I agree with the overall sentiment that everything must adhere to the OT and the OT can’t be changed to suit other things instead is nonsense. A lot of changes that can be made to it are fairy trivial but at a lot to the sense of continuity. I think trying to preserve the twists is silly, tho. Everyone and their dog knows who Vader is, and the OT should be watched first.

Destroying his mask was a symbol of autonomy, relying on himself, free from bondage or trying to free himself. The mask was a symbol of him being trapped in his desires to have control. He takes control when he destroys the mask, and he realises he does not have control when he remakes it. When he takes the mask of throughout IX, it’s to take control of a situation.

Destroying his mask represents deconstructing tropes and reforging it represents reconstructing them. It’s the story of a thesis, antithesis, and synthesis.

I’d consider swapping out the Giacchino music for Williams to make it blend better. It doesn’t sound like Williams to me, but that might only because I already know it isn’t. I can’t exactly point to anything stylistically different about it.

Redub Ahsoka’s animated appearances to sound like Rosario Dawson’s voice.

I just had an idea: what if we found a way to make it look like Snoke was the one who smashed Kylo Ren’s helmet? He insults the helmet multiple times so it seems like something he would do, and then it would make Kylo reforging his helmet seem like he’s growing rather than regressing.

Please, of all the things the Sequels did, the helmet is handled perfectly. Don’t ruin it.

He is regressing though, he went from being the big bad in charge to Palpatine’s enforcer.

Eh, it was never quite a master and apprentice dynamic. Kylo was still standing on his own, he was just trying to gain power from Palpatine. He wasn’t really obeying his orders per say. The only thing he did for him was track down Rey, which could be described as little more than a sidequest. Din Djarin isn’t Cobb Vanth’s enforcer, is he?

On a different note, while I never cared much for the Mary Sue accusations levied against Rey, there is actually one instance in TFA where I think it’s true, and that’s her breaking herself out of prison with a Jedi mind trick. Is there a way to make Han, Finn, and Chewy responsible for her escape? Maybe Phasma orders Rey be brought to her at gunpoint?

Really, it makes more sense inserting the hallway scene into ANH.

At the start of the year I was riding the high of my graduating project, and kept tinkering with it, and I got into Stranger Things and Batman. There was still school, and I went to France for a week (which sounds amazing until you realize I went for three weeks the summer prior so it’s more like a little epilogue than anything). Then covid happened, and in the summer my interests started drying up. By fall I was wallowing mess. Eventually I managed to pick myself up. Around that time I got a girlfriend, but that just ended yesterday. Still, I’m glad it happened. Nice to at least have experience, and it ended on friendly terms. Oh yeah, and my server went from bustling and lively to a ghost town through a series of falling outs. Thank god for Warbler at this point.

While I’m personally more inclined to remove Yaddle altogether, one could go the other way and repurpose reaction shots of CPY by adding hair and making them shots of Yaddle. This would act as a way to preserve CPY, in much the same way Young Link and Dr. Mario act as time capsules for their respective fighters in Smash Bros., if that makes sense.

An idea was discussed recently, possibly on a different thread, was Palpatine being stripped of his physical form and becoming more of a primal negative energy. While that’s maybe a little far, I think it could be neat having him as a sort of spirit (no, not a Sith ghost, Sith can’t do that) who needs a host to inhabit and tries to get Rey to act as that host. Remove shots of GLaDOS Palps and rearrange his lines about his spirit passing into her and it should be doable. Then of course he absorbs the energy of the dyad and emerges as a physical being once more.

While it’s never explicitly stated that Yoda was one of the Jedi who narrowly escaped the Empire’s Jedi extermination and went into exile like Obi-Wan, I still think it’s heavily implied. Could Yoda being a neutral being only loosely affiliated with the Jedi who had been on Dagobah for centuries and most people didn’t know the existence of? Perhaps. Was it the writers’ intention? Most certainly not.

I actually disagree with Oz though. Yoda doesn’t dress regally or look out of place. He’s just a little green goblin in a bathrobe, and looks 100% in his element in a mysterious swamp.

Almost feels like he had multiple ideas and he gave this particular one to Disney, since it’s not that far off from the sequels overall.

Like Jaded Skywalker said, I don’t think he bothered coming up with a pitch for Sequels until the last minute, so I don’t think there’s a bunch of different versions floating around, besides the pre-RotJ version which would’ve basically been an extension of the OT and closed out with RotJ. I think the midichlorians stuff is just another aspect of the Darth Maul pitch which is in turn the one he gave to Disney. All these ideas he’s telling us after the buyout so I don’t see how they could still be in flux. Besides, the Maul pitch aligns closely with early concept art for TFA, namely Darth Talon. Okay, admittedly that’s the only real commonality, but it’s a pretty significant one. Regardless, Lucas would never have made Sequels. He clearly saw RotJ as the end of the Saga.

The prequels have grown on me, but Rogue One an The Mandalorian are closer to the sort of Star Wars content I want. I thank George so much for creating the sandbox, but I’m glad others are getting to play in it now.

Fennec Shand is a non-character. Remove her and her introductory episode (one of the worst episodes) and nothing changes. She’s so forgettable when she’s reintroduced in S2 and Din recognizes her I had to take a moment to figure out who she was. They could’ve at least given he a unique design or something.

Thrawn in Rebels is just annoying. The show just constantly screams “Look how badass he is!” and his voice is somehow irritating. Felt like a Mary Sue, ngl.

He already looks the same so I’d say it counts as a bad idea.

I think the nature of the scene had something to do with it. It’s a wonderful scene, and he probably thought it justified him returning.

Actually, only RotS and RoS end on binary sunsets (in the same exact location), although TLJ has one on Ach-To near the end.
