"Champions of the Force"; Holly's Attack of the Clones edit (Work In Progress)
Time

About the Obi/Mace scene and the theatrical version with Obi/Mace/Yoda do we really need it in the movie ?
We have a previous Jedi council scene where they assign the Kamino mission, and there should be some urgency to this.
It’s odd having Obi-Wan speaking to Mace in a relaxed manner when he needs to pursue the Bounty Hunter.
So I’d just cut this scene out.

Original Trilogy "Faces" LD Preservation & Upscale project (Released)
Time

Just to add that the colorspace on those LDs is different from what’s used today on most devices (sRGB).

In fact, there are 3 NTSC color spaces, with the older ones having more information than sRGB:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_spaces_with_RGB_primaries#Specifications_with_RGB_Primaries

And those LDs might even use the older (pre 1987) NTSC primaries ( https://www.saji8k.com/displays/color-space/ntsc-1953/ ), that give a larger color space than sRGB.

This is technical, but something to take into account if you are interested in preserving the original color timing.
You need to convert the colorspace to get that.

A quick conversion of the stills posted above to sRGB gives me this:

No clue on how to do it for a video file…

I’ll explain better later, but you can check AOTC for good examples of digital zooming and panning 😁

OK here’s a good example of what I’m talking about:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mDyGc68hpM

All the zooms and most of the pans on that video are digital. That is, they were added in editing to create dynamic and better framing. You can do the same with Jedi’s mostly static effect shots. Just don’t go crazy with it, zoom only up to 105%, it doesn’t need much.

(if you like the video please subscribe to the channel - it’s mine 😉 and it really needs a boost 😉 )

Info: Star Wars - The Lost Cut is not exactly what you think it is....
Time

Good work on the shoot out!
For the the main problem remaining in your version is that we hear those arms grabbing the Tantive, but on the exterior shot the ship is still being pulled.
Perhaps you can use some Rogue One footage to make up for the missing footage ?
There’s a shot from the Destroyer towards the Tantive that might work.

Frankly I don’t think TLJ contradicts TFA, it’s really only TLJ and TRoS that cause issues with each other.

Strongly disagree here.
The characters are not the same between TLJ and the other two. It’s like we are seeing alternate universes…

Let’s consider Luke’s sabre. If you go with TLJ take on the universe, the sabre is not important.
But it’s central to TFA and very important in TROS. That’s a contradiction to me 😉

This is not about liking TJL or not. I don’t, but I’d still love to see a ST redux expanding on it’s themes 😃

Geonosis is also poorly edited with many out of sequence scenes.

Could you elaborate on what is specifically out of sequence? I don’t recall anything out of sequence continuity wise…Or are you referring to overall tone?

The most noticeable part is Mace’s entrance.
It’s possible to tighten it and the interaction with Jango, Doku & Mace.
Here’s my version: https://streamable.com/tqa5n
Just sharing because it explains better what I mean, I don’t wish to hijack the thread.
My point is just that Geonosis can be improved 😉

THE JEDI'S APPRENTICE: AOTC Edit Video-Breakdowns (Edit Released)
Time

Saw the first few minutes. Editing itself is good, but the opening doesn’t work for me. Specially the forest scene, it doesn’t match the style of the movie at all.
But I really like the way dialog is edited, it’s well done and a improvement over the original. Good work 😉

If I may, I suggest you start by tackling the pursuit/disco scene and the Geonosis arena fight.
For me those are the most challenging sequences regarding action sequence tone. Geonosis is also poorly edited with many out of sequence scenes. I think that if you succeed in getting them right, the rest of the edit will go smoothly.

Are you considering story changes or sequence reorder ?
I have some suggestions based on things I’ve tried and work well, but don’t want to steal your thread 😉

Yes, a physical fight. They fight somewhere (some planet, doesn’t matter where) as a flashback, just like the flashbacks to Luke’s Jedi temple destruction.
We don’t see the end of the fight, but understand that it was inconclusive, and the reason why Luke retired to his island.

Interesting but very ambitious, any idea on how to go about it?

Haven’t tried but I agree that the background might be a problem with those walkers.
But the way I see it I’d cut between Luke going about alone and sad on the island and the flashbacks. This way there would be less continuity problems. You only need some seconds of fight really, not the complete sequence.

For me it makes sense that we get OT characters at the start of the ST, but then move on to the new ones.
So Luke should only fight at the beginning and then become a secondary character, only training Rey.
He fails with Ben’s training but succeeds with Rey, thus completing his arc *.

Just an idea, very personal but it’s something I’d like to see. 😉

 • another option is having both Luke and Leia to force project into Kylo, and then die at the same time. Makes perfect sense and also completes their arcs.

My problem with the reunion scene is that we get the hierarchy like this: Lando > Solo > Leia > Luke

OK, it’s like that from an operational POV (Achbar and Madine sort of explain it).

But it should be Leia & Luke > Solo > Lando.
Leia is the leader, but Luke is the only one capable of fighting Vader, so they are at the same level. Lando comes last just because he joined latter.
So having them enter the scene by this order makes more sense to me.

Another problem is that Han looks out of character by not having his shuttle crew ready. Luke can still come in and take the somebody else’s place.
And why does Han thank Luke for the rescue again ? Makes no sense since they had that conversation when leaving Tatooine. (if you count the deleted sandstorm scene, they have the same conversation 3 times 😉 )

Just stuff for you to think about on your edit 😉

Just some ideas I had for a possible 3 in 1 mix of all the ST movies:

 • The Sith Fleet is at StarKiller base (mix StarKiller with Exegol )
 • Mix Sith Fleet firing with StarKiller base firing
 • Use Luke’s force projection as a real fight between them after Luke’s temple is destroyed
 • Have two attacks on StarKiller (day attack using the Crait footage, night using Exegol footage)
 • Storyline revolves around finding Luke and fighting the Emperor + the super weapon.
 • Retool TLJ space pursuit & Holdo maneuver as part of the attacks on StarKiller / Exegol.
 • No Snooke, the heroes just fight Kilo and the Emperor.

This is what comes to mind thinking about the strongest sequences in the ST.

Return of the Jedi Renewed (released)
Time

OK, here’s my ROUGH outline of the Rebel reunion, a blueprint of what can be done with the existing footage.

Main changes:

 • Simple “I how you one” dialog right after leaving Tatooine, and we move to the rebel fleet
 • Luke comes in early with the generals
 • Luke is shown as part of the Resistance leadership.
 • Han’s team is already assembled

https://streamable.com/5lvil

Yes, sound it not seamless, Luke is missing from some wider shots, etc.
But it might be useful for IlFanEditore 😃

About the crawl I don’t understand “With the support of his allies”. Luke is supported by his friends.
There’s nobody else helping 😉

I like the atmosphere effect and color fix on the Deathstar. But forround is still brown and lacks contrast. Jedi is full of these compositing problems. It’s a shame they never recomposited the effects digitally…

On my end, after many tries, I think I’m able to edit the rebel briefing without Luke’s late arrival. And also place him a bit higher up on the Resistance hierarchy.

I don’t want to derail IlFanEditore’s thread so I’ll only post it here if he’s interested 😉
