Just watched Harmy's ESB today & noticed the stop motion Han & Tauntaun that appears through Ben's Ghost looks a bit odd....it looks a bit toyish, Han's head looks too big in scale to the Tauntaun.

Seems fine to me, but then I'm always distracted by how 'bandy-legged' the Tauntaun looks in that particular running shot... :)

Just spotted this on the facebook page.....

Well It looks great... I am not guessing how it's made... What I am wondering though is that if will soon have no space left in his house lol...

You must be doing quite a bit of manual work on all this... Pretty Amazing stuff anyway.

someone suggested the arm band restraints are made of carbonite... Quite like that.

Yes, I quite like that notion too which explains the current inconsistent footage between ESB and when Han is freed in ROTJ.  They just 'melted' away during the overall 'carbon' freezing process.  It's certainly an explanation that would have satisfied me a bit more over the years.

It looks great adywan, and look forward to seeing how things pan out with this eventually.

Anyone else a little uncomfortable with the coke bottle sticking out of his torso...?  ;)

It's to attach to his COLAstomy bag.

The bottle is there so Ady can make it obvious that Han is still alive and breathing. Leia doesn't trust Lando, and neither should the audience.

but if he is frozen - how can he breath or move ?

I always bougth Lando reading the Display, telling him that whatever is encased is OK ;-)

005 is joking i think....???

I thought the bottle was so it would be easier to carve the proper shirt

just don't trust Lando even if he is joking

Yes, jokes. I'm sure its there as a base so that Ady doesn't have to have a completely solid chest, as that would be a waste of material.

You continue to impress us with your outstanding models, Ady.

I'm sure this will be seen a couple times in ESB (I'm curious where), but I'm betting that this was created with ROTJ in mind too. During the thawing process for a better visual maybe?

Now on Facebook, there seems to a be a debate over how Han has his hands raised if he was cuffed. I say his wrists were definitely uncuffed when you see the Ugnaught come right in front of him tinkering at his wrists. His arm restraints are still there though, but that wouldn't hinder his ability to raise his forearms to how we see them frozen.

As for the arm restraints, I'm guessing these are the cuffs that Ady was talking about adding for ROTJ. That will be hard, but not impossible to do. I would have been willing to go along with them being melted away during the thawing process, as I've read some other people believing too.

Anyway, great work Ady and I'm looking forward to seeing the next pic of it completed!

Oh and did you get the new camera yet?

Yes, Ady has the new camera in hand. This model is going to replace all the shots where you can see Han's shirt, including the unfreezing in RotJ.

I've been away for a while,..what's the deal with this Han in carbonite?

It's a new Carbonite block to correct the continuity error in ESB and ROTJ (where frozen Han is wearing his ANH shirt in both movies).

Only just realised that the shot the new torso will be replacing is an iconic emotional closeup and in motion at that. A shot probably second only to "I know" in terms of heart-wrenching impact.

Adywan's got epic balls replacing a shot like that. Especially with the extreme lighting from the side revealing every detail in the sculpt.

Wonder how the problem of the shoulder restraints is gonna be solved? Remove them from ESB or add them to ROTJ? (Removal from the last shot of the sequence in ESB seems easiest to me).

You clearly both know him better than I.

He does have really maintained hair and an voluminous fully stocked biscuit barrel.

Not meaning to lead the current discussion off on a tangent, but seeing all those sparks reminded me of another scene and I just wanted to quickly ask if anyone else thinks this is a good idea:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OF-mZxhprVQ

I think whoever created that had the right idea of adding some sparks there.

make the lightsaber not sound like a bat hitting a metal grating.

Sorry but,

"like a bat hitting a metal grating" = what a lightsaber sounds like.

Sorry for bringing this back up, but I still beg to differ on the consistency of how a lightsaber sounds when hitting solid surfaces.

Episode IV: Vader hits the wall when Obi Wan moves out of the way during the duel, making a sound that "makes sense" for lack of a better explanation.

Episode V: Vader hits the wall and rails during the final part of the duel. The sounds are again much different from the strike on the floor, and sound good.

Episode VI: Luke's wild swinging of his lightsaber against the railings doesn't sound like the ESB strike at all. Though I imagine a rail would make a different sound than a grated floor anyhow. It still sounds right.

Episode I: Darth Maul's taunting of Obi Wan by hitting the floor seems like sort of a mix of Vader's floor strike and my mockup, though with the added mockup sound not as prominent, which I liked.

Episode II: No obvious examples.

Episode III: As Obi Wan and Anakin duel through a narrow hallway, their lightsabers hit the walls repeatedly, leaving sparks, brief glowing cut marks, and again a sound that doesn't quite match Vader's one strike to the floor, though it's not solid strikes and more like brushing against the wall.

By comparing them all, Vader's strike still sticks out a bit as an unfinished sound mix to me. This is not unheard of in ESB, as was pointed out with Leia and Han's kissing scene, in which the object Leia was trying to lock sounded like hallow plastic hitting more plastic, rather than metal mechanical parts clanking. In my mockup, I never REMOVED the sound, I only added a spark sound on top of it, though a bit loud so it would be clear for mockup purposes.

Ady, I just had to say that your talent seemingly has no boundaries. That sculpture looks outstanding. I really don't know how you did it, but wow! And like others have mentioned, this will be replacing a big shot. I can't wait to see how this works out.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck with the camera but glad to hear some generous people helped you out.

Also awesome to hear about the spider thingy maybe making an appearance. That ought to be cool.
