That's why you won't convince us to ever love the prequels.

I get the joke, but I have to ask (again) where did you got that idea from? When has he ever tried to convince anyone to love any of his movies?

I've already answered this question previously despite your obstinate refusal to understand a clear, simple point. Other posters (Harmy, 005) have chimed in, too, so I won't repeat myself. Hopefully you can figure it out on your own.

How is adding assets to the trilogy an attempt to convince people to love/like the prequels? There is a difference between accepting the prequels as part of the saga, and convince people to love them. That's why I keep asking for a source from your assumtion, because that's what it is.

You know what: except for the "NOOO" and the rocks in front of R2 disappearing, I'd be ok with all of this for a Special Edition. The unfreezing is very nice, the Ewok blinks hopefully are more consistent the the Gorn in "Star Trek Remastered" (we made the Gorn blink! Twice!), heck, even the Dug is ok. It's the fact that this is supposed to be Lucas' ultimate vision, and there's still wires, strings, seams, garbage mattes, color errors, and other things you know he hates but didn't have them fix, that's what gets me.

This. x1000

less arguments more screen caps!

I've only seen ANH, but I don't have an HDTV version to make a comparison. And since I'm far from home, I can't use the DVD's.

I've read your post before. I never said there's anything wrong with liking the PT as much as the OT. I said more people prefer the OT, and Lucas knows this. It's in his best interest to have people view the two trilogies as one saga so that they all continue to purchase SW products independent of OT/PT preferences. That would mean more profit for him. It's a pretty simple concept.

It's really not that hard to understand my original point. Again, I'm not arguing. I've been clarifying my original point but you're obsessed with creating an argument where there is none.

I won't repeat myself.

If you want to discuss this more, you can PM me. Otherwise, stop skewing my words and dragging this out, son.

'Son'?

Sigh...

It's called the Star Wars Complete Saga...

Lucas has gone on record many, many times claiming it's one saga, the main character is Vader, etc. There is no argument because there's nothing to argue.

But who's arguing that it's a saga or not?

Tell us how George wants the saga to be viewed? Think he likes the idea of people trashing the PT and wanting the UOT without his alterations?

Have you even read my previous post? It seems you've just ignored it.

You make as much sense as Obi-Wan screaming like someone lit his balls on fire.

You only show your lack of argumentation with such childlike behaviour.

Well, a great majority of SW fans disliked the PT.

If it's the majority or not, that remains to be seen.

Most of the PT enthusiasts were children when those movies came out. The PT is Lucas' trilogy, while the OT creatively belongs to a number of people.

Strawman.

Lucas wants people to like the PT as much as the OT so that the entire saga can thrive.

And where does that come from?

That's why you only get the special features discs with the complete set and not the individual trilogies.

You know, that works for those who like the PT only, too. And yes, there are people who do.

A considerable number of consumers would only buy the OT set if it had all the relevant deleted scenes and bonus features.

Speculation.

Not sure what you're trying to argue here, as you have no argument.

No. You are the one who has no argument when you say that "Lucas wants people to like the PT as much as the OT so that the entire saga can thrive." One doesn't need to like both trilogies the same, to accept it as one saga. Besides, that kind of argument (or lack of) is in the same extreme as Lucas gushers excuses.

Lucas wants SW to be one saga rather than two disparate trilogies. If you can't understand that, then you are lost! ;)

Another strawman.

I feel sorry for him thinking that he'll ever convince people to love the PT as much as the OT by adding all these changes and linking the two trilogies together by diminishing the OT's original charm.

I'm not sure how you got the assumption that he wants to convince people to love the PT as much as the OT. Not just because there is nothing that points to that, but because there is nothing wrong with people liking it as much as the OT.

Anyway, that "no nooo" from Vader is the second bad news I'm getting from this version (the first being the lightsabers). One inch closer to not buying the set.

I don't think the argument of "preservation of the movies with zero changes" is valid on this thread, since everyone knew from the start we were not getting them on this set. It's just a mute point.

I don't think you've used "mute" correctly.

I realize that now. Sorry, English is not my native language (and I needed to have my kenkraly moment).

At any rate, you are right that we knew we weren't getting the OOT in this set.  But the revelation that there are even more changes, that no one knew about, is fair game for discussion (and a bit of anger).

Just because we've accepted that Lucas will constantly say *$#@ you to the fans, doesn't mean it shouldn't bother us when he does it again.

My mistake, then. I assumed that since we were going to have the SE's on this set, people were already expecting more changes (for better or worse).

I understand the criticism of Lucas not releasing the OOT (and I support that criticism), but saying to stop tinkering with the special edition is a bit awkward. In my opinion, they are two different issues.

And adywan is making fanedits, not official releases.

Yet (some) people liked the changes Ady made, except when is George making them, they criticize it no matter what.

I don't think it's fair to compare changes he makes and changes Lucas makes...

I think it's fair to compare the reaction of people to the same kind of changes. What I think it's not fair is Lucas giving us a sub-par special edition. ;-)

I don't think the argument of "preservation of the movies with zero changes" is valid on this thread, since everyone knew from the start we were not getting them on this set. It's just a mute point.

The original eyes looked like teddy bear glass eyes (made worse because the masks often didn't fit and you could see the actors behind them).

If the effect works (and I can't check it on this computer) good for them but to fix that and not fix the previous cock ups on the original elements is half arsed.

Pretty much my opinion.

i mean Lukes saber is still green, yet they can add eyes to an ewok.

My thoughts exactly. Actually, I'm fine with that change, but if they've wasted so much effort on that, why not fix the damn lightsabers? How is George fine with them looking like that?

you see, this is the thing. i really don't care any more what changes he makes to these films as long as, before making any more changes, they at least get the basis of the films correct first; the colours and other issues created by the shoddy 2004 versions. So what happened to this "3 stages of quality control" they have been harping on about in the interviews?

Not only that, but the "fixed lightsabers" was their flagship when it comes to fixes for the Blu-rays.

I'm reallly hoping this is an unfinished version.
