Im considering adding the 3 moons of tattoine in the night/sunset shots.

Now i had an idea that im playing with so i need feedback before i can proceed.

The idea is adding an industrial building like a fallen ship or a big machine that is broken and be the base of the sandcrawler and the jawas. So the sand crawler is the remote basement of them.(see the pic)

Or replace the matte with a more interesting angle(aggressive one) of the sandcrawler and have smaller camps and crawlers in the distance (See the pic)

What do you think will work best?

Adding directional side lights may help draw the eye more on Ben but having some weird stuff happening in the corners of the frame could add atmosphere.

I see what i can dig along these lines Bingo :)

Btw take and other image :)

As you can see some other shots are easier to follow because there are already sun light :)

New mattes to solve the shot inconsistencies and tried to make the shadows less like it was sunset time rather day time matching them with the rest of the shots.

Really the sun changes so many times in this sequence that its practicaly impossible to fix it all. Lets say reduce it as possible.

Some more interesting texture work as well. The sky is temp

I've always thought Cappadociandock dwellings would look cool in the Star Wars Universe.

Thanks for posting. I was made the same suggestion

I find that interesting while browsing images. Altering ben's hut to be more nature like house. A house in a rock.

Taking references from cappadocia it could be more interesting creating new scenes. Funnily enough the interior of some hotels/houses are like ben's hut. So the connection fits :)

here some images for sampling and showing the concept :)

I mention that fact in my post.

I find the mouse unfocused and destructing. Now we have to see 3 things at once. The energy beam the red light and the mouse.( you have to use wisely whatever radical to guide or impress the eye. never distract it (aka rontos in your face)

You have to find a balance of what can be in and what is not. Or at least make a camera movement that shows all the elements with a rate that can lead to our main subject.Cinematography first.

Some tests of JUST the glow removal.

Notes:

  • some parts are looking darker. This is might needs a more extensive work or Background replacement. I was limited with PS.
  • No additional roto on top.
  • I left in purpose 15% of the original layer so you can see some color.

Glow removal um pa tum!

Same with the above..

I guess there are several models out there (maybe Ming knows some) that can have Leia's hoth suit and ady can manage to eliminate the famous error in the han-leia kiss scene.

I say keep the beam which i love and then you can do something similar with the krypton room when jor el puts the little baby in the ship.

Waving the opacity up and down can give that energy type of thing as well with the appropriate sfx.

You nailed it again Mr j!!!

Dracula (1931)- The Transfusion Edit

Funny, I never thought to replace that shot, but it would be lovely. I have no earthly idea how to make a decent matte shot, but I'll look into the Dracula's Daughter exterior.

As for the eyes, again i think that's beyond my technical abilities but very cool.

I have most of the inserting from Mexican Dracula in, and need to spend a bit more time on the score. My model is "Bride of Frankenstien" which has

Still scouring old movies for a shot of a strom battered ship to replace the awful Demeter establishing shot.

Oddly, I don't own White Zombie. Must procure a copy.

There's a shot of a wolf on a patio in Jess Franco's "Dracula." I'm trying to make it b/w and blend into the movie without being too jarring. It would only be a couple seconds.

I want you to list what visual changes do you have in mind. From background replacements to set extensions.

I can put my input of what is possible and what is not and i might try to make some of your ideas.

Going back to analysis.

Why this instead of that:

As we can see in both films this shot is staying with straight lines and nothing proves or shows the scale or the vastness of the station.

As you can see the bottom picture is already more dynamic better composited and everything is cleared of whats going on.

Many will say that is a comic and that is a movie. Well the basic principals are there.

Even im a fan of the DS has crazy amounts of scale this image below helps a lot to prove that point of infinite metal and death.

Lets take this image for example.

As we see they stayed closely to mc's concept but we see they did more dynamic with perspective lines--> \  /

As we see in the below shot instead, the depth, the scale, the perspective dynamics, the industrial detail and the texture/greebles are far more interesting and showing what the station is. BIG! See the compositing elements too. Foreground/midground/background. The ayes have it ;)

You can include this shot as establishing and then the medium shot(image 3) for better sense of cinematography.
