¤ THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK ¤ The "OPTIMUM EDITION" Score Reconstruction, Remixing & Restoration Version 3 (Released)
Time

The "2010" Optimum version is on the launch. Post 2 has been updated (no edit changes, only the tracklist).

The major mixing changes are for CD1 and mostly the first half, and only if you had time to listen it well you may appreciate the difference. What is the difference by the way ? On the previous version I mostly wanted to show the clarity of the tracks in general, what was not the best particularity to focus on. So on the new one I tried my best to restrain and concentrate the sound from these mixings to the essential. This may be more obvious to catch on the SE and Anthology tracks, though some subtle improvements were still possible on the RSO ones.

CD2 doesn't offer so much potential for the remixing, due to the average quality of this part of the score (SE and Anthology). No big changes then, just tried to make all this sound as good as I could again. However some tracks changes, and more film versions film edit (mostly from a previous project, so you may note a difference in the mixings).

Keep in mind I live in a very small town and only started buying them a few months ago. Doesn't matter how cheap they are if you can't find them. ;)

Obviously. Anyway, having everything you can dream of around you is not totally an advantage. You may learn more when you are "poor". ;)

I would like some more rock and metal for sure. I hope I can get more Van Halen. Deep Purple would be nice. Same with Emerson, Lake & Palmer.

There was a time when I was going to some friends and listen old metal albums through vinyls... Wow ! A real travel through time ! CD's lose everything about this genre.

I'm always only half serious. I seriously don't take myself too seriously, if you prefer ;) (Remember... I'm Ric's father)

But why not... My last ESB restoration project has been mostly saved by the 1985 CD pressing and the 7FN LP's transfers... Do you believe it ?!! I think it's really not serious. If these transfers had no cracklings they probably filled almost the half of my edit.

I never said that. I AM 3/4 French (both paternal grandparents), 1/4 Scottish (maternal grandfather).

Oh sorry, but I would have better understood in french ! ;)

Oh, and that was from a PM. You know, private message.

I didn't mention who !

And who cares if I've mentioned my LPs a few times? If the situation fits, why not?

Yeah, but I share my random thought of the moment: it deserves a topic. Definitively.

... No more thought for the moment.

Ramdom thought:

Ripplin should really make a topic about his Star Wars and 2001: A Space Odyssey LP's since I hear about them (third time now in 9 months).

Please don't forget to mention the weight, the elasticity, the precise lap time when you can hear a crack etc... :)

Other ramdom thought:

Why does a guy speak to me 1/4 French, 3/4 English when it is to invite me to be part of a french connection, and also when he tells me he speaks 3/4 French, 1/4 English !!?...

... LoL !

It's funny how review sites tend to favour the SE's as having better sound quality than older releases, when clearly that's not the case.

Yeah, it is the eternal problem between medias and self-judgement. If you check for exemple a 19th century chemistry book from "Google book", copy a sentence concerning an experience or discovery and copy that sentence in the search field, you may be amazed to see how many books of the same period contain the exact same sentence, most of the time written by authors wanting to make it their own... This of course, without making the experience for themselves or checking an other method.

... Ignorance exploiting the general ignorance while pretending to dispense knowledge. Nothing new.
