Until The Hobbit films, ol’ VP was the most frightening movie dragon ever. And probably still is. I wish ILM had kept the Go Motion technique alive. I think it could still work in a CGI crazy world.

What the heck is this?

It’s a micky-take from the lads working on ROTJ - they put in a dragon from the 1981 film Dragonslayer and took a couple of photos for laughs, I think…

It’s THE dragon from Dragonslayer, Vermithrax Pejorative !

And yes, it’s a fun picture from the ILM guys.

Wow, it’s rare for me to see completely new photos from SW, I had no idea about this.

And in the time of greatest despair, there shall come a savior, and he shall be known as the Son of the Suns.

Nice obscure reference. Technically it’s concept art Yoda as that’s all Marvel had to work with.
I scanned the purple Yoda pages out of a crumbling paperback edition of the Marvel ESB adaptation several years ago. The Yoda pages were redrawn by the time the regular monthly issues saw print.

IIRC there were THREE different editions of that comic with various stages of Yoda-ness.

Really? What release was the third edition published in?

There was a magazine sized issue part of the Marvel Super Special run and an oversized giant edition.

Can’t recall what version of Yoda appeared in them though. I probably had the oversized edition but those things were hard to store with one’s regular sized comics.

I have the Norwegian version of that edition, and Yoda looks more or less normal in it. He’s still smaller than in the movie, but his face looks like the proper final design.

I’ve read (and own) several versions of Marvel’s ESB adaptation and I’ve only seen two versions. In both he’s too small, and in the second Williamson mostly just re-drew Yoda’s face/head.

The gradient shading in those pics! A great example of how “realistic” Special Editionist re-coloring of vintage comics has infected the modern comic book industry. Not even an inset illustration in a book can go without “improvement”.

ALLOL at the change in Lukes dialog. Went from simple and accurate to overly long and nerdy.

Yeah, the digital recoloring leapt out at me. Is nothing Star Wars safe from being revised?

Yoda still magically changes size throughout. At one point he’s small enough to stand on Luke’s shoulder!

Looking at that literally makes my eyes hurt. How anyone could believe that muddy, ugly shit-smear is an improvement over the original colouring is beyond my comprehension.

Little White Cuck Ball

This has probably been posted before, but I find it so hilarious that I cannot help posting it again.

“Little White Cuck Ball” and “Nebbish Beta Orbiter” are perfect lurker names.

I would hope not. Cuck has way too much baggage attached to it. It’s derogatory, offensive and borderline profanity in some corners of the net at this point. We’ve already had issues with offensive avatars in recent years.

Dare I even ask where that’s from?

No idea. I can remove it if it’s a problem, but the over-the-top derogatory labels are so plentiful that I am 70% certain that it’s a parody (and I meant that they’re amusingly dumb names for the Lurkers Name Suggestions Thread, not actual lurker names). I certainly took it as parody. There’s always the chance that it’s real, but that’s the internet.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

It’s from a much bigger, much more NSFW, and far more insane image accusing Star Wars of being some kind of mixed race relationship propaganda. That whole TFA boycott thing.

And I thought people who over analyze The Shining were kooks. 😉
