Well if Daniel Craig’s a no-go, From Russia With Love is my favorite. But Casino Royale is my favorite overall.

From Russia With Love it is!
The Person in Question
I’ll be watching a James Bond film this evening. The first recommendation will be what I watch.
(No Daniel Craig films)
Watch Casino Riyale anyway and realize how ridiculous that exclusion is.
But if not Russia is definitely the way to go. If time for another, OHMSS.
I felt like watching a film from the original timeline.

Birdman 9/10
Interesting but weird, all of the performances were spectacular and Inarritu/Lubezki’s cinematography was amazing. Check it out!

American Pie Presents: Beta House - 10/10
I liked American Pie, and when I saw they put a couple of the sequels up on Netflix I decided to give The Naked Mile a Try. By the time he jizzed on his grandma, I’d had enough, and I think that was less than 10 minutes in.
Should I give Beta a try or won’t I like it given my review of Naked Mile?
I would put this in my sig if I weren’t so lazy.
I’d say based on the score of the other film in that post he was joking about even liking that one.
…it just seems like you’re trying to be “that guy” again. That’s all.
?
On occasion you say things that make you come off as wanting to be unique. And no your opinion on TFA isn’t one of them.
I guess I can’t deny that. The main point is that I had no idea how much universal acclaim and belovedness the film had before that conversation. (I don’t think I’ve ever particularly cared about its .)
Have you never talked with someone about Toy Story 2 before? You’re the only person I have ever met that has not liked it.
I don’t think I’ve really ever talked to anyone about it outside of my family (in which I don’t think anyone considers more than sub-par). I may have had a short conversation about it with a friend once (when watching the first film on television), but I can’t remember if we talked about the sequels.
LuckyGungen gave a score that I found unreasonably high, and it seemed to me that he was most likely pulling his love for it completely out of blind nostalgia (not to offend or insult your taste, LuckyGungen).
I don’t like the film and I wasn’t being a cynical contrarian with my statements.
Well you called it a “cash grab sequel” because reasons which fits the cynical aspect and you dislike a film (including Rambo) most like which fills the contrarian part.
Rambo: First Blood Part II has a 30% on RT. I’d hardly consider that a film “most people like”. And I do love First Blood.
All of my statements were made on the basis of my opinion of the film. Simply having an opinion in the general minority doesn’t make me a contrarian if I wasn’t stating that differing opinion to be unique in the crowd.
And before you say anything I can be considered somewhat of a contrarian as well with some of my opinions but I think it’s the way in which you present your point of view. In your case I couldn’t shake off the feeling that you were perhaps trying a bit to hard considering it’s a kids film and not something like The Godfather.
I maybe stated my opinion harshly with the “crappy” part. But like I said before, a kids film being a kids film doesn’t automatically grant forgiveness for it being annoying and void of feeling (in my opinion, of course).

O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000) - 8/10
Really enjoyed it. Had fun characters and a great soundtrack.

I actually own that soundtrack but not the movie.

Probably too late, but I’m throwing out The Spy Who Loved Me.

I would say “Licence to Kill (1989)” It’s got a vibe so removed from the others before it.

One of those movies I just couldn’t get into and couldn’t like. It had that whole “hey look, we’re being existential!” air to it that kind of turns me off. I loved the idea of Keaton playing a form of himself, but the execution was lame to me.
Toy Story 2 is better than a “kids film.”
Even further, Toy Story 3 is a damned emotional raping.
O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000) - 8/10

One of, if not the, best movie of George Clooney’s career. Plus, it had real music.

Seems like I said this recently, But I LOVE that film.
I probably quote Everett McGill more than any other fictional character.

Honestly I’ve never sat down and watched 3 all the way through for some reason. My girls have watched it several times so I have seen parts here and there.
I really should take the time to watch it.
I felt like watching a film from the original timeline.
Fair enough, though I feel “timeline” and continuity in general mean very little in this series.

Well Craig uses some gadgets which he aquired in previous movies.
So yeah, as far as we know, the bond movies are one linear timeline.

Eh, not at all. Casino Royale was clearly a reboot. He wasn’t even a double-0 at the beginning. There’s certainly continuity within the Connery films, within the Brosnan films, within the Craig films. But no sense of continuity between these eras in the series.
I would put this in my sig if I weren’t so lazy.

Sure, but ever since I was a child I’ve always liked thinking that the first 20 films are all part of one singular timeline.
EDIT: I guess there weren’t 20 yet when I first started thinking this, but you know what I meant.

Just make sure that there isn’t any catshit in your house you’ve been too lazy to clean up, or you might end up just seeing it as a scrappy cash-in sequel.
Ha!
