A Collaborative Star Wars Saga Edit

Vader’s reference to Obi-Wan in ep6: where he says to Luke “Obi-Wan once thought as you do”, as in ep3 Padme tries to turn Anakin back from the dark side. Could simply cut the line?

The popular approach is changing it to "Padme once thought as you do.

The rebels didn’t accomplish anything (fix: merge the resistance and new republic… leia is commanding a regiment in the outer rim)

My preference is making the conflict of the ST a proxy war with two groups within the Senate funding the Resistance and the First Order.

Come to think of it, I wonder if something about it could come up in Canto Bight…

Very interesting idea. I’ve thought of this hypothetically before. This could be good, though potentially problematic when ideas clash, which I’d definitely see happening. But count me in nonetheless.

Either it’s the definitive version (which will inevitably vary from person to person), or it’s a radical transformation that makes a fun side thing. I can’t think of any other reason to make/follow an edit. I agree a community edit would be lots of fun to make, but we should aim for something more like the second type, where it’s not really meant to be the definitive version, but rather some weird novelty. We’ve already got the Ridiculous edits for comedy, so idk what we’d do for this. I guess we could revisit the idea of converting the movies into one continuous show. That’s something that’s obviously not meant to replace whatever is your go-to version of the saga, but gives us lots to do and plenty of wiggle room.

Cool, making progress! I think the glow is a little intense on the larger ships though.

Also, could you possibly use a different Falcon model? It might just be me, but it looks a little brown compared to the other ships.

Yeah, the bigger glows do need to be toned down. The Falcon model I’ve got is brown but unfortunately it’s the highest detailed model of the falcon available (it’s from Battlefront II).

I’ll desaturate it or something in post.

A color correction would probably help.

Episode IX: The Rise Of Skywalker - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD *

I feel like a lot of people’s problems with both TFA and TLJ (not all, mind you, both films are far from flawless) - and even the PT to a degree - stemmed from their expectations for how they should be instead of being open to things going down a unique path.

So know that I’m fully aware that I’m setting myself up for major disappointment two years from now when I say this:

Not at least addressing the Knights of Ren in Episode IX would be a massive mistake.

Hoping and expecting are two different things. I hope the Knights of Ren all wield lightsabers and go down in a blaze of glory. I expect them to be, you know, just sorta there in one or two scenes, not really doing much, let alone having their background explained. And if they do get action scenes, they’ll have non-lightsaber weapons.

A romance between Rey and Ben begins through continued contact through the Force.

If VIII had Luke’s first action be throw away his lightsaber, why not make Rey and Kylo’s first action in IX be kissing passionately while everyone around them watch in confusion?

EDIT: PLOT TWIST: Reylo is necessary so that Rey is a Skywalker since she will be the wife of a Solo and mother to a Solo.

First off, like was saaid earlier, VIII made a big deal out of the fact that her heritage doesn’t matter, and this would contradict that. Second off, why not have her simply take on the name without that? Maybe Luke decides she’s like a daughter to him and tells her she is now Rey Skywalker. It would feel far more appropriate.

I asked the Half-Life Reddit community why I’m not enjoying the game and all I get is downvotes.

A few people provided well-developped, constructive feedback, but most seem to just downvote everything I say and claim I’m too young to appreciate the game, which is BS. I’ve played and enjoyed many games far older than this one, and if a movie comparison is relevant, I have watched plenty of old B&W stuff. Okay, mainly Doctor Who, but still. I get that I’m critisising a game they love, but they could at least here me out and provide proper answer like the top commenter.

I guess I should’ve just accepted that the game wasn’t for me and moved, but I was far too flabbergasted by how bad this beloved game is.

STAR WARS: REBELS (animated tv series) - a general discussion thread

I think it’s a miracle Kanan died at all, with Filoni himself stating in a recent interview that Yoda telling Luke that he was the last of the Jedi was not the reason for his death, as if implying that if he wanted to he would’ve had Kanan be alive throughout the timeline of the OT.

Wouldn’t that implying just the opposite? If said that he didn’t want to kill him off just because of Yoda’s line, that implies he wanted to kill him off regardless for other reasons.

Kanan and Hera spent the whole series flirting but I got the impression that their onscreen kiss was their first and only moment of intimacy.

I had the impression already a couple from the get-go, but then in Jedi Night suddenly they’ve actually never been a couple? It felt contrived, and ruined the most interesting relationship the show had.

A sad day this will be indeed though for me that kind of happened with Ep6 as the last movie in episodic order that I will listen up to now. I didn’t mind TFA’s soundtrack but it’s nothing special in my mind compared to the OT and PT soundtracks, with it being quite muted at times during the movie in comparison to the others and no real standout new themes.

I can’t even remember what TLJ soundtrack was apart from some licks of each character’s theme playing whenever they were on screen, so the ST soundtracks are pretty much a non event for me though the other 6 movies that came before will always be just as special to me as the movies themselves.

A mate of mine recently commented on me listening to SW soundtracks as if it were odd, him being a SW fan himself so I’ve spent the past few weeks listening to all 6 albums a number of times over to try and create a shortlist of tracks for him to try out. I listed the entire album for ANH though since that’s were it all started and everything is essentially derived from. If he enjoys it hopefully it will cause him to listen to all the albums.

I think SW music is really something to be truly appreciated and without it SW would certainly not be what it is today. Lucas’s purpose in using such music was to try and imbue all that additional emotion into the movie without needing to use dialogue and visuals alone and Williams achieved that to an absolute tee. I need only hear a few bits of a track to be instantly transported back to the scene and the emotions attached to it.

Val

It does sorta get worse as the films go on. Practically every track is a masterpiece, or at least pretty good. By the time you get to TLJ…eh. There are still some great themes in the ST, just not as many.

Dub Greedo in English but include subtitles for him anyway (either English or Rodian/Huttese/whatever language he speaks in the original film).

Better (worse): use the original on-set English dialogue (which is from the script before the Jabba scene was cut and the Greedo scene dialogue rewritten to convey the now-deleted exposition), but keep the theatrical subtitles.

I like the idea of having the subtitles in the same language as the audio but saying different things. Funny enough, I’ve actually seen that happen before when watching a film in a non-native language.
