Everything is non-sensical and disappointing. Sidious is a meme, the Star Destroyers are plot devices concocted out of thin air without any logistic reasoning behind it, Kylo Rens character arc is at this point butchered and so is the sequel trilogy to be fair. In fact, I’d go as far as to say that the Original Trilogy is worse off from this ST, due to the very fact that this is now all globally canon and stuck in most people’s head’s. I did get a slight goosebump from important Jedi characters showing up at Rey’s confrontation with Palpatine, but it died out at the reminder of what I was actually watching.

Conclusion and thoughts

What you have done here, HaL9000, different from your other edits, is that you have taken a piece of broken glass and been told to glue it together without glue. The first 30 minutes are objectively better and intruiging, and the first half of the second half - until the new-woman-character-planet, is the best part of the film.

I think fanediting is a gift for us mere mortals to use to improve upon something that has a lot of potential. This way, we can give ourselfs and our common fan brothers and sisters an improved and perhaps even completely new experience. In my subjective perspective of this film and this edit, I must be honest and bold enough to say that this is the only Star Wars film that can not be fixed to do just that. There is not enough (good) material. Hell, I used 40 minutes after watching your edit trying to look for deleted scenes or extended cuts to come with ideas, but all I could find was a video on YouTube with extended trailer shots and behind-the-scenes pictures.

I applaud your work having enjoyed Attack of the Clones and ROTS fanedits a very lot, as well as improved versions of TFA and TLJ, but here I think we all must just acknowledge that Disney stole our money and won.

Thank you for your efforts!

Well…watched it two times already and what can I say…

An amazing edit! It so flawlessly travels throu scenes, combining the three movies with such a great pace.
Althou second time I watched it almost fall asleep in the Riddles in the Dark scene. It seemed longer compared to the time separated for the other scenes. But as we know its an important chapter so maybe there was little to trim from!?

Overall a really great project! A fresh new take on the movies and must watch for every one who thinks of himself as a fan!

Thank you so much, my great, great friend! This means a lot! It always does. Great feedback like this is what inspires faneditors to create great edits!

Thank you, antani!

Was finally able to see v1 of this edit, gotta say it’s one of my favorite TPM edits! The Trade Federation were actually pretty intimidating in their early speeches, and I really liked the rearranged opening (which sadly seems like it’ll be nixed in v2). Most of the Sentence mixing is also surprisingly well, and the addition of Dooku ties things alot better.

My biggest issues were probably in the latter half, (especially the final battle), some of the rearranged parts felt a bit odd, a few plot holes came up, and some minor inconsistencies in what was seen before (Sidious suddenly not having his face blurred in the latter half), as well as the occasional shoddy grammar or weird subtitled line, and a fair amount of overlapping music sorta took me out at times sadly. And a really, REALLY minor nitpick: the subtitles aren’t in the font used in ANH, or the theatrical versions of the PT.

I really look forward to v2, seeing as almost all of my big issues look like they’ll be tweaked. Despite it all it’s probably one of the most impressive, and one of my favorite TPM edits!

Also I really dig Qui-Gon’s new purple saber.

Thank you so much! All of this will be sorted.

TAL V2: As promised.

I did promise you all a V2 after some reflecting and analysis, both on my part and the audience’s. I also promised you 5.1 audio channels and to listen to feedback. This has been the priority.

I can therefore announce that V2 is officialy in the works, and that a great deal of major decisions have been made:

 • The major re-scoring is heavily trimmed down, and as much of The Phantom Menace OST that i can keep, I will keep. This does not include score additions that made the film better and that was greatly liked - such as The Invasion of Naboo.

 • ALL bugs, errors and weird scenes will be removed and/or fixed.

 • The additional scenes with Maul in the forest, killing Jedi, will go. Too fanfilm-y. The scene with him talking to Sidious MIGHT be kept. Let’s see how it looks once worked upon.

 • The new scenes that DID work, like the opening - Maul talking to hologram Sidious on Tattooine - the ending battle sequences, The Invasion of Naboo etc. will obviously be kept. These made the films a lot better, and were changes that were indeed a welcome one.

 • I’m open for adding back in some deleted scenes.

But most importantly, I’m very much opening The Ancient Lore feedback stream again; so do come with suggestions, and loads of them, if you please. 😃

My goal is still to make this into the best, and most radical, The Phantom Menace film there is.

