SFX details you never knew were in the OT until you saw them on DVD?
Time
I just can't understand (besides the obvious wish for money) why on earth Lucasfilm would RUSH the greatest films of all time through restoration! Why not wait until everyone had plenty of time after ROTS was finished. If I were them, I would allowed as much time as it takes, and If I were Lucas, I would have painstakingly ensured that every little detail was exactly how I wanted before the final DVDs were printed. I mean, the job the did on the audio to ANH was horrible. It would constantly change focus, and most of the time sounded very echoed.

In all seriousness, I'm glad you liked it. We all knew you would. Congratulations.

As said

Are you as excited and as patienly waiting as some of us are for Ocpmovie's Return of the Jedi Classic Edition

Yes. I'm most looking forward to the Lapti Nek video. I have listened to the song itself, but have never seen that scene.

ESB (OOT version) - My thoughts

Today, I received ocpmovie's ESB classic edition. And it wass the first time I have seen the original version, as manuy of you know. These are a few of my quick thoughts:

*I like the suspense of the original Wampa scene. It builds up the tension. Yet, I still feel the Wampa could have been seen just a little more than it was.

*The matte paintings in cloud city give it a completely different feel. There seems to be a certain charm about the matte paintings portraying the city.

*When I listened to the performance of the Clive Reville Emperor, I was like "Damn!" His performance actually sounds closer to Ian than Ian's did in the 2004 version. Strange. I mean, he had that same demonic smile Ian always gave in all of his other portrayal of Palps, and seemed to talk faster, like Ian usually does. Hmm.

Read Shadows of the Empire, then. He has went on record saying that he liked it so much that, had he had the story in the 80's, would have likely made a film version. As I said on up the page, he even had Dash Rendar's ship, the Outrider and a speeder bike from SOTE inserted into the ANH SE.

Then they didn't have such a system. Authors merely wrote what they wanted. Nowadays, all of that material, if it doesn't fit, is somehow retconned, or, if it is unsalvagable, is completely thrown out. Though they usually don't throw completely things out, due to an author's hard work. For instance, they're even attemptuing to keep some of that weird Marvel Comics stuff from the 80's in continuity. And.. since it doesn't contradict anything, they have even kept the holiday special in continuity! Yay!

But they do consider it canon. That's the point. Leland Chee (aka Tasty Taste for all you SW.com users) keeps the Holocron continuity database of all EU works. Its purpose is for Lucas and any authors who are writing a new book to look at to make sure that they keep everything in continuity.

Who hear thinks Jedi would have been more dramatic if Han Solo died?

ROTJ is just fine as it is. But it *would* have been even better if:

1) Lando died destroying the second death star, taking the Millennium Falcon out with him.
2) The forest battle had been set on Kashyyyk, with Chewbacca leading a Wookiee revolt against the empire and Han ultimately dying to save him.

Point 2 I like. Point 1 I don't. If Lucas would have chosen that, he would have followed the old cliche of having the black man die.

We already had something to illustrate loss and horror - Empire Strike Back.

And Revenge of the Sith.

We did not have RotS at the time of RotJ. We have it now, but we did not have it then.

I know that.

Yes, as I said above, he has incorporated multiple aspects of the EU into his movies, and has explained in interviews that, although he himself doesn't read it, he reallizes that their are many stories to be told, and his company hires talented people to tell those stories.
