I actually wasn't watching it frame by frame, but I'll take that as a compliment of my eyesight. :P Thanks very much for fixing it! :)

Its impressive how many "final" clips were gone back in the FX room for fixing details. Im wondering if the final piece will still have small errors and inconsistence. Its impressive too that the effort of doing these things with the attention to the detail

And thanks alot Angel that's perfect.  And this edit's going to be a DVD, so being displayed at 720 X 480 I don't see why it should need clean up.  Just color altering.  And would you care to enlighten me to DE's camera projection technique?  Because the slow zoom doesn't work that well, it still just looks like a slow zxoom in on a still image.

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/The-Darth-Editous-Episode-IV-DVD-Info-and-Feedback-Thread-a-partially-de-specialed-DVD/post/406851/#TopicPost406851

I think it will work well for a subtle shot like this.

Still tho if you want to go with the pure OT route, any matte is static with a fake zoom with it.

Blowing sand some moving clouds or some human elements from an other source placed in the distance might give life to the matte.

I hope you will consider to erase/replace the black hole in the mountain (where supposed to be a cave?) because it distracts the eye from the ships.

I agree with Golden idol.

We both enjoy the movies from a long distance and with a magnifying glass.

Achieving the perfection is always welcome and thanks to these who contributing here this edit went from good to awesome and from awesome to best.

Now sit back and enjoy the original ESB and relax in the Xmas mood ;)

Merry Xmas all :D

SW Episode III - Reign of the Dark Side (* unfinished project *)

I suggested back then the interior of the Trade Fed core ship should have minimalistic color values like their predecessors. Gray walls or even subtle blue tones. Not rainbow colors into a battle station.

Even the details are not match i can only assume that GG had the time to modify the ship. Still no word of rainbow colors in the ship.

There's another shot in the clip that is unfinished and that one is when Luke walks away from Yoda. The shot is actually finished but it was accidentally left out from this clip because i had the layer it was on in Vegas disabled when rendering. Not a biggie really but the floor replacement to cover the moving floor isn't complete in the online version.

And i've updated the download link in that post because Hotfile.com deleted the original for some reason.

I lost you.. You mean that you fixed the fade problem and posted the updated link with the fixed version of it?

Also, in that same shot, the camera makes a jerky motion after Yoda closes his eyes and before he lowers his head, can this be smoothed out? This happens at 1:56 in the .mkv video.

I second that. It looks like an illusion that caused from that jerky movement. I think a simple stabilization will fix this

In the original version you can see the ground bending when luke passes next to yoda after the line "you want the impossible" Notice his feet and the ground. Because frank oz was under it, it wasnt so stable.

Ady partially fixed that but my point is that the fade between the stable/static image causes a bottom edge that needs to be erased. Plus with the fade there is an obvious detail difference.

Ady any word for this?

I saw clearer the fade you did to fix the ground bending when hi pass next to yoda.

I see some sharp edge in the bottom of the fade. Like you put a still image (more like it) and you forgot to fade/paint the rest of the edges to match the overall shot.

I hope you gonna fix this :)

I like my Dagobah gloomy. I like vignettes and I like mattes. I don't mind if they look like they are painted. Sometimes I like them BECAUSE they look like paintings. Great paintings.

That's not to say I don't like Adys changes. I loved ANH:R and I am excited about all the changes in ESB:R. I just wanted to say that I have a love of the old fashioned arts of movie making.

Ady released a pre SE version of ESB ;) Its full of the stuff you like in the best quality available. You can check it ;) There you will find "your dagobah"

Another note: nothing big again, but either when Luke is trying to lift up the X-wing or any other shot, will there be any implication of the path the X-wing took to crash into the shore?  As it stands, the X-wing would have travelled through some majorly thick trees to crash where it is (which would have killed Luke), short of him crashing straight down in a nose dive.

Yes yes! I remember that.

Old mockups (dont judge :P) the light streak is too intense maybe but since luke was going down the clouds were pretty bright.

Generaly the original matte and the mockup is wrong because the X wing is in the wrong angle. I think ady mentioned that he will fix that.

It might be good, but it looks like crap ;)

Just to clarify, my 2¢ on the floating X-wing shot: I like the added detail of the trees in the background of your mock-up, but I dislike the brightness of the image.  As someone else recently stated, the gloomy feel of Dagobah should not be sacrificed.

what i did there long time ago. it was quick and i remember some members comment the overall brightness. It was quick i didnt got into that so dont bother to judge it again ;)

However, you may want to consider being more diplomatic in how you defend your position in the future; calling something someone else likes "crap" simply because you personally don't like it might not garner a very positive response.

Sure :)

It might be good, but it looks like crap ;) So we are all satisfied. I dont know who to blame. The 80s compositing? The 2004's crushed blacks? Thanks for your feedback!

Years and more years yes 005. If ady wants to bring the movies to our standards then every possible option is available. Remember not only Star wars fans are watching these edits.

Make a shot from good to better and from better to best. Eveything nowadays has to prevized before the final product. So they calculate everything to the best possible result rather something simple.

Other days the 80s other days the 00s. If you take the path of balancing the two eras then you will face the path of OTizing and PTizing to many levels and areas. ;)

This forum is multi-aged, why not suggest more modern things?

As you can see there is nowhere next to the ship that weird darkness.

The vignetting is still there as you can see and i know they used it as a cheap way to make the space a bit more alien and claustrophobic. But its not affecting the area around the ship

Either adding a dark area to this shot above or remove it from the later ones. Why have something so awkward? ;)

What do you guys mean by vignette, anyway?

Its the black area around the shot that hides/lowers the brightness so you can focus on something else. common thing among the old movies.
