***The ADigitalMan non-Star Wars DVD Info and Feedback Thread***
Time
Interesting thought. I moved the Hagrid scene where I did as it looked more like Harry was nervous around Hagrid, thinking he was the one who'd opened the Chamber after the vision from Riddle's diary. Didn't Hagrid say "It's the second one killed this term" or something to that effect?
That would explain why he was seen twice with dead chickens. Being to lazy to pick up my copy and scan through it, I could be making that up in my mind though. ;-)

As far as the audio issue, unfortunately the deleted scenes are only presented in 2.0. I've had to assign them to the two channels in the surround mix, leaving the other channels empty. Now that I'm learning how to upmix, I hope I can fix that for GOF.

THE FAN EDIT CONTEST HAS A WINNER !!! REVIEWS IN OFF TOPIC FORUM
Time
My dear old friend Darth Enzo has completed the first of what will be four "collectible" covers for the Pearl Harbor re-edit. I'm uploading it for him so it gets in under the wire for this year's contest. The others will follow, but not until after the 1st. Way cool stuff.

Here's the link to cover one and the disc art (link will be good for one week).

Enjoy,

Editing video & keeping 5.1?
Time
Womble MPEG Video Wizard will do it without recompressing the signal, provided you do no manipulation of the volume in any form. You can make straight cuts and get the same output ... and it's darn fast as a result (just as fast as your disc will write). One other thing ... you have to be sure any multiple sources are all at the same bitrate. No mixing 5.1 and 2.0 sources to get 5.1 output.

I wish Anakin and Padme had been played by......
Time
I think that's very true. Liam, Ewan, Ian McD, Christopher Lee ... they all did quite well in spite of Lucas. Natalie, Jake and Hayden were all horribly wooden.

Thing is, Harrison Ford had the balls to say "You can type this, George, but you can't say it." So he improvised lines and worked some of the wordy crap down to what ultimately sold on screen. As I understand it, the "I Love You/I Know" from ESB was whittled down by Harrison and Carrie from a page and a half of typical Lucas dialogue. But in the Prequels, none of the actors said "You know, I think I'll use a contraction here where it doesn't have one so it'll roll of the tongue better." The result: "You are studying to be a Jedi, I am a Senator. If you follow your thoughts to conclusion they will take us to a place that we cannot go."

Find the damned apostrophe on a typewriter, George.

The casting of Anakin was bad all the way around. I honestly think that even with the same crappy scripts and directing, the prequels would have been a thousand times better if Haley Joel Osment played Anakin in Ep 1 and Leo DiCaprio had played him in Ep 2-3.

But in an ideal world, everybody would have been older and it wouldn't have been this "teen steam" we got. No Qui-Gon -- Kenneth Branagh as Obi-Wan (older and wiser from the start, like Ewan played him in RotS), Leo or Christian Bale or even Russell Crowe (who, back in 1999, wasn't the megastar he's since become), all who could actually pass for a young Sebastian Shaw. Somebody who was going to be 30ish at the time of Ep III.

And somebody less demure for Amidala. Perhaps Izabella Scorupco or Kate Beckinsale (I'd pair the former with Crowe, the latter with DiCaprio or Bale).

What else? There wouldn't be a Naboo; it would have been set on Alderaan, so we'd give a damn when it is destroyed in Ep IV. Darth Maul would have survived through to Episode III, where Vader would kill him to take his place at Palpatine's side upon a genuine lure to the dark side in a quest for power. The Wookiees and the Alliance heads (esp. Mon Mothma, Dodonna, and Ackbar) would have figured into the plot significantly. And we wouldn't have seen force lightning from anybody other than Palpatine. Preferably against Yoda for the first time.
