I never watch older TV shows on TV anymore for just this very reason.
The original Battlestar Galactica is coming to METV on Super Sci-Fi Saturday Nights!
I am pleased! Why would you want to watch them chopped up to squeeze in more commercials?
I didn’t know that METV did that and I don’t like the show enough to care. It’s joining a great line up of shows. It’s the only block of TV I watch.
MeTV not only chops shows up, but even speeds shows up on occasion to fit in another ad or two. I don’t think I’ve ever caught an episode of Wanted: Dead or Alive that wasn’t playing too fast.

SONIC RACES THROUGH THE GREEN FIELDS.
THE SUN RACES THROUGH A BLUE SKY FILLED WITH WHITE CLOUDS.
THE WAYS OF HIS HEART ARE MUCH LIKE THE SUN. SONIC RUNS AND RESTS; THE SUN RISES AND SETS.
DON’T GIVE UP ON THE SUN. DON’T MAKE THE SUN LAUGH AT YOU.
Huh. I notice that on TBS, but never on METV.
An average one hour show today is barely 40 minutes these days without commercials. A typical uncut Galactica episode is 49 minutes. I’ve been watching the Blu Ray set lately, and it’s great they have the longer episodes in their original form. The only thing I miss from the old days is the cool commercial break bumper graphic the series had.

For a brief period in the early 80’s I could watch reruns of TOS, BSG, and Buck Rogers all on the same station. Sometimes on the same weekend! It’s curious the infamous Galactica 1980 wasn’t added to BSG to make a larger syndication package. The tv movies cobbled together from various BSG episodes also got a lot of airplay.
When a show is released uncut on DVD or Blu Ray, edited syndication versions become pointless. The Twilight Zone was massacred quite some time ago, even removing a pivotal scene from one episode just to cram in more ads. Rod Serling should come back and put them in the cornfield for that.
Where were you in '77?

This week will determine whether I can bullshit enough to become an engineer or to continue on with a life heading nowhere fast.
What’s with all the creeps with no avatars all of a sudden? People who only sign up to ask for spleen invites take the time to set up an avatar, but now some people who are joining in on conversations can’t be bothered?
Some long time users have no avatar either. 😉
Wish my old idea of generic default trooper avatars had been taken up.

I was among the no avatar users for a while as well (though I never had the consistency in seeding to even consider asking for a myspleen invite).

Hmm… well, I just can’t trust a faceless account.
I was very happy to see Disco_Lobot add one, as I liked the posts, but couldn’t handle the blank face.

Why was it shot down?

But now you have one. And now you’re my friend.
Was it worth it?
(say “Yes” or don’t answer at all. I can’t take the rejection.)

You’re weird.

And now the shoe is in the other house.

*sigh*
Just kiddings!
I never was a faceless account. I picked out this awesome picture for my avatar before ever posting IIRC.
Hey, all in favor of me going back to that say aye!
Or don’t…
I’ll probably do it anyway…

It wasn’t shot down. The thread just petered out.

I just got used to everyone’s avatars, and now everyone’s changing them again.
I’ll have to change mine again soon. The current one I have was to make a statement; it doesn’t make good regular use imo.

Not to worry. The Terrible Trivium is transitory. I shall don the X-ray specs anew momentarily.

How about you go with Prometheus? He was a Titan, and he gifted flame to mankind. . . . 😛

A fitting image. I might also try to make a design of my own, or just use the portrait I made for a D&D character I never got to play if it comes down to that.
Speaking of Avatars, did Frink remove his?
