Disney doesn’t want to bring back anyone from prequels. They will have to eventually, but don’t expect it in Rogue One.

The actress playing Mon Mothma in Rogue One also played her in Episode III (though the scene was deleted).

Genevieve O’Reilly indeed. Nice move from Disney here. I hope it will lead Disney to release the PT deleted scenes in higher quality in a future box set.

I wish people would stop bringing up Disney when they discuss Star Wars. Yes Disney owns them but Lucasfilm is left to make the vast majority of decisions on their own.

People don’t blame Yum! Brands when KFC decides to switch up its menu. And this isn’t an issue with Marvel Studios so I don’t know why others persist on doing so with Star Wars.

If one is curious about the direction Star Wars is headed bring up Kathleen Kennedy and the Lucasfilm Story Group. They’re the ones piloting the ship.

Is there an non silly argument against palm trees existing in the Star Wars universe?

Ha ha ha… very, very funny mate. Good work. A well observed and pin point accurate parody of a modern Star Wars fan.

VIZ TOP TIPS! - PARENTS. Impress your children by showing them a floppy disk and telling them it’s a 3D model of a save icon.

If it ends up being a very obvious hommage to Full Metal Jacket, it would be distracting so “yes” would be my answer. Otherwise: I don’t know.

R. Lee Ermey as a Rebel Commander would be cool. 😉

The one thing I have spotted from the trailer that may or may not be inconsistent is that they are towing an x-wing through the door. And many Pilots are running out the door of Yavin Base

We all know they Take off inside the hanger and float gracefully out of the door in Star Wars. So I am just wondering if they have been relegated to a space outside the Temple.

It could be a ship that needs repair? There was an X Wing being moved in TFA as well.

There was a voice over line in Star Wars. “Open main launch tube.” So the squadrons may not have flown out the main doors.

Luke lifts off inside the Hanger and the hatch closes. He floats up probably on either wires or a forklift.

Launch Tube… any sketches for it?

I hope we get to see the Base in a matte shot towering above the trees though in this film.

They used a crane in Star Wars, and actually had to open up the roof of the soundstage to do it. (One of my favorite practical shots in the movie.) They did use forklifts for the snowspeeders lifting off in ESB.

I’m sure the launch tube was invented in post production, so probably no art. Surprised Lucas didn’t invent a new shot for the SE of the ships coming out of the temple. Instead, they pasted on CGI ships passing way too close to rebel scout guy on a stick, who doesn’t react to they are buzzing him.

“Launch tube” = no money for showing the ships actually flying out of the open hangar doors.

Which is also why there was a hangar in the first place. Ralph McQuarrie’s initial designs featured the Rebels having an open-air landing strip in the jungle clearing, but GL cut it for budget reasons before shooting.

“That Darth Vader, man. Sure does love eating Jedi.”

A landing strip would probably ruin the illusion of long abandoned ruins the Rebels wished to create as well.

Face palm trees more like.

I would love to see a film with middle aged Ben-Wan Kenobi living the desert life. Trading with Jawas, trying to earn the fear and respect of Tuskens. Dances with Wamp-rats.

Yes because new planets/locations in a Star Wars film is a terrible idea. Weren’t people bitching about TFA having such similar locations to planets in the OT?

Well, Pablo Hidalgo has given his answer to why we saw a “dish” on the Death Star framework in ROTS and the dish being installed 19 years later in the RO teaser.

How many star destroyers does it take to screw in an emitter dish?

Jakku was too much like Star Wars and the last planet was not enough like Star Wars.
