4K restoration on Star Wars

This is why fans of the OOT get such a bad wrap in other segments of the Star Wars fandom.

Some of us could care less what people who love the prequels think.

I’d take the nonsense from people who worship George Lucas over trash like this or the crap Alderaan posts any day of the week.

Perhaps you’re surrounding yourself with the wrong people. By that I mean, read the name of the board.

Making fun of the prequels is one thing, I do it all the time. But knocking people for their taste in films is definitely taking it too far.

The movies are bad. They like them. Therefore they like bad movies. If they are so insecure that they feel bad about liking the movies based on someone’s comment who they have never met before, then perhaps the foundation of their fondness for those bad movies is not that solid after all.

People should be respectful to Hayden or any other actor who never did anything wrong to them. Otherwise you’re just a nutcase. The beef is with George, not Hayden.

That said, there is nothing wrong with mocking prequel lovers and belittling their bad taste. Kids these days don’t watch those movies. It’s teens and 20somethings that watched them when they were kids and lack the temperament to grow out of childish things that were never any good in the first place.

Now we’re getting to the difference between the originals and the prequels. In one set of films, George’s garbage ideas weren’t present. In the other movies, he ran amok.

Disney, creatively bereft as they are, unable to think up any plots or write their own stories, decided to go back and mine George’s junk ideas and pass them off as official. There you go.

Yeah, it is a bullshit answer. Going by your logic, nobody brushes their teeth, trims one’s nails, takes showers, does the dishes, walks the family pet, reads a book, has sex, or takes a dump in the SW Universe either because the OT never shows that happening. Every soul’s just a black-toothed, claw-bearing, filthy, petless, illiterate, asexual, constipated individual with tons of dirty dishes pilled up in their sink.

I think you got lost in the forest somewhere, Duracell.

It was definitely not a bullshit answer. Style is one of the most important aspects of films. Your mileage may vary.

The OT straddled a very fine line between that which is and that which is not but could possibly be. It never veered into fantasy make-believe stuff. Even the presentation of The Force was carefully crafted and cultivated by people much more talented than George Lucas.

It was actually when those voices were no longer involved in the making of the movies, that you got George’s ideas for what Star Wars was really about: midichlorians, video game battles between fighters, etc.

I’m not 100% sure what you are referring to in your post?

Sorry, I thought my post was more clear. The magic crystal thing is not Star Wars. You won’t find **** like that in the original three movies. Some creatively challenged animated TV-writer of limited ability, or some creatively challenged EU author of limited writing ability, came up with it out of his ***, and Disney’s creatively bankrupt hacks decided to borrow it, as they are accustomed to doing.

It wasn’t science fiction. It wasn’t spiritual. It wasn’t space opera. It was hack, junior high magic fantasy genre stuff that is not Star Wars. Pretty simple really.

This was one of the dumbest things in R1. If you go back and look at the original trilogy, there was no pseudo-scientific explanation for how anything worked. Lightsabers simply existed, a very small number of people had them and used them, and that’s all you needed to know.

As this was a spin-off anthology film, I might have found something like this interesting, if the filmmakers had really made a true science-fiction film, including extensive research and thorough presentation. But it’s really just a bunch of wannabes who don’t know anything, making something up out of their *** and thinking “yeah, that’ll work”.

It wasn’t Star Wars. It wasn’t science fiction. I don’t know what it was.