HAIL Anjohan!

What do you use as a source?
I think Bobson Dugnutts Theatrical Reconstruction is phenomanal in all aspects.

My source is the original Blu-Ray. If i were to switch my source, I would definitely have to re-do a lot of the edit, which I dont find necessary with my newest color grade.

I am in full works still, Sorry for the long delays!

I will not scrap my original film structure! It works surprisingly well, and having tried to go back to its original TPM form just felt… well, boring to be honest. The original film is just poorly paced and the main character is not at all obvious anymore (Qui-Gon).

Wait will you do the other PT movies or just this one?

I have no idea if I will tackle them, though I do have ideas for EP II. Focusing more on the loss of Qui-Gon is one of them. The other is that the Kaminoians (rly don’t remember their names) do speak a foreign alien language as to make them more menacing as well as the plot more engaging. This way I can also better connect Dooku into the story. Coruscant would look less CGI and have less intense imagery.

Perhaps it would be an option for you to work together with The AlaskanSandman:?

I did a quick look at all the different pictures he posted on the first page and the cutlist, but It looks like he has set himself on a journey of a lot of work - and, that often leads to fatigue. I don’t think I have it in me to kinda re-do TPM to that visual magnitude he’s set himself.

I have enough doing my own visual and audio alterations to TAL than to set my mind on another task, but I think if someone would sometime take both our edits and combine them into something else could be quite neat.

Idea Wanted... for solving Game of Thrones: The Ending Chapters

RogueLeader said:

I think making Bran a hidden antagonist is an interesting idea, because you can use some clever editing to imply that he manipulated events to put himself in power.

Instead of making Bran the Night King, though, I think it would be interesting to give more characterization to who, or what, the “Three-Eyed Raven” actually is, and make his motivation clearer.

As we learn in the show, the Children of the Forest created the Night King and the White Walkers in order to stop humanity, who were encroaching on their lands and killing them. But, the Children lost control of their creation, and made a pact with the First Men in order to stop them together. But stopping the White Walkers did not their problems with humanity, since the Children basically went extinct in the end.

But how does the Three-Eyed Raven fit into the picture? What is it, exactly? What if the weirwood trees actually had as some sort of consciousness (the old gods), and the Three-Eyed Raven was merely a vessel for this entity?

In the Night King creation flashback, there is a quick shot of the face of the weirwood tree there. Maybe it could be edited in a way to imply that the weirwood is speaking to his Children (giving the name “Children of the Forest” have extra meaning). The weirwood could be the one to tell them to create the Night King. You could even edit the weirwood face to have three eyes, to help hammer the connection to the weirwood and the Three-Eyed Raven.

It also would be a good explanation for why the Night King personally wants to kill Bran and why he doesn’t go over the wall until after Bran has already gone South. The Night King wants to kill its creator.

You could even imply through montage visions that the Three-Eyed Raven was behind many of the “miracles” credited to the other gods. Basically, it would make nature itself a player of the game of thrones, playing the long game to fulfill its own mysterious goals. We could see how it moved the pieces throughout the show to take over Westeros, like it once did before men ever set foot there.

This is not a bad idea. Not bad at all. The problem with it is that there is so little material to work with to make it a satisfactory cliffhanger. We are hardly introduced to the Chikdren. At least the night king has a presence.

Lord of the Rings: A Hobbit's Tale [The Hobbit Remade] (Released)

Amazing interest from you guys! Thank you!

Here’s what I’ve had to do:

Instead of a high-quality 12 gig file, I’ve done a high-res 6 gig file (a little less detail of course, but still very beautiful) to accomedate for the horrible upload speed at my girlfriend’s apartment. I was going to upload it at my apartment - which Im rarely at because of maintenance work, but as i tried to do so, I realized that they had cut off the modem as to make more room for said work. So there was no internet to abuse!

So, now, 49 hours later (I’m not even joking, that was the estimated time once I started uploading nearly two days ago) the 6 gig “A Hobbit’s Tale’” is ready.

I will be sending PMs shortly!

Thank you all for your interest!

And please, please - report in any feedback or constructive criticism you should have without fear. I want this to be an amazing edit for people to enjoy for years to come, and if that means to revisit the film for a few tweaks, then I’m all up for it. With that being said; this is, to my eyes, a fleshed-out and finished little Hobbit tale. Please enjoy! 😃
