So I discovered (or rather re-discovered) this little oddity when I was rummaging through some old boxes full of old stuff that I had as a kid.

I think that the kit-mashing of recognizable Star Wars and Star Treck ships was intentional. I mean, the album has music from both franchises…

I find this thing fascinating. I’m pretty sure it’s not officially licensed by whoever owns all this music (There’s no Lucasfilm or 20th Century Fox logo on it, etc.).
It’s so bizarrely random. It’s called “Star Wars”, but has the wrong font, the choice of music is completely random, and I can’t wrap my head around that cover art.

I mean it’s clearly a ROTJ speeder-bike with a bunch of randomly kit-bashed parts added to it. And the main body in the back looks like the Voyager (Star Trek) only up-side-down. But why though?
Seriously, what is this supposed to be? It’s in space, yet it has handlebars.

Has anyone else seen this?
(Judging by the inclusion of TPM music, but nothing from ATOC, as well as including some music from a film called “Ice Planet” made in 2001, not to mention that I had this as a kid in the very early 2000’s, I’d say this must have been made in either 2001 or 2002.)

EDIT: Here’s the music list on the back; https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/20535561/SW weird music collection (music list).jpg

That’s some pretty ugly kitbashing on the cover. Possibly the worst I’ve ever seen. Slam the secondary hull of Voyager and a Kazon ship onto a Speeder Bike, and call it a day! 😉

Oh, that’s just the tip of the 80’s bad kitbash iceberg. 😉

Yeah, but why not use ships of equal scale? Even bad 80’s Scott Baio movies did it better! 😉

Now that would have made a lot more sense to me.
Sure. it’s still kind of ugly and weird-looking, but it’s obviously a SW/ST mash-up. Unlike the actual CD cover which kind of try to hide it’s kit-bashing. Sure, to a SW fan it’s obviously a speeder-bike, but there does seem to be at least some attempt at obscuring the origin of the parts.

I know. And Hasbro could make it for real if they still have the G.I. Joe Terror Drome molds. They probably still have that mantra that “playsets don’t sell” though. Nevermind the playsets that came out in the 90’s were teeny tiny and lame compared to the Kenner era.

Wait, are there good Scott Baio movies?

Somehow I don’t think it was built to scale.

They even threw in the Emperor’s Throne Room from the second DS for some reason.

I just previewed a bit of the TN1 v 1.6 and was wondering what audio track they used? The reason I ask is I noticed a scene which I havent heard in many years. The chasm scene and the echoes of Luke and Leia. I know this has been mentioned in other threads, but I have no idea where, so I thought Id ask here. Is the delayed, extreme echo version what was in the theatres or was it a TV thing? I just cant remember. But I do distinctly remember hearing it many years ago and then noticing when it was changed.

I listened to Despecialized, and the echo is on the 5.1 recreation, the Stereo recreation, and the both of the laserdisc mixes.

Notably, it is not on the mono mix, which as I understand is what the special edition based most of its sounds on.

EDIT: As for what SSE used, if it’s similar to the 1.0 release, it uses the '93 laserdisc, best as I can tell.

I remember a mention in a thread somewhere around here that addressed this particular mix. The 2011 BD didnt have the distinct echo delay, but the GOUT does. I more or less wondering, what is the real mix and when was it changed?

It’s so weird to me that people say that the band in the bar in Star Wars only played one song on repeat. They play that one song once and then play another that nobody remembers and that song gets the bigger cheer from the audience!
Idiots!

Agreed.

We were in the cantina for, what, ten minutes or so? How many songs were they supposed to play?

I’ve personally always gravitated to the second song. Particularly the part in which Han blows Greedo away.

The worst case of the repeating song problem is in the Cantina scene in the Holiday Special. It’s like a loop in an audio mixing program. It drives me insane, like everything in the Holiday Special.

I do like the song everybody forgets better than the popular one for what it’s worth.

Part of the problem may be that the second song was never released as a single, and wasn’t even included on the soundtrack album until that anthology set in 1993?

They should have played Rock Lobster once.

It’s too long! The whole cantina scene would have just been Rock Lobster!
