This is interesting.. I was amazed that they managed to make the shots of scott pillgrim simpler from the original, using various techiques. Taking inspiration of how many live action shots of the whole PT can be worked out that way. Simplifiying them to a less fancy ones or altered if you ask me can give a desirable OT feel :)

Fingers Crossed for start knowing this process ;)

"For this preliminary design work, because it was only on stills, we worked almost exclusively in Photoshop. We took the original photographs and painted successive layers of removing more and more detail, flattening out colors and surfaces, until finally we arrived at the graphic style of the books.

"In addition to the simplification, we also added CG snow piles, aerial snow and overall 'de-greening' of the environment. Most of the environment simplification shots were done with a 2.5D projected matte painting approach. We first matchmoved the shots using mostly PFTrack, but also some boujou and 3D Equalizer, and modeled stand-in geo for the shots in Maya, representing buildings, cars and roads. If the shot was locked off or otherwise essentially shot from a single perspective, we would paint a single layered painting that covered all the areas where simplification was required. If it was a moving camera, we would either create a larger oversized painting that encompassed the entire camera move (useful for mainly nodal pans), or select keyframes throughout the shot for a multiple painting approach. In Nuke, the various layers in the painting were projected onto the stand-in geo from the matchmove, and then everything was blended together in the final comp."

It will be interested seeing how this can work :D

Copied from ESB:R

Well I was actually there at Celebration. They had nightly screenings of the films, two at a time. Unfortunately I wasn't able to attend them because the hotel shuttles stopped early. Fortunately on one of the days they moved the screenings to an earlier time and I was able to catch a good chunk of ANH. First of all, the quality of the footage was amazing. Brilliant definition. It was projected onto a huge digital screen and it was just breathtaking.

I think what they were playing is what's going to be released on bluray. It seems like they fixed some of the errors the DVD release introduced as Luke's saber was actually white during his remote training and the color overall looked a LOT better than what I remember from the last release.

As for the ROTJ deleted scene, I loved it and immediately thought about how it could be used in ROTJ edits. Unfortunately, you can't tell from the youtube clips but the footage is actually kind of worn. It wasn't restored and looked quite aged. So I don't know if it could be reincorporated properly into the film in its current state.

Thanks tobar for the news

And im wondering what changes will be from the audio pov.(again)

I own a Master Replicas ROTS helmet

I envy you O_O.

The death star/executor corridors looks surprizing good even a bit set-y like the whole ROTJ looks.

The shot can work well if we focus only in Luke's hands and cut any kind of activation of the saber. I think it will create more tension.

Cant wait to see Veer's death and the sandstorm scenes.

I'm pretty sure that it's the ROTS Vader costume in the Vader shots

Your point exactly? What makes you think so?

Rots version has nothing to do with Rotj version. Also look the lighthing set up. The corridor shot is bland like every shot in ROTJ. Im more convinced that the chamber shot is from ESB. thats more like it.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

Moments like this

The saber goes up and down a bit awkward even there is "nothing wrong" with it.

Stylistical speaking even vader changes the pose/angle of the saber it would be nicer if you could smooth it out a bit. Meaning extend/reduce the blade in some frames so it doenst be so...awkard.

I think there are one or two more spots that sabers are going up and down for a frame or two.

Btw returning a bit back to the yoda clip you posted. When luke bites the food we listen that its hard to cut it. Like a dry bread. But when yoda bites it is like creme. Will you add a "strong bite" sound to yoda? If you know what i mean :)

Nice little video you got there ady :)

I see you fixed the lightsaber continuity error when it was dropped too :D (i think its reversed footage isnt it?) (see pic)

Good to see the additional vader's saber behind the smokes and an onscreen ignition of luke's saber :D (see pic)

When Luke flips behind vader luke's saber appears too short even in the previous frames it appears big. (see pic)

I like you kept color continuity in all the carbon sequence.( see red hue in the blue color)

There is a misrotoed saber blade originaly and yo your version.(see pic)

I really liked that you masked out luke from the overblown clash flash ;) (see pic)

Some akward movement from the original roto is still there like the animators couldnt rotospope the saber properly back them because of the smoke. It might need to smooth it?

In some parts the blue of luke's saber is over blown on vader's cape. Can you try to reduce them adding a darkening mask around vader's silhouette?

Tinkering with PS (autolevels, autocontrast and autocolor) I came to this version:

Auto levels/contrast/color is good to be avoided. I use PS so i know ;)

I prefer the blueish one (what did you expect :P) Is more stylised and adds variation. Especialy if this will be aplied to the later dull shots.

First of all... if the EU or SW.com doesn't count as "answers" then what does? To fill in the blanks that the movies don't cover is what the EU is out there for and it is an area of battle in which I know extensively...

Secondly... from your wording, I get a sense of the movies being the end all and be all concerning the saga in terms of canon information... If that is the case then why are we in a forum concerning CHANGING things in the movie and making things as continuitous as possible?

but the characters they portray are the same age and younger than the real actors age. That is an established fact concerning the movies we do get from the movies...

Answers that comes only from the movie. Things you got it only from it. Ady himself said that OT was superior from PT because you got whats going on on screen and never run to any sw.com and search there what is supposed to going on, onscreen. EU is so unstarwars-y because it explains everything like star trek or any other sci fi movie. Star wars movies dont do that.! We dont know what fuel the ships are burning we dont know where they sleep or eat or or or...All these are useless explanations. If beru throws a vegetable in what she was cooking then thats it. No need to listen "go and gather spacecarrots that have spacevitamins from the vaporators." Or when a random dude fills the an xwing in ANH, im sure they will finaly say"(place name here, and lets have his backstory) filled the t-65 x-wing with 10 gallons or spacefuel that was rare on yavin and contains spaceoctane. Thats why if you remember i tried to make a list of what we know only from the movies and not from any other source.. EU is Rick Olie of the star wars saga...

Secondly im coming from an other "school" or whatever you can call it. I like changing things for the sake of it. Thats why i like to OTize the PT or the opposite around or just messing with changes. To me they are just movies and an interesting playground to play with.

Thats why i said that Leia IMO looks like 25 and and not 21 or 18 in the movies. IMO always

Anyways back to ESB:R

Isnt the bottom image bad white balanced? The bluecyan hue is all over the place.

Also considering these images then the red stripes should be light orange?

Referencing many different sources can cause a mess but im sure ady knows better or just he can use artistic licence and push the colors how he wants of course.

There are no limitations on that fact.

If I could venture an opinion, I think Angel would be an excellent candidate for a copy of the workprint

Lol thanks for the vote :D :D :D

We dont know that dont we? ;)

Tell me if am i wrong but we never get a clear definition how many years passed through the episodes (ignoring the the visual growing up of characters) dont we?

EU or starwars.com doesnt count as answers or sources.

This is a woman who was elected to the senate at age 18...

Hmmm hi!

Where/when do we get Leia's or Padme's age so all this can have a point?

From the movies and only the least that leia looks like in ANH is 25+ (IMO) despite the fact that Carrie's age was 21.

So from the movies and only we dont get a clear sense of age or we have to bother with it.

Ambitious RotJ Edit (* unfinished project *)
Time

Are you using any HD footage that you can use for zoomed or alternative cropped shots that will not look the same(if you will use same/previous shots from previous movies)

Tried to contact with guys that made wookie costumes to film them in Green screen? or even in forests?

If you say that is an ambitious edit then aim high for more ambitious solutions like re filming. I think a fan film named tydirium made some shots in the endor like forest. you may want to take a look for ideas.

Also Clone wars season 2 have many many good shots of coruscant that feels more minimalistic and OT than the live action movie.
