I don’t like Kerrnings shuttle or the U-Wing. But, both get destroyed in the film (way to spoil things, trailer) so the fact that we don’t see 'em again at least makes sense.
I don’t like the TIE Striker either. And I’ve a bigger issue with it than the other two ships. It seems like it serves the same job as the bomber, but looks like the bombers new replacement. So why not use the bomber? Is it just to have new ships in the movie? Hopefully the film will show us why we’ve not seen these things before and I also hope we find that it’s built for situations we don’t encounter in the OT. It’s got the long pod like the bomber, and that has me intrigued.

Another alternative explanation is that they reshot his scenes later and decided to change his look or were forced to if he was growing out his hair by that time for another role.

The new brand of TIE fighter looks like somebody just tore off one of the solar panels from the triple-winged cloaking TIEs in LucasArts’ Rebel Assault II.

It does kind of look like a Phantom, doesn’t it? Only differences are the aforementioned wing, and it uses a standard TIE cockpit rather than one that looks like it was ripped off the Falcon.

And the fact that we can actually see it.

Has anyone else noticed that Saw Gerrera looses his hair between the various clips shown in the trailer(s)?

Ooh, could this be a subtle homage to that mediocre remake of The Experiment he co-starred in?

Nah. Probably not.

Well, just for the sake of being thorough, here’s the new trailer trailer, or “trailer tease” as they’ve called it.
And this one is not a TV spot either, this is an actual trailer, for another trailer (modern Hollywood is weird).

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Jedha turned out to be the birth world of the Jedi Order (or at least the source of their name).

I think we have a winner.

I was kinda hoping there wouldn’t be a bunch of lame Force stuff in this. Sigh.

Isn’t that supposed to be Luke’s unpronounceable archipelago planet from TFA, though?

EDIT: I don’t feel like tracking down the video, but it looks like Donnie Yen let it slip that the Jedha-Jedi connection may have something to do with constructing lightsabers. I’m thinking crystals? Although there was already that Clone Wars ice planet.

Maybe “Jed” = The Force, “i” = “user of”, and “ha” = “land of”.

Gareth mentioned during the Rogue One panel that its only in there because Lucasfilm wanted to introduce it. So I figure it’s mostly used as a backdrop. Though I’m sure it’ll play some role in the characters of Chirrut Imwe and Baze Malbus.

I too would prefer a film completely devoid of the Force but there are too many out there with the very strict opinion that it isn’t Star Wars without it.

That aside though, I think it’s nice that they’re exploring the greater galaxy’s understanding of the Force. The original Star Wars hinted that it was viewed as a once popular religion. The Rebellion leadership would even end their briefings with “may the Force be with you.” So it would seem that it’s a belief that has a life outside of the Jedi Order alone.

Not too much new info, but interesting none-the-less.

(At least we have confirmation that Saw is first seen on Jedha. And the attacks on Jedha seen in the trailer and BTS video is therefore most likely one of his “terrorist” attacks.)

Me too. I’d kinda like to see a character who can do small things with the Force, but doesn’t understand why since nobody’s ever taught them about it.

I’ve always thought of that like people (religious or not) saying “God bless you”, “In God we trust”, swearing in on a bible, ect. Things that have carried over from a more religious age.

I would prefer a character who just believes in the Force and acts in accordance to what side of the Force they praise.

It would be fine with me if they broke away from the decades-long saturation of Force\Jedi\Sith.

I do like that Jyn says “may the force be with us” with a sort of snark in her voice. It would be nice if she had a Han Solo view of it as hokey. I’d dig it if it were in there solely to show this particular section of the universe either dismisses it or has no knowledge of it.

Well, it’s not like we’ll get any actual Force-users other than Vader (whose appearance I suspect will be quite short). And apart from Chirrut Imwe talking about the Force, it’s unlikely we’ll get anything specifically Force related. Even Jedha’s backstory has already been described as having been added by the story group for the sake of the EU. Kyber crystals wil probably be mined for the DS laser, but I doubt it will ever go anywhere beyond that (*maybe a brief mention of their use in lightsabers by Chirrut, or something like that).

Really like the trailer. Like it more than the trailer for Force Awakens. Like the trailer more than the Force Awakens movie so far.

My god the CGI for the Imperial ships looks great. Even the TIE near the end looks like a model, almost.
