Well the franchise is worse off than it was than in 1997. Even if Disney gives the OUT in 4K quality, we still have to deal with half a dozen films that just cover the same ground as ANH/ESB. How many times can you see AT-AT’s in a film before the audience gets bored? Disney is a far more cynical filmmaking company than prequel-era Lucas ever was.

Who cares man? In a few decades nobody will give a **** about the prequels or Disney movies. They will eventually be scrapped and become lost films. This site is about preserving the classics: the OOT.

I’m the opposite really. The ewoks are mostly okay by me, maybe just should have had some trims done in the cutting room. For me jabbas palace is the stinker in Jedi. Not Jabba himself, but all the Muppets he’s surrounded by and the excessive camp and cheese of many segments. (Fucking hate the thermal detonator sequence. If I ever get around to finishing my edit of rotj I’m removing it entirely and just having it inferred Leah and chewie are already there. ) marks performance in Jedi is great enough to not want to dismiss the film entirely though.

Jabba’s palace is too much at times. Leah and Chewie scene is perfectly fine with me. Mark’s acting is mostly good, but there is the occasional scene or at least moment where he misses the mark (when he gets handed over to Vader on Endor comes to mind).

But people wanted change. Even if that change was shit.

Precisely the point. The people will always gamble on the change candidate when they are not happy with the status quo. Doomsaying and identity politics is not going to deter them.

The solution is for the political establishment to root out corruption and get in better touch with the common man. If they don’t, they will be swept from power, sometimes by violent and evil forces.

This notion that Trump and Hillary are equally bad is, in my opinion, purely a product of an extraordinarily successful smear campaign. Before she was a candidate, Hillary was one of the most respected democrats among republicans:

That’s because she’s basically a pro-choice, pro-diversity Republican. She is further right than the first George Bush. She is not a liberal in any way, shape, or form.

My grandmother is the only democrat in my family. I am a liberal but do not consider myself a democrat. We are able to discuss politics with each other civilly and without a filter, whether we agree or disagree on an issue. The rest of our family are just nutters.

Anyway, after the election I told her I felt bad for her, because she’s getting up there in age, and I know it would have been a huge deal for women like her to see the first woman get elected president. They may not get another chance in their lifetime.

But at the same time, I felt relieved for younger women and girls. It would have been abhorrent for someone like Hillary to have been their first female president. Hopefully the day will come sooner rather than later, when a woman will get elected who they (and we) can all be proud of.

Hillary Clinton would not have been that person.

Trump doesn’t know the details and doesn’t care. And the GOP plan was a joke.

I’m for single-payer. If the government is going to get involved in healthcare, they should do it right and actually fund the damn thing so everyone has it. Stop fighting mercenary wars in other countries to steal people’s resources, save money, and spend it back home domestically where it is badly needed for a better quality of life.

As Obamacare stands, it is doomed to fail and it is political suicide for the Democrats to rope up with a sinking ship.

SJW is a criticism of faux-liberals. The kind of people who are tripping over themselves to be more politically correct and more inclusive than everyone else, not in the interest of promoting liberal ideals, but in the interest of promoting themselves and improving their social status.

Of course, that’s not what liberalism is about. It’s a horrible problem the left has these days.

I’d recommend The Guardian (https://www.theguardian.com/uk) as a decent alternative source to the BBC (and the BBC News’ kowtowing down to the Conservative Party in recent years - likely for fear of cuts to it’s licence fee by them).

I’m just an American, so it’s hard for me to comment on the British press, but I agree about the Guardian. I started reading Glenn Greenwald there (and although he left) I try to never miss anything he writes.
