Maybe because I edit things myself, I'm seeing things more than others here, but I know there are other editors here, too, so I don't know...

Maybe if I could make a video pointing things out in this scene of yours like you've done, I could explain it better.

I d love to see your approach there :D

Oh my..

You rock!!!

I really but really love this new perspective! This how fucked up you are when you are messing with the dark side. It will be too late to discover the mistake you ve made.. You achieve that perfectly!

Cleverly cut anakin running to the speeder ;)

I still worried about the saber clashes sounds but im sure you will get your sounds at the end ;)

Also see this aproach ;)

Very very very effective the way you are thinking and editing. I really cant wait what you will come with in FX work :D

This guy recreated the opening chapter of RotJ 100% CGI. The characters aren't very good, but the ships and alternate angles of the DS2 are great!

Not so radical i was expecting 005 :( Still the death star looks small.

Very nice design Angel, nicely done & interesting viewpoints!, did you use a 3D program to design the chasm?

I didnt not design it but enhance it. 3d max with vray ;)

That's an interesting new look though there is something rather clever about how the original lighting strips enhance the sense of a giant chasm.

Your concept might work better if you put more of those graphic pointers back in.

Yeah i thought that the next day.:D

The concept is like someone said...the path to the dark side: PTize the OT.

Add variation and fix/avoid as much as possible the nonsense and the 70's look lightning. I did my research and all the corridors from the death star are the same or flipped so the heroes/villains have passed from the same hall more that one time.

Even like you said there is nothing clever to a more revealing backdrop. I still find the lines and dynamics good enough for the age of the film. Still the concept is to make it as a decent, eliminating most if not all the "classic nostalgia" parts.

I like very much the sound fx only version too. Duel of the fates is not a definitive choice. I will maybe put a music in the begining and stop it at Obi-wan's first strike

There are parts of the duel that i just love to listen them musicless. If you can refine/polish the duel then you have it. I really dig the musicless idea not only in this duel but whatever else its possible. How damn awesome is Luke versus vader with no music then add music and then again remove the music!

You can always experiment :D

This edit is turning really good and interesting :D

what do u mean by the musicless version ?

The video you posted as private, you demonstrated a musicless/sfx only version of the duel between obi and GG. I liked that most from original or the duel of the fates version you ve made. The saber only sounds have more impact to an already busy enviroment ;)

I thank you ;)

The point of sound desing is to treat it as a music instrument that follows the orchestra.

I see what you did there about pointing missing hums and clashes but thats the point!

A good sound designer knows when to add or remove or tone up/down a sound so the eye of the viewer can focus on an specific aspect/point of a shot.I said harmony before and i meant if you have a new music choice then the sfx should follow with the proper value/rythm etc. or the opposite.

Ben burtt mentioned that he ve made 5-6 different sound mixes for each shot in ROTJ to see how it works best and what is more aproporiate for the movie.

As for the "randomly" comment of mine i was meant to say the clashes and buzzes sounds are placed like random, not the channels ;)

For Feedback and only i just loved the musicless version of this duel. Taking the comment that the music are the sabers and something more than that is over the edge. Awesome example for less is more! :D

Use variation on every aspect you can. Thats Star wars. Nothing sounds the same twice. Thats why i like when im listening random laser sounds from the same guns. Again i recomment the clone wars episode that obi fights grievous on the bridge for reference. The sfx is marvelous!

Very nice! The only critic and the most major for me is the saber sounds.

You must consider that the clashes and hums are not placed randomly in any star wars movie.

Think a music/rythm harmony behind them and see how it works with the music or editing pacing.

This is the most common mistake in the sfx rebuilding and especialy saber sounds and blasters.

You can listen the same effect again and again with no purpose to add a variation to the whole feeling

I remember an episode in clone wars that obi and grievous are fighting and i was amazed that they used new twisted saber hums and clashes that added into the fight.

Take your time to see how sfx works and do your best :D

If in ANH the empire wouldnt consider a small fighter as threat then probably in ROTJ they took this fact more seriously. not only heavy lasers but even more smaller could take out small fighters easily. Taking the concept ramming the executor on one part of the station if can make a defense free spot for the fighters to enter.

I've always assumed that was already the case. Walks down the stairs, as we can't see his hand he calls it and immediately ignites it.

You can see the saber's shadow tho. I like the idea of the force returned  saber :D

I hate too many connections between the prequels and the OT.  Let's make the universe bigger, not smaller please.  Comic relief needed by NEW characters (Jar Jar or some other character completely recast and rewritten).

Makes some sense but what if the PT is completely not connected with the OT?

I mean stylisticaly speaking that could offer a confusion that these movies are like star wars or cheap rip offs that trying to catch the feel of star wars aswell.

See what happens to the EU and more specific to the games. They still have some starwars-y characteristics(lightsabers and white troopers) but they feel so wrong and cheap.

Like blending different styles to one with no connection to the previous ones is like reintroduce something brand new

.See what nolan did with batman. IMO always ;)

It is interesting that many of the continuity errors that already fixed were hard or impossible to see in motion still the bigger errors like backgrounds that can cause confusion are left alone. Not all just saying

As for the "there's just too many 'background' continuity differences to attempt to tie everything together perfectly"

Well i guess we were all nipitickers here.
