I don’t know if this is getting fixed or not, but I was watching the Grindhouse version of ESB last night and again was bothered by Lando’s flubbed line reading:

‘It’s always been a danger BUT it looms like a shadow over everything we’ve built here, but things have developed that’ll ensure security. I’ve just made a deal that will keep the Empire out of here forever.’

The word is AND.

Sometimes it’s the little things that annoy me.

Yesss… I know that was brought up years ago. I hope it’s been fixed.

One thing that bugs me in ROTJ is that, before the shot of Han and Lando talking about the Falcon, we get a clear view of the rebel hangar. And the matte painting during this specific shot shows the falcon on a raised floor while the shuttle clearly does not block the walkway between raised floor and the now lowered floor, Notice that the the Falcon is too close to the edge and a metal fence (or framework) is seen between the Falcon and the said lowered floor, no light is seen outside the right side of the ship. But the following shots does not show any raised floor or metal framework that exists and the floor is completely flat, Plus there are light sources, and the shuttle? It is now blocking the imaginary floor, but then, Poof! A bunch of boxes (objects) appear next to the shuttle. that was not previously seen in the pandown. So its just the rebel hangar changes between shots, But its just a matte painting, but since Adywan is a continuity Nazi, I think this can be his ultimate challenge.

Wrong thread. But on the topic of matte paintings, there actually was an alternate take of the hanger scene with the blue screen/painting that everyone hates. In the alternate take, there is only one short shot of Lando and Han infront of the obvious blue screen. In the final film however, there are more shots and they go on for far too long making the blue screen/matte painting stick out more obviously. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=651zrArouT0

Replacing the conjunction with a pause would have a similar effect. I quite like the line as is. It makes it sound like Lando is desperate to convince and nervousness has broken through the cool. But I wouldn’t rage quit the edit if it was smoothed out.

It’s not a big thing to leave it in, but to me it sounds like he’s trying to remember his lines instead of trying to cover up his nervousness.

Just to assure people, the Echo Base models will be used for hanger bay matte replacements in RotJR.

Yes, the matte paintings are sometimes inaccurate and needs to be rebuilt.

Well that already happened.

That’s from ROTJ right? That shot near the end always looked really off.
