General Star Wars Random Thoughts Thread

Fact is, he has been using that excuse numerous times before. That's the excuse that has graced us with stuff like rocks in front of R2, the turd that is CGI Jabba, Jedi Rocks, Darth Vader screaming "NO!" and a dead Hayden Christensen eyeing the woman who's supposed to be his daughter. I wouldn't be surprised if he's still spewing out this crap.

Wait, he gave an explanation about the Blu-ray changes?

Info Wanted: Which aliens/droids would you replace with Humans (or vice versa)?

While the Vulture Droids make sense in a Science Fiction context (as with the pilot free Cylon Raiders in NuGalactica) does it make sense visually in a Science Fantasy context?

Earlier ideas had droids piloting fighters like their human counterparts.

We see droids driving vehicles and piloting aircraft so would it make more visual sense to see them pilot the fighters instead of being the fighters?

I think we can still assume droids are piloting them. At least I don't recall anything in the movies that can prove otherwise.

I actually thought that the Battle Droids flew Vulture Droids when the movie first came out.

So did I.

But would you have aliens at the Hoth or Yavin bases?

When you look at those rebel troops in their trenches on Hoth it feels like a real battle, WWII with lasers.

Would it feel the same if some of those guys had tentacular faces?

It could still feel like a real battle. Only on a galaxy far, far away... I get your point though, but we shouldn't ignore the setting. Wookiees would fit great on Hoth.

ROTJ definitely needs more aliens in the Alliance. Not just Mon Calamari and Sullustans,

Oh, right. Forgot the Sullustan.

In my opinion, the aliens are what helps me to believe in the huge scope of the galaxy in Star Wars. It's one of the things I like in the PT over the OT. We see in the cantina (and later in Jabba's Palace) that there are many other species on this universe, and I find it very strange (from a narrative POV) that only humans formed the Rebel forces. Specially when the aliens are the ones being reprimanded. In RotJ we see a new species on the Alliance (Mon Calamari), but it's still lacking.

But answering to your question, I think Grievous is an example of an alien that could be replaced by an human. And for a dramatic stance, the droid army of the Separatists (although aliens would do, too).

saw the TPM 3D trailer

Actually, I don't think you should take away the DNR at all. I'm pretty sure they DNRed it specifically because of the 3D release and the 2D will most likely be just a 2D version of the 3D master.

Also, given LFL's history, it's quite possible that the new TPM master is 1080p only (not necessarily the scan but the master) so there's no guarantee that the resolution would be higher either.

Actually, this DNR'ed version from the BD's was made back in '99 for showing on digital theaters.

I really like the idea of Vader having his saber lit up, and ready for action when he enters the base.

I like the idea, but I think it's too soon on the video. Maybe only activate it from 1:51 onwards (on the video). This way it gives the idea that he could sense he's near, thus making more sense.

This may be old, but I noticed in this shot comparison that the blade is not aligned with the top of the hilt (on Luke's lightsaber). Can it be fixed?

Already been fixed:

The original lightsaber blade was attached to the hilt correctly. It was bent yes and that needed fixing, but not the way it was attached to the blade.

I was talking about the Revisited version, not the original. Anyway, Adywan got it fixed and that's what matters.

Are The Star Wars Movies Your Favourite Movies?

Yeah, I do actually prefer the DC of Watchmen

Yes, me too. I was asking because when I mentioned Watchmen I forgot to specify.

I have the 'Ultimate Cut' Watchmen DVD with 'The Black Freighter' edited into the DC. To be honest it's probably too long, really...

I agree. The Black Freighter works better in the book.
