"And finally, here's a bit of news that's going to get a lot of you excited (and I made a point to specifically ask about this title, believe me)... Ridley Scott's Blade Runner (1982) is currently on track for release as a multi-disc special edition in time for its 25th anniversary in 2007. The release is far from certain (as usual, there's a lot more that I can't post about this title yet - think of the old saying, "Loose lips sink ships"), but Warner says that work is proceeding, most of the key players are involved and things are "looking good" for release next year. We'll see."

Indeed. Really, I don't think it would have had such a bad reaction from people and would be more well-liked if it would have cut out all of the guest star stuff. If it would have just focused on the struggle of Chewbacca to get home, and Chewie's family, I think people would have liked it more.

Well, to me, it just flows better when you see Yoda meditating (you know, before Bail Organa walks in the room). You don't know about what esxactly, but the camera focuses on Yoda enough to let you know he is meditating. And then it comes off as more of a shock when he explains it to Obi-Wan. We learn at that moment, just as Obi-Wan is, of the ting with Qui-Gon.

Now, imagine if Lucas had included the scene with Qui-Gon. To the viewer, Yoda's revelation to Obi-Wan would have seemed somewhat repetitive, and wouldn't have as much of a "WTF was that? Cool. Wow!" reaction, since the viewer would already know everything by seeing Qui-Gon telling all of this to Yoda.

I think it's cool that it gives us something to think about. And.. if we want a specific answer, we can choose to read the novel.
