The Prequel Radical Redux Ideas Thread
Time

I actually could get behind that idea, especially since Leiah being a Jedi amounted to nothing.

See that’s part of why I want this change: it’s a plot point that amounts to nothing. The other reason is that it’s universe shrinking to make every

The biggest thing i liked about it was simply Vader using it against Luke.

Which is apparently why it was added in the first place. When Yoda says there is another, it could just as easily be taken to mean Vader.

But I’m getting off topic. This would be better suited to the OT Radical Redux Thread.

I’d love to see the whole category of things like that, just not as a permanent replacement to the originals.

Look, if I wanted to see the originals (which I really should, at some point), they’re there, thanks to the wonderful people on this site.

My approach to fanediting is to make the best possible versions of the films while mostly staying true to the original vision. I see visual consistency as part of that. That’s why I welcome changes like the SE Mos Eisley. They make the transition between trilogies less jarring, and the world more alive.

Unusual Sequel Trilogy Radical Redux Ideas Thread
Time

There’s a line between comedic and just plain comical; the First Order wasn’t intimidating at all once they started just being the incompetent butt of jokes. Snoke too, hurling Rey around telekinetically then bleah I’m dead.

The First Order as a whole is never portrayed as a joke, though. Sure, sometimes the individuals within it can be a tad silly, but they never undermine the organization.

And Snoke throwing people around with the Force is perfectly reasonable. I don’t see the need to label things such as him literally wiping the floor with Hux as a comedic beat. To me it’s just a display of Snoke’s power.

It’s funny, the more you think about it. The First Order General was offed as a joke and their Supreme Leader hallucinated himself into switching sides, then the rest of the organization died off screen.
A story for the ages.

Pretty much all characters except Rey were reduced to jokes by the end.

Pretty sad waste of potential.

Yeah, but most of that happened in TRoS, which only seemed to care about two characters. Hux was turned into a punching bag in TLJ. I actually think most of his abuse is warranted, and in keeping with the trilogy’s comedic tone, but the yo mama joke is too much.

What's your take on Emperor Palpatine being brought back for The Rise of Skywalker?
Time

I think it was absolutely essential the Saga conclude with him as it’s pretty much his story. Without Palpatine, this whole trilogy would feel like an unnecessary epilogue rather than a natural continuation and true conclusion.

Now of course the way his return was handled was carelessly sloppy. He should’ve been set up in TLJ and maybe even TFA, and should’ve clearly explained in TRoS that he is in his original body, and that he simply survived the Death Star. I don’t like the idea of him having died and returning as a clone.

I know most people say him surviving negates Vader’s sacrifice, but really, it’s about saving what we love, not killing what we hate. Vader saved Luke from Palpatine, not to mention putting the latter out of order for a good thirty years. Sure, he may not have completely finished him off, but he still did a damn good job.

Oh and Snoke being Plagueis would be dumb. Shoulda just been Palpatine’s apprentice, end of story.

If they had revealed he was alive at the end of TLJ, maybe it would have worked.

This.

I would gladly learn VFX stuff and modify the lip-syncing of the characters to redub the planet’s name as Korriban. The shot of the Sith statues with the orange ambience just speaks KOTOR.

Korriban is widely known to those it concerns, though, so it wouldn’t function as a secret base. All the more reason to stay close to the official blue grade to differentiate it from Korriban. It also really suits Palpatine. I do like the “grey” recolor though. Something along those lines might be good.

What are the themes of the Star Wars movies?
Time

I don’t mean overall but rather of each individual movie.

The Prequels all seem to cover roughly the same ground with corruption and the quest for power, between Anakin and Palpatine, as well as the failure of the Jedi.

The originals…I got nothin’. RotJ is about family, I guess? There’s a recurring motif of Luke wanting to save his friends, if you can make anything of that.

TFA is about confronting the past. Finn must confront his past as a stormtrooper, Rey must accept that her parents are never coming back, and Han must confront his fallen son.

TLJ is all about failure and learning from it. Yoda is pretty on the nose about this one. Finn learns to fight the good fight by failing to save the fleet. Poe learns to be less impulsive by failing to mutiny.

TRoS is…also about the past. Geez, Abrams, show some creativity. Poe must confront his past as a spice runner on Kijimi, currying parsley and paprika to grocery stores across the Galaxy. Finn must deal with his past as a stormtrooper on Kef Bir, where he meets a former company of stormtroopers. Rey must deal with why her parents left her and…groan…her heritage as a Palpatine.

If you need to B*tch about something... this is the place
Time

I’ve had it with DnD. Everything just takes way too long. When it takes 2 hours just to do busywork around town there’s something seriously wrong. In 2 hours we should have gone around town, travelled to the dungeon, completed the dungeon, and session over. At least, that’s how I feel. By two hours I’m completely burned out. I never find myself looking forward to sessions but instead dreading them, so I’m calling it quits.

So yesterday my friend and I got into an argument, and on my Minecraft server, right there for all to see. A girl on the server called me a simp for being nice which is one of the few things someone can call me that really offends me. Then my friend out of nowhere brings up things I said IRL several months ago before quarantine, and accuses me of bad stuff based on it. I kicked him and disconnected.

It’s the worst being friends with a “chad” when you’re forever alone. That’s why I consider one of my other friends my best friend. He’s on my level. I never feel like he’s doing better than me, and he most certainly doesn’t bully me. In fact, today, the same friend who attacked me yesterday accused me of other things. I’m starting to consider cutting him off.

Anyway, like I said, he’s a chad who gets every girl he wants (and I said as much in retaliation yesterday), and I’m just some incel (literal sense, not the misogynist sense) who never gets any. It’s not just that though. The girl he claimed I offended yesterday? Immediately says he’s currently dating her. And the girl on the server who called me a simp and started this whole mess? Today they’re hitting off like crazy. It’s frustrating as hell. Between that and his frankly juvenile humor (which for some reason is popular with others), he’s on some thin fucking ice. I already have to deal with all this crap from my younger brother, so gimme a break.

At least I had another friend who witnessed yesterday’s fight to privately talk it out with me and support me. Shame my best friend wasn’t there to support, but I’m not sure he would’ve done much.

And hey, at least I’m about to finish that show I said I was rewatching earlier on this page.
