Star Wars Prequels/Original Trilogy: The Complete Scores (Released)
Time

I would like to wait until there's a lull... let GGCTUK find some more of the pieces, then make my edit and send it to ABC and get his final revision on it.

Made me think of my first attempt of EQ's on a SW score. Indeed I grabbed GM 4CD set one (edit>) or two - years ago and as usual couldn't let go a bunch of particularities before burning it.

I took 2 days working on a 3CD set from it (sorry, I'm not that much a completist) but of course it would have deserved more time. I don't remember exactly what I've done or what was bothering me (though I kinda remember there was perhaps loud lows on a big part of the score). Anyway I missed a lot of things on it, notably the volume settings of half the set which were too loud... It was not meant to be perfect however, notably when the downloaded set was MP3... (Ooooohhhhhhh ! Bad !!!) :)

GM hasn't heard this revisited set, nobody else besides as it was not meant to be shared (and is still not).

... Just for fun I though the current discussion was a good occasion to post a couple of tracks. As far as I haven't kept the original set I can't tell how far it makes a difference. Perhaps GM or someone who still has it can...

Then, here are:

 • Main Title
 • Droid Invasion
 • Gungan March
 • The Battle Begins

Samples (Flac, but lossy source)

J. Williams & LSO, The EMPIRE STRIKES BACK AUDIOPHILE EDITION - Restored & Remastered Score (Released)
Time

This project as its roots here... The "OE" was made undirectly available for months from here... If you try to find feedbacks in the thread nevertheless, there are not easy to find. That explains the "bizarre" discussions we had one or two pages ago...

Note that there are no more feedbacks besides for a set that was yet quite a piece of work (excepted the one from Savage here a few posts before and the one from Jaxon I allowed me to quote before).

I'm pretty sure they used the same master, I would be very surprised if they did more than one master edit of the score.

Agreed. It wouldn' t make sense unless there was a new "enhancing" technology to explore.

The only "mix" word creates confusion making a few people think it has been redone (it seems).

You'll overwork yourself surely?

Thanks to care. I would if I meant to work all the score again, but no way ! Jedi just doesn't worth it.

As I said someone proposed the LP to me, and if it is as mint as I understood and can use directly the tracks, to enhance the best tracks from the Anthology for a 30/35mn add may be quite "easy" and fast as far as I remember enough what was their problem. Fortunately the best tracks are the ones wich sound the better (almost).

Anyway, Empire was the most important as the most problematic for me. Once it's done I have all my life to go on the others !

You rock :) Thanks !

Wow, didn't expect it existed like this without text. Mine is a housemade melt of the two different versions (vynil + violet poster).

EDIT: Ok, I saw your edit. But I can't see the difference (note: there are funny traces like painting, mostly down/right...)

Any thoughts on using the classic logo on the cover?

I was just thinking the same thing, I'm really fond of the classic logos.

For now I reserve the classic logo for the cover of the "digipack" (by this I mean "hardcover", kind of cardboard made book cover. If you know the original SE release you get the idea) - Or CD cover.

Also I studied some of the collectors in every kind of music I have at home and one gave me the great idea to have in the cardboard-book presentation, the tree CD's put in vinyl-like sleeves (one for each). Then I may re-arrange the main covers made for the OE for the sleeves... Unless I make them blank and prepare one "cover" for each in the booklet for the discs presentation.

Oh, no... I' m not running out of ideas ! :)

Also, if you think it's too much work to assemble (or too expensive) and need to simplify the whole, you'd be able to tinker with all of this and make a simpler set. For instance: one box, two CD cases (one simple, one double) + the whole inserted with the booklet (if you have the chance to print and make it of course). You may also reduce the booklet and only keep the main liner notes wich will be the only pages to have numbers. Then you don't need the box anymore. From simple to "mega-deluxe" edition, all is possible.

Oh and btw... I already tried: (if you both say it looks better maybe I'll think twice !)

If you want a hi-res of it, let me know. (it's the original hand made one, not a re-creation)

Here's mine at 100 %... Big enough ? :) It may look a bit dirty but it isn't.

Also the one I'm using has been used since 1980 (even apart from the SW logo that surrounds it):

Just you have to pay attention you have the good version of the one I'm using (in the contrary of the big one findable through Google).

Is my DVD to WAV audio rip real lossless ?...
Time

There is a simple default tool in the accessories under Windows that is named "Magnetophone". It allows you to create or record files in Wav form from 8,000 Khz 8bits mono to 48,000 Khz 16bit Stereo.

You just have to run your music (DVD or whatever) + to take care of the 3 main volumes, and cut all others (microphone/aux, etc...). I use to fix wave vol. at maxi, recording vol very low, and computer main volume more or less low.

...

... Am I the only one to use these toys ?

So not a real "rip" I imagine, as I guess it's an immediate stereo convertion of the DVD audio...? To notice I don't know a damn thing about the audio properties from DVD. (But I guess there may be more than 2 channels...)

Is my DVD to WAV audio rip real lossless ?...
Time

Hi, I'd like to rip a couple of audio tracks from a musical DVD for an edit. As I'm untutored to PCM audio rip, nor to the audio channel matter if there are dialogues were it can be removed, I mean to record it with the default magnetophone of my computer and edit the few seconds of unwanted dialogues with another mix that should fit.

The DVD concerned is actually "Star Wars A Musical Journey" and is said to have a high bitrate and very good sound quality.

... So the question is: is the conversion made in such a way is good / accurate, or is there any loss occuring ?

As stated two posts before, I just renewed this thread in the Art section and posted a couple more attempts for the covers:

Need any colour correction on that booklet? LOL

You may be surprised if I told you what is my real area for living... So thank you but you won't have too much to complain about this I think :). I'm not here to spend my most precious skills in vain however, but only to share the fruit of an aside hobby ! ;)

Edit: btw, I have to thank you again for your first comments in the thread, what I'll do in a next post. You'll understand soon...
