Just you :)

Just you :)

So if the consistency was to make all the saga with pointy edges you would be happy? No?
Ok i guess consistency with the OT.... right?
-Angel
Make it 50 so we can be sure :)
And that task it would be silly to be done from 1 person :)
-Angel
The sound in ANH is a mess. You can listen props foot prints and generaly the mix between the sets and the microphones ara causing a mess.
I d like to remove any element distracts from clicks tacks and what ever the poor recorders manage to capture back then. A more controllable environment to the sound too :)
-Angel
The blood is interesting still a nice spark sequence like we see in JJ's star trek when they get shot could be interesting too.
I still dont know what to do with the two officers that are watching the escape pod. The location of where they are makes no sense to the perspective since the pod goes down. I have to make the shot more star destroyer-y if not replacing it with a shot from an other movie. I dont know for sure if it adds anything.
Mr J: I would love to see how this sequence you ve done can be handled with an alternative way of editing and look less like random flashy shots.
-Angel
Funny you mention the cut because there is no cut :P
The image has that cut from itself.
I might use an other angle :)
Other news:
Added more sunrise light and mood to make the colors and tones poping up and in the next shot the sun is way to high to be in that mood. If you notice tho in the unaltered pic there is a spot of blue sky that is wrong since in the establishing shot its dark orange.
Uncentered shot and played with the tones.
Gave to that shot a bit more logica layout to the buttons that were a mess and tried to make an "asymmetrical symmetry"
Star wars is full of centered shots.
-Angel
Well it was never mention it is plasma. And i take facts that even it was mentioned as laser sword it hasnt to be "plasma" from the real world.
Im aware of this continuity of the pointy edges but since its bob garcia's universe in these edits he can go whatever route he wants. Even if that is adding pointed sabers in OT..
-Angel
Why is that?
-Angel
Trying to eliminate the hard 70s shadows when and if possible. This requires mostly BG roto on a clean or altered plate.
This is ridiculus if you consider that THX 1138 had lot of better light dep...
Generally speaking im trying to eliminate every centered shot by either re-cropping or moving the elements to an other place or extend the shot.
This shot for example has the same camera angle but the lighting changes in all shots.. trying to uniforming it.
And some new dunes to bother with :)
Stunt is different from force lightning. Also replaced for poor compositing reasons. Added interactive lightning with the rocks :)

Is anyone else of the opinion the above the clouds portion of the Coruscant reveal in AOTC is more appropriate for a first-reveal. It lingers a bit.
Good point!
Which reminds that there is a fog layer issue in that shot.
Notice when the silver spaceship enters the clouds and before it cuts to the next shot a cloud layer disappears causing some opacity issues.
It could be interesting if instead of coruscant the name nar shadaa was there :)
Nice to see you back shaner :)

Well its a lightsaber it has to be crisp. Dont look the OT ones that was reflected material on camera that was looked like neon lights.. It has to look different from what a light looks like in real life.Because its not a lightt...right?
AOTC had the similar approach to the sabers but still the continuity was a big mess.
TMP made it more OT like but still with no blu ray release it doenst worth the effort...
-Angel
ROTS's sabers are the best.
Never but never trust promo pictures from any movie!
Compare what you see from movie frames and not promos or stills :)
Bob's colors adjustments will make them more desaturated, more like OT.
-Angel
*coughs*
I move on..
Anyways im eager to see Mr J's alterations on the death star doors or even try to replace some BGs for sure :D
-Angel
ANH should be treaten like THX and even more radical..
http://movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=541751
Look all these wonderful changes and enhancements. The boring walls the empty limited spaces and the close shots were opened up where new shots added to brake the limitations back then.
If we go with the reshooting entire shots then some very boring shots can be replaced for sure!
Its amazing actually with some good rotoscoping can you achieve!
-Angel
Dont forget the reflection ^^
-Angel
There you go :)

That really sucks that the guy with the Hi-rez mattes will not let anybody use them. What a waste of resources. Maybe he works for lucasfilm in some form.
Imagine that anyone could use the elements that a movie uses to its raw format. then why bother having studios and privacy? Its like someone have the original vader's suit and he uses it for fanfilms etc... Besides its up to artist what to do with his piece if that not contradicts with the company/ies)
-Angel
Are you planing to do an extensive or radical change of the movement on that shot?
If no then you can sure contact with some people of the rpf.com that actually made the rebel transports and take photos from the real deal and not from a matte.
As for the 3d approach if the shot will not have radical movements and require 3d tracking you can always place a good render and then paint/matte over it with details etc.
Im sure you know all these stuff and i like the way you want to keep it original.
If i have news i will let you know :)
-Angel
I think he doesnt want to tell...right? end of story

And the crushed blacks in the 2004 version of ESB means i really can't use the original transport matte for my edit, so i'm stuck now
And i thought you will redo this shot with model props :(
-Angel
Well he has his reasons..dont ask why :/
At least i tried to help :)
-Angel
I assume i have most of the OT saga mattes that ILM used. This was from a private collector that gave it to me in studio scale that was originally used.
For example the bespin platform with the falcon matte is 6174x3456 px.
You can even see the painted strokes outside the frame :)
I see what i can do finding this for ya ady but i cant promise for anything :)
EDIT: He said no. :(
-Angel
Please be constructive next time..

Dual monitors flyboys :D

"Uh, my team's ready. I don't have a command
crew for the shuttle."
:D
EDIT:
I just got the idea how to make this little set a bit more interesting.
How about make it a big energy room that goes to infinity and have slow lightning goes up and down connecting the two sides of the wall?
Ideas from here just slower. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8dl7FCzxSgY Something like ROTJ generator but more impressive.
Smokes/steam can be pulled out from the things that are like holes and air shafts. (see invisible hand)
More to what i mean is when Neo wakes to the real world and watches the city below him. That kind of electricity im refering. i will try to make it as mockup :)
This episode here have some nice sound effects even with poor quality :/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_frD6bGp63U&feature=related
