Help: looking for... AOTC - Centropy 3-disc SVCD telesync?

Author

 (Edited)

Anyone who has the Centropy telesync of Attack Of The Clones, please PM me. It was originally a 3xVCD release that showed up shortly after the film was in theaters. Most people probably had no reason to keep it around after the real DVD came out.

I will post links to screenshots of this version here later tonight.

Which prompts me to wonder, Why do you want it?

(I've got the timecoded version, but I never grabbed the Centropy version. Sorry!)

I might have the Centropy release, but it'd be 2 AVI files probably recoded from the VCDs. I do know I have a telesync of the theatrical release somewhere, though. I can try to dig it up when I get home.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

How good a copy is that theatrical release? I need a good quality shot of the different wedding scene, and clean audio of the padme after falling from the gunship for The Clones Revealed

I remember the quality being pretty standard for a telesync release. Dark picture, not really cropped properly, but pretty decent audio. For The Clones Revealed, the limited source material may prove usable.

The real answer:
Assuming it's the theatrical 35mm version and not the theatrical digital version, it's the only known evidence of the changes made between the film version and the digital version. I did some research, and the Centropy version appears to be the best copy out there. Which should answer your question as well, daveytod. Sadly, there seems to be no evidence of any telecine copies of this particular cut of the film that I can find.

Timecoded... are you talking about ROTS or AOTC here? I've never heard of a timecoded AOTC in public hands, but we've heard plenty about the ROTS one.

My bad. Of course I'm talking about ROTS, and not AOTC. Even less help now, aren't I?

The screenshots I have on this guide were taken from a borrowed 2xVCD cam of AOTC.

Back in May 2002, I was told that this was the "BEST" version available.

That does look pretty good. Can't say for sure if it's the Centropy verson or not, but it's at least close if not.

Here are the Centropy version screenshots.

Apparently the Centropy copy has its own logo at the beginning of the film, which should make identification easier.

EDIT: On checking, I think this may actually be your version here. And here, I think, is my copy - complete crap.

The Centropy release was on 3 SVCDs, apparently.

Ooh... caps from the best scene of the film!

Looks like it could use a hotspotting filter in AviSynth, but this version looks better than I expected.
Author
Time
Yeah. There's a filter that will help to even out the "lighting". I don't think it can completely fix blown-out white areas (that info's gone for good), but it can make the image look less bright in the middle and dark at the edges.

I've got a 1 cd sized xvid I'll post some scene stills asap.

I have it converted to DVD. Quality isn't too bad but you can tell it was souced from VCD.

I believe that Centropy's SVCD version was sourced from a PDVD that was released at the same time way back in 2002.

Yes, that appears to be true. So in its original form, it would have been 3 SVCDs, or 3 separate ~700 MB files, I imagine.

I haven't received any PMs so far, so I assume nobody turned up a copy of the 3xSVCD (or 3 separate files) Centropy version?

daveytod: if it ever turns up, the Centropy AOTC is the one you want for your clips.

And Jabberdoo, I'd love to see some screen shots of your version.
