I often wonder what ROTJ would have looked like had Spielberg directed. I imagine it would have been just as good, if not better. Oh well, it didn't happen. I'm happy the way it looks from 1983.
When I found out that Spielberg was originally to direct i was like: "Damn you Director's Guild! Damn you to hell!"
But seriously, what honestly prevented Lucas from getting Spielberg? Couldn't he have just told the Director's Guild to fuck off, and have Spielberg direct anyway?
Well, as someone above said: it was an homage to American Graffiti. Myself, when I saw it, I loved the idea of a 50s diner like that on Coruscant. It works fine for me, I don't see what the big deal is.

I suppose he would require something extra for that.

Next you'll be telling me they speak English in Star Wars!
What? They do! No way! What's wrong with Lucas?!? Why would there be English in a galaxy far, far away?!? See, that's what makes the Star Wars films so stupid. Everyone knows that there can't be English in the GFFA!
That is one of the most insanely bad ideas Lucas has come up with! I now officially hate Star Wars because they speak English in it!
But on the DVDs it says "all three classic films, restored and remastered." So, either he is completely ignoring the rules, or is outside of the range, since he quite the director's guild.
1. You often make the Darth Vader breathing sounds. - Yep. 2. Someone you know thinks you are way too obsessed with Star Wars. - EVERYONE. 3. The next time you buyalcohol, you plan to say the following, even if you are not asked to show your ID: "You don't need to see my identification. I'm not the underage drinker you're looking for. I can go about my business. Move along." - Might work. 4. You've seen trash cans that look like R2D2 - That's not a trashcan that's R2-D2! 5. You listen to the Star Wars soundtracks more often than you listen to any other music - No, alomst as much. 6. During a conversation, someone says a word (ex: stench) and you start quoting Star Wars because of it. - Yep. 7. You often say "I have a bad feeling about this." - When the situation presents itself. 8. You think anyone who doesn't know that Vader is Luke's father has serious issues - Of course. 9. You've dressed up as a Star Wars character for Halloween - Obi-Wan (my favorite character) 10. You've called someone a nerf herder - Not yet...

Notice that Robert Rodriguez hasn't referred to his movies as "films" since he started shooting digital. I believe they've been referred to as a "flick", "digital file", "game" and "comic book" during the opening credits. I might be slightly wrong on the exact wording there, but my point still stands.
I know. My point is that the term "film" has now been applied by Lucas to things shot on digital. I think the term now means the general motion picture. It's similar to how some people still say "taped" when recording a TV program with a DVD recorder.

We're a good bunch, aren't we. *grin* It's a badge of honor if we have been banned (more than once) from either or both boards. We are the true Rebel Alliance.
Just for the record, I've been banned around five times from TF.N; for the exact reasons listed above. When I created a thread criticizing TF.N and how they operate, they locked the thread, giving that same crap about "If you don't like us, don't post here." Then I came back several times just trying to hold regular conversations, and they banned me for posting "unfavorable" ideas.

I'm working in-depth on the soundtrack now. I'm drawing from a myriad of sources including John Williams material (from his filmography, nothing too recognizable), Joel McNeely's "Shadows of the Empire", ureleased tracks from the "TPM video game", "The Knights of the Old Republic 2", and unreleased material from ROTS and AOTC that was featured in "Battlefront II". I also MIGHT take some cues from the Ewoks movies soundtracks if appropriate.
"Your apprentice, Skywalker will be." - Yoda in TPM
"As my first act under this new authority, I will create a grand army of the Republic, that will counter the increasing threat of the Seperatists." Palpatine in AOTC
"In order to ensure the security and continuing stability, the Republic will be reorganized into the first Galactic Empire! … for a safe and secure society!" - Palpatine in ROTS
"I want to come with you to Alderaan. There's nothing for me now. I want to learn the ways of the Force, and become a Jedi like my father." - Luke in ANH
"I am your father" - Vader in ESB
""I am a Jedi... like my father before me" - Luke in ROTJ
"You already have Luke. You were right. You were right about me. Tell your sister, you were right. - Anakin in ROTJ

I was going to head over there and get myself permanently banned. Anyone have any ideas on what I should do? I don't want to spam or troll or anything. I just want one great post that causes me to get a permanent lifetime ban.
Originally posted by: ReverendBeastly And if we're going to get really technical, AOTC and ROTS weren't filmed, because it was a filmless process. They were either "shot" or "taped".
I know. But people still refer to it as a film. That has become the general name for the media as an artform. I reallize that AOTC and ROTS weren't technically filmed, but the term "filmed" I think has come to mean any process where a motion picture is captured into the camera.
When you guys start editing the films together, can you add in some music from the Shadows of the Empire soundtrack? It would work well IMHO, especially if incorporated into ESB and ROTJ, which of course is what the entire SotE story was meant to bridge the story between. So what do ya say?
Originally posted by: none The only Star Wars movie in 1080p so far is AotC, right?
Well, it and ROTS were filmed in 1080p. The others (TPM, ANH, ESB, ROTJ) were shot on film, and have to be scanned into the computer and cleaned up, in order to have 1080p quality.
