How would you feel if the director for Gone With the Wind went back and altered the movie and gave Atlanta a much bigger burning scene, filled with huge explosions and balls of flame because the movie was only a 67 year old draft and the "technology" didn't exisist back then to make bigger burning scenes.
See I don't mind argue with someone from the other side, and I have no problem with diverse opinions coming in here, but if you're gonna post stuff like this, why even bother?
I am trying to write my letter to Mr. Ward & Lucasfilm. But I suck at writing letters. Do you think it is a good idea to compose a 'generic' letter from all of you who have already done one? (The ones I have read sound really good by the way) I will fax and mail one every week until September. Maybe even longer.
Anamorphic or not, I don't feel it is as big as a deal for me as making sure that Luke's line of "You're lucky you don't taste very good" is still intact.
Call me crazy, but that is one of my biggest concerns as well.
The Star Wars trilogy comes out for a limited time as individual movie DVDs on September 12th -- complete with the unaltered original films as bonus material -- and will be available for pre-order starting this week. This is a chance for longtime fans to re-experience the movies as they originally played during their first theatrical releases, and an opportunity for new fans to see a bit of movie history. Each movie comes as a two-disc set -- one disc is the 2004 remastered version of the film, while the second disc is a version that captures its original theatrical presentation. For more information about this release, see the original announcement story here. StarWarsShop.com will be making Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi available for pre-order on Friday, May 12.
Here's a look at the cover art for this release. Done in the photo-montage style of previous DVD release, each movie mimics a poster design from the original theatrical campaign.
Here is what scares me...

Wow, who knew suggesting sending the SE discs to charity would get your fanboy panties all in a bunch? Go ahead, mail them to LFL..... apparently your immaturity knows no bounds. Lord knows some of you need something to complain about.
why don't you go tell George to send free DVD's to all the charities? He has all the money and all the extra '04 DVD's to give away, so go bother him. And maybe you should find out what the real meaning of "fanboy" is before you start talking out of your ass. (too late)
To everyone else...
The best way to do this is to do a mass mailing. One big box full of DVD's. No letter. That is straight and to the point. If there is to be a letter, the only thing it should contain is the quote from Lucas saying, "this is not to appease the fans, and this will proove what version they want," or whatever it said.
We should start a collection. Then send them FedEx priorty.
