Secondly

-----------

Out of curiosity : How often do you watch any of the original trilogy,

SW, TESB, ROTJ [any format of the OT, vhs/laserdisc/dvd ]

during a given time period?

===============================================

every few days?

every few weeks?

every few months?

a few times a year?

over a period of years?

===============================================

just wondering ....

i fall into the very last category.

At the moment I seem to watch bits of each film every day.

Lightsaber duel or Hoth Battle from Empire mainly, or the duel from Sith.

My little boy has just really started to want to watch them, if in small doses. But then he's only 4 in December, so the whole film might be a bit much.

But he loves watching Luke's hand getting chopped off, and Anakin getting fried.

I think there may be something wrong with him...lol

I think the last time I watched any of the films all the way through must have been Adywans Star Wars revisited.

I've seen the OT waaay to many times in my life.

I usually watch them at least three or four times a year.  It really depends on when I get into a Star Wars kick.  Right now I'm in one, and I watched the trilogy twice in a row, but now I'm kicking back and reading for the first time the X-Wing series of novels... and I must say they're kicking a whole lot of ass!

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

ok,

i'll admit it also.. ever since i found this board,

i've been watching something star wars related (not necessarily the OT)

EVERY SINGLE DAY..

whether its a new clip from adywan, a fanedit,

a laserdisc, a CED/DVD or whatever , i'm just FLOODED with Star Wars video right now..

i have at least 20-30 versions lined up to be watched, include 6 or 7 high

def ones (including the PT too)..

i've got full screen versions, making ofs, thx, non-thx, the list goes on and on..

i've been watching the clone wars movie (shhhhhhhhhh) every other day now

since it came out at home.. (*AHEM*).....

and of course i've been playing around with video samples, and scripts too.....

this is the BEST time i've ever had to be a Star Wars fan ....

oddly, i haven't been able to watch a single movie in its Entirety though...

i usually watch them through once every few years.... mabye this year

will be the one, i finally get to watch the OT in high def, well if we get

if finished, that's my vow ....................i will not watch other OT versions

until we get the transfer completed somehow..

A couple of times a year. I used to watch more often, though. I watched Star Wars every single time it aired on HBO in 1983, and they were showing it a few times a day. :-P

Maybe once a month?  Or the entire trilogy once every 2 months?

I watch with my 2 daughters.  Once we watch one of them, they usually beg for the other 2 to be viewed in the next week or so.  We watch the GOUT.  Before that it was the Dr. Gonzo transfer, and before that it was my own edit from a FS VHS set.  Since my eldest at the time was a bit young, i edited out things like smoldering aunt & uncle, some of the wampa, Han being tortured.... things like that.  She also didn't like the emperor, so i edited out nearly every close-up of him.  Surprisingly, his dialog was well-divided between distant shots and close-ups, so the story could still be followed!  Anyhow, I put all three on a single VHS in SLP mode (!), and even put the Boba Fett HS Nelvana cartoon on there between SW and ESB.

We've also watched Adywan's Revisited, Revisited Purist, and EditDroid Isolated Score in lieu of the GOUT.

a few times a year,

although there is one extra special time of the year in which I have a Star Wars Marathon, meant to celebrate the anniversary of when My academic career finally took a major turn for the better:

May 15th: Star Wars: A New Hope (GOUT)

May 16th: Empire Strikes back (2004)

May 17th: Return of the Jedi (GOUT), immediately followed by the "Ave Maria" Finale of Walt Disney's "Fantasia".

The fantasia DVD sits in the box that originally came with the 2004 release with the other discs as specified above, all with my own custom cover art.

 he he..

maybe you should release a 'kid-friendly' edit version here on the board..

i'm sure a lot of people have kids that would like that..

Seen them all many times but there's days I tend to watch them very rarely. ie: once a fortyear or so. But like a lot of the others I tend to see something star wars related fairly often.

Like Hotrod I've watched those films far too much in my life, but I haven't seen them for a few years now - I own the controversial theatrical cuts Lucasfilm released a couple of years ago but I haven't watched them yet because I'm trying to wait a few years so I can forget all teh PT na dspecial edition nonsense and just watch the OT in it's pure form and have my memories back :)

Sounds mad I know.

War does not make one great.

How do you generally choose to watch Star Wars?

- GOUT
- customised GOUT (anamorphic, alternative audio, etc.)
- old LD rip
- 2004 DVD
- HD-rip
- fan edit (e.g. Adywan's revisited)

or any of the above depending on what mood you're in?

I haven't watched them for a couple of years. Overexposed and soured... :/

Darth Lucas: I am altering the trilogy. Pray I don't alter it further.

Are we talking just the originals? Because the SE has been airing on TV a lot recently and I've probably seen it three or four times this year just by catching it on the tube that way. Otherwise I'd say I watch Star Wars and Empire maybe once or twice a year, and Jedi probably once every other year, if that.

Wow, I have not seen them in years. Back in 2005 when ROTS came out, my friends were having a SW marathon, but I never actually caught more than 15 to 20 minutes of any of the films, pretty much I helped set of the projector, ate a bowl of popped corn, got bored and left. Last time I watched any piece of an SW film was right after Adywan released his SW Revisited, but I did quite a bit of skipping around, only took me a half hour to get from the beginning to the end, tried not to miss any of his changes, but I probably did.

I pretty much memorized them when I was kid, so I do not often feel the need to see them anymore. I have never even seen the 04 SE, nor ever watched the GOUTs, only SW DVDs I have watched from star to finish are my old TR47s (whatever their real name is). One thing that would spark my interest to see them again would definitely be a quality DVD and/or Blu-ray release. If that happened I would lock myself away in front of the TV for three eveings in a row.

Same for me. The other night I wanted to watch the duel and finale from Jedi (the GOUT version, of course). I get the urge to watch certain scenes like I get the urge to listen to a favorite song.

The only time I really watch them from start to finish now is if I'm showing them to someone who hasn't seen them before. I love watching people's reactions. :-)

I watched ESB in whole just a couple months ago, with the commentary track on to try to find things that might need tweaking for ESB:Revisited.  I watched ANH:Revisited just before the XVID came out, and maybe once on DVD-5, but not the DVD-9 all the way through.

Other than that, the last time I watched the movies completely through was my sophomore year of college (2002-2003) to show them to a friend who hadn't seen them all.  I started with Episode I and II, skipped III because it didn't exist yet, then watched the OT over the course of a month or so.  I guess we also just watched the 97 SE tapes since the DVD wasn't out then.

I have been avoiding watching the actual films for quite a while (don't want to burn out on them!), and instead I have been watching tons of peripheral material.  You know: commercials, making-of specials and documentaries, spoofs, the Holiday Special, etc.  It's a way to get my fix of Star Wars without overdoing it on the films.

When I do watch parts of the films, it's the GOUT I watch.  Doesn't look too bad blown up on my 24" widescreen CRT monitor using WinDVD as the player.
