Expecting or worse demanding the film not to get a subtitle to match the others is completely backwards. I just can’t wrap my head around the concept of people wanting to call it just “Star Wars”. That’s needlessly confusing and makes it stand out like a sore thumb.

As for the title itself I think it’s simple and elegant, and I like it.

At the end of the day, there’s no way Star Wars would have been left untouched forever. Even if Lucas had passed on making the Prequels, he would’ve sold the company sooner or later and we’d have new movies whether we want them or not.

Change Jar Jar’s last name to Abrams as a show of appreciation for JJ Abrams’s contributions to the franchise.

Add a Death Star to every film for poetry’s sake.

Like I said, I won’t be including the evacuation of D’Qar in TFA. It’s staying in TLJ.

I feel the other shot better rhymes with TPM and ANH and just feels more Star Warsy…or at least it would be those things if it weren’t moving! I really want to end on a static version of that shot because it just looks wrong when the iris to credits happens on a pan, but I don’t see any way to remedy it here.

Your version just cuts from space to space so it looks really weird.

“I am all the Sith” “and I, I’m all the Jedi” is honestly the one part that’s so ridiculous it loops back into being great. It’s like two children playfighting, trying to one-up each other and I love it.

I agree with Drew, though. As much as I appreciate your effort, the Marvelification feels really out of place.

I don’t know if I’ve talked about this before and if I have it’s been a long time, but having two Saga films take place back to back just kinda irks on an irrational level. Thus, I’d like to edit the films so as to insert a 1 year gap. Rey and Chewie spend the year scouring Ach-To for Luke’s location, and since in my version there never was a big laser pointed at D’Qar, it’s reasonable to think the First Order would take a year to find it. This change wouldn’t accomplish much, but it would feel more in keeping with the Saga’s style. Then again, so would changing the title and that’s off-limits for iconography reason.

Figured. Anyway, the film’s fine. It’s just watching the show first the movie’s world doesn’t really draw you in because you’ve seen it all before.

Just swap out the instances of “Clarence” for “Doctor”, add the Doctor Who opening, remove the bit about Clarence having nothing left to steal, and remove the intro and outro with the kid falling asleep, and voila, a new Eighth Doctor story onscreen.

My bad. Worst I’ve seen (I don’t watch Michael Bay movies) and only one of the worst, not the worst. That award goes to The Rider, with dishonorable mentions to Paterson and Waking Life. God that Film Studies 2 was a rough semester.

And dissing The Dark Crystal on Jim Henson’s birthday no less…

Well the script isn’t by Henson and everything else in the film is great, so I’m not really dissing him.

Poe doesn’t really have an arc, but if you’re gonna have planet destruction you might as well take a Star Destroyer from IX. Maybe take the Kijimi sequence and use it.

I don’t want a planetary destruction, though. Just a concentrated blow on one spot like the one delivered by the dreadnought.

However, I still can’t get past having another Death Star. I want the Senate to be destroyed via dreadnought. How do we make this work? I feel like there could be a way to accomplish this using the opening scene of TLJ, but I fear for how the holes that may create in Poe’s arc for that film. Of course the world and artistry is the draw, which is why I wouldn’t consider the film to be horrible despite a jarringly dull script. However, when you put it up against the well written series, it definitely doesn’t hold up.

Honestly, the movie isn’t good. The artistry of the visuals is outstanding (for its time), and so is the worldbuilding, but it’s letdown by honestly one of the worst stories on film, and I don’t say that lightly. It just feels like it’s lacking any meat on its bones, which is a shame.

I’m gonna be honest, I do think there’s a decent chance this gets picked up by another network. All the puppets are made, so the second wouldn’t be nearly as expensive.

There is still a huge gap in events between the series and the film. The Gelfings are still numerous, Deet’s been consumed by the Darkening, the Garthim have only just burst onto the scene, and I think some of the Skeksies are unaccounted for.

“The community” is a very small percentage of the larger audience though. Fandom isn’t as important as it thinks it is, nor does it have the numbers it thinks it does. “Fandom,” and “The Community” don’t represent a lot of power compared to the general audience. Is there some venn diagramming of the “Silent Majority” as you put it and the vocal side of a much, much smaller segment of that audience that self-identifies as “the fandom?” Definitely. Is that venn diagramming all that important to anyone but the people in that self-identified fandom? Not really.

You must be right. Clearly, the fandom can’t be that big since pretty much every corner of it hated TRoS and yet audience scores are pretty positive. Then again, I think they’re taken from right after the premiere, so…
