Unusual Sequel Trilogy Radical Redux Ideas Thread
Time

GL is kind of vague about what the Whills are exactly, and it seems his idea regarding them changed over the decades.

I’m gonna be honest, I really wanna fly over to his house solely to ask him what the Whills are. Actually, video chat would probably be more practical, but you get the point. I’m really dying to know, and I bet if you asked the right people at Lucasfilm they could tell you too.

I’m sure he explained it all to them at some point, especially while making the Yoda’s Journey storyline for TCW. In fact, I think there’s reason to believe the so-called Force Priestesses in that story are actually Whills, as Qui-Gon says in deleted scenes from RotS he learned to become a Force ghost from the Whills and in TCW he guides Yoda to the Force Priestesses to learn this ability.

Oh and spontaneous title idea for Episode VIII or IX: Secret of the Whills.

I mainly tried to smooth over the pickup note between Rey’s Theme and the End Credit fanfare. Oh, and shoutout to bbghost for helping me find the correct music clips!

In both versions the iris seems too slow. Surely that’d be an easy fix?

Christensen’s ghost is staying and that is non-negotiable. The only thing I’d be open to is replacing those particular shots with a different version without the creepy staring, but I don’t care enough to make such a thing myself, so unless someone else makes it, it’s not happening. Old man Shaw never existed in-universe so having him show up is just absurd. For him to be played by Shaw he’d have to still be scarred and bald at the very least.

As for HAL, that must be where I got the idea from. I’ll write that down for now.

Why do memories hurt so much? They feel so…worthless. Like what’s the point of having them if they’re so distant they might as well be fiction? And even that’s not a good comparison, 'cause I can boot up Ocarina of Time whenever I want and replay exactly as it was when I first played ten years ago as child. I can’t replay the past like that. It’s gone, never coming back. I find it hard to attach myself to anything I can’t control, which is basically anything that isn’t digital or an idea, and the past now falls under that category. I mean, it clearly always did, I just hadn’t realized it. Lysandre was right. Things should stay perfect forever.

And yes, I know the saying, smile because it happened.

See the thing is the way the climax is structured I can’t figure out a way to pull off the scene where Rey passes Ben the lightsaber without the ritual. The scene is built around the tension of Rey killing Palpatine to fulfill his plan (not that it ever seemed like it was actually gonna happen, but regardless there’s a sense she is actually in danger). Without the ritual, you just have Rey awkwardly standing there when she could attack Palpatine at any moment. I guess if one could frame this as reluctance to start the inevitable fight based on the fear Palpatine will be strong for her, maybe it could work.
