Heya! Would love a link to the V2 workprint, please. Also I love your work with the drawing of Ach-To in Rey’s home, would you be alright with me using that small shot with credit in my sequel trilogy edit?

Update, completed changes crossed out:
-Include deleted scene of Finn and the villager (Optional, probably not for V1).
-Insert a shot or two of Unkar Plutt in his first scene with him still not speaking.
-Finesse Leia’s audio during Poe Interrogation.
-Darken the sky when Finn wakes up from crash – more sunrise pink.
-Slightly darken some of the Falcon on Jakku shots so they aren’t blown out.
-Integrate Hux better in odd shot of first Snoke Scene.
-Change Obi-wan’s ‘Rey’ to audio of Luke saying her name.
-See if there’s an acceptable shot of Rey on the big wall to place before the troopers walk past.
-Remove timecode from Kylo Falcon scene.
-Put another shot of Han and Kylo gripping the saber after the sun goes dark.
-Quiet some of the sounds of the Starkiller firing.
-Tweak shot of Rey and Finn looking at Starkiller beam.
-Delete casual Resistance officer from Leia’s mourning.
-Make more definitive musical transition between Leia’s shot and Oscillator.
-If good audio is found, have Poe interject that he wants to ‘get even’ with the FO after the attack. Abandoned
-Add Sith eyes to Rey after her Force trance.
-Remove timecode from deleted scene of Rey.
-Add sinister whispers in Rey’s final dream, as well as the shot from her vision with Artoo and Luke.

Yep, though the other changes will be more technical and take more effort to achieve.
On a related note, I’ve been considering what to release as far as versions of the project, and I’m pretty sure there should be two versions: The first containing the original ending for people who want continuity between this film and the sequels, and the second incorporating the ‘Luke Vision’ ending. In addition, since the second version would be the more complicated one, it makes sense to reincorporate the delayed Starkiller firing sequence from act 3 that has been practically completed but abandoned in lieu of a more Restructured change. That way all of the major changes can be viewed in either version 1 or version 2.
This also means that the pared down V1 could be completed as quickly as it takes to remove the timecode of the Kylo Falcon scene and add the Sith Eyes to Rey.

I’ve just been made aware of the new Star Wars: Biomes and Star Wars Vehicle walkthroughs footage, and there’s some really nice stuff there for fanedits. Specifically, the closeups on the Falcon’s cockpit controls would probably work well with Kylo’s Falcon scene as he reminisces on his past.
Similarly, there’s a good shot or few of the interior of a FO Star Destroyer, in particular a slow zoom in on a door which could be used to make a better transition to Kylo’s prayer.

That’s super neat Nev, love the new establishing shot at the start! (This is the first time I’ve gotten a good look at it) However, I really hate to do this since I know timecode removal has taken years and been very tedious and exhausting, but in each of the two shots (of the snowtroopers and of Kylo) there’s a very brief few frames where the image wobbles slightly where the timecode should be. Specifically when the trooper in the background walks directly underneath it and when Kylo steps into the hallway. 😬 I feel like an ass for pointing out such a minor nitpick.
No worries, I’m sure there will be more work done on these shots before being finalized. Honestly the biggest part is getting in the headspace for devoting the hours to work on it, as the Snowtrooper shot has taken less than a dozen hours despite being by far the most complicated in the scene and the next shot only uses the content aware filter at the moment.

Brief update to the outstanding changes:
-Remove timecode from Kylo Falcon scene. (First 3 shots of 9 completed)
-Tweak shot of Rey and Finn looking at Starkiller beam.
-Delete casual Resistance officer from Leia’s mourning.
-Add Sith eyes to Rey after her Force trance.
I’ve also redone the shot of the Falcon going to Hyperspace from Jakku based on a suggestion by Adywan so that it jumps a bit earlier. This gives the shot a better flow and a chance to breathe before jumping into the next scene.

Cool cool cool. This project has come a long way, Nev.
Yeah, I’m really pushing to have this done before the 25th, fingers crossed 😉
The Kylo Falcon scene is really tough, I can only do one shot per day if I’m lucky, but I think the hardest shots were probably the first two and maybe the exterior of the Falcon.
Can’t wait to finally have a finished product soon!

How does the work process look like for the deleted scene:
Dude these clips are sick! May have a link to view your overall cut?

No worries, this was something I always intended to do at some point.
How does the work process look like for the deleted scene:
- PS, load every frame into it and then use the copy stamp to get rid of the time stamp?
My workflow is still essentially what was done for the Leia deleted scene from page 7 of this thread: https://originaltrilogy.com/topic/The-Force-Awakens-The-Starlight-Project-WIP-WORKPRINT-V2-RELEASED/id/54912/page/7#1147760
This time I am using After Effects, however, and it’s quite a bit more robust. It’s nice to be able to add grain as a simple effect without re-rendering the whole thing, for example. The tracking of the still image elements remains tricky, with the automated tracker working only about half the time and requiring manual keyframe animation the other half.

Thanks for the clarification 😃
I got my second Covid shot last week and it kicked my butt for a day or two, but I am back to working on the timecode removal! Shot 4 also kicked my butt, but at least it’s done and I’m officially over halfway done with the scene. 😃
