Info Wanted: What is the Best Quality OT Fan Preservation Set?
Time
OCP's versions are very well done, however IMO they don't reflect the original versions as they still have SE material in them and they have that terrible "look" of the official DVD's. I guess that because that's what was used.

Dr. Gonzo's set is great. But my favorite has to be the EditDroid set. With the choice of the 2 crawls on ANH and the clarity is awesome.

CowClops V.2 is also pretty damn good, although, I have noticed that the black levels are set a little too high.

I also have the classic editions from OCPmovie (the creator of deleted magic)...which is a pretty interesting project (using the official dvds and removing the special edition stuff by replacing it with pieces off of the LD)

Well, most of it. A lot of SE stuff was left in.

I have reviewed Dr. Gonzo's set, CowClops V.2. and the EditDroid set. All are great quality transfers. I think the best is EditDroid. It gives you the option of the alternate opening crawls in Star Wars, however, I don't think they are anamorphic. I found that on the CowClops set, the black levels are a bit too high, and Dr. Gonzo's set is 'softer' than the others. However, if you want a great quality LD transfer, any of these will do. I have not yet seen any others.

I thought this was interesting - sound differences in OT releases
Time

I was reviewing my VHS copies of Star Wars, when I noticed this. There may be more, but I noticed two scenes with sound differences.

#1. Right after Tarkin says “…with one swift stroke.” The next shot, the slaughtered Jawa sequence. As the shot begins, it pans up with the droids. Now, in my 198?FS, 1990FS, 1992WS, 1993LDWS copies, R2 makes no sound. However, in my 1995 faces FS & WS, he does.

#2. The same goes for the scene in the cantina, after the stormtroopers walk by Han & Chewbacca. The close-up shot of Chewie’s face. Again, only in the 1995 faces WS & FS does he make a sound.

Does anyone know of these or any other sound ‘differences’?
