I partly agree with you there. Even though I didn't experience it as some of you did in 78', I feel something close to nostalgia when I see the holiday special. I can't really explain what it is.

And by the way, does this site generally also support the release of the holiday special on DVD?

Once again, you should have asked us first before you saw it. With the holiday special, if you go in expecting something great, you will be quite disappointed. You see, I was warned heavily of its bad quality. I went in expected it to be horrible and as a result found it to be better than they told me. And, I wouldn't blame Lucas for the quality, as he only wrote the story for it. It was the scriptwriters/directors/producers who messed things up.

I think that book will be cool. It's supposed to be set between TPM and AOTC and involve (somewhat) Obi-Wan and Anakin. And since Timothy Zahn is writing, it should be excellent as most of his books are.

Yeah, I mean, have you guys even read some of the GOOD EU like the thrawn trilogy or Shadows of the Empire? If you are so partial to the OT, then these books would best suit you. You don't have to read prequel-related books like that god-awful book The Approaching Storm.

From your point of view that is. But have you ever actually read any of the EU? IMHO, it ties together the films VERY well. And besides, Lucasfilm considers all things not contradicting the films just as canon as the films are. Sometimes I just don't get people who refuse to read EU and refuse to enjoy things for what they are.

I agree with you on the fuck ups being a bad part of the DVDs. I meant that generally, I like the changes to them. I know that he will fix all of this for the archival eidtions, I just don't get why he didn't wait to do the initial DVD release. Yeah, I know he wanted the money, but, the current DVDs, even when they were released, were obviously not the final product. Everyone that bought the discs knew that. And then Lucasfilm had the nerve to put THE SAME transfers on the Dec 6 release! What the hell is wrong with them?!?

Yes, they are only for Hyperspace members. Although there is a loophole to getting free hyperspace until April 2006 that involves the ROTS DVD.

Yes. I feel that what he should do is release two versions in 2007: the "archival editions" and the original cuts for those that want them. Both versions should be presented on Blu-ray discs.

Yeah. Like I said in another thread, one thing you have to give him credit for is allowing the creation and distribution of fan preservations, edits, and films that freely use his copyrighted material. I believe at one point he even said he was interested in seeing The Phantom Edit and was planning to watch the fanfilm Star Wars: Revelations.
