The story, while having a lot of potential, falls flat on its ass because of the writer being unable to get it across well. The acting is stiff, wooden, and all-in-all, something that would make Keanu Reeves proud (which is why I dislike the Matrix movies, but don't get me started). The special-effects don't look real. They don't look like something I can touch with my hands. They look like friggin' cartoons. This has nothing to do with my love of the OOT. This has to do with my love of film, and the art form that it truly is. The prequels are "Plan 9 From Outer Space" with good effects.

THEY

ARE

BAD

MOVIES.

GET ME?

And to me THEY ARE NOT BAD MOVIES. Get me?

But, to me, most effects in the OOT hold up, but some don't. I don't like the old lightsabers, I don't like the puppet Yoda, I don't like the model Tantive IV, etc. Most of my complaints are with ANH, not ESB or ROTJ. ANH still needs some serious work. At the beginning, he needs to replace the Tatooine matte paintings with a better looking Tatooine.

Of course most of your complaints are with ANH and not the other two! You haven't seen them!

No, I'm talking, even compared to the 2004 versions of the OT.

Blade Runner OV vs. DC

No I have not. But, before you go calling blasphemy, I, once again, am VERY aware of the changes. The voiceover was in the OV. The unicorn dream was not present in the OV. The "happy ending" was in the OV. And I prefer the DC, because the voiceover ruins the ambiguous feel of the movie, the dream sequence brings up the idea that Deckard may be a replicant, and the "happy ending" once again, destroys any trace of ambiguity.

So be it. If that is your opinion of me, then fine. And my opinion of you is that you hold on to your beloved OOT so much, that you fail to see the greatness in the PT. If you payed any attention to my posts, you would reallize that I like the OT just as much as I do the PT. They have equally compelling stories. It's just that, to me, the SFX enhances those stories. That, is why I do not care for the OOT version, but I do the OT itself.

OK, I didn't come here interested in preservation of the OOT. I came here from a link to GG's Return of the Ewok preservation, which I was looking for at the time.

I am a very very different type of Star Wars fan than most I have found at this site. To me, SW is NOT all Luke's story, and I have NO nostalgia associated with the OOT. I greatly enjoy all aspects of it, just as much as the PT, but I see it as one saga, of which Luke's story is one half of. I LIKE changes to the OT. Just like Lucas, I see the OOT as a rough draft. I can never see the OOT the way you do because I didn't see it first, nor did I grow up with it. I am from a new generation of Star Wars fans who see everytyhing differently.

Because, as I've said before, I'm interested in general preservation of rare or unreleased Star Wars footage. You know, the holiday special, old commercials, original cuts of the ewok movies, TV cuts of the Clone Wars series, etc.

It's official, George is really losing it (claims more changes to the OT to come...)

Yeah, he meant that seeing the PT will allow you to see the OT in a new light, which are his intentions. He hasn't lost it. But, there will no doubt be more changes.
