Rip in peace.

Keep Circulating the Tapes.

How would Jedi fare against earth weapons? I imagine the light sabres could instantly melt a bullet, but seeing them would be another thing. I imagine they could slow time down and duck them like Neo tho.

those images don’t show up for me either but I think TPM’s grading is bad both ways.

Ahh jeez.
They work for me.

I’m pretty sure force speed slows everything down. So yeah, you could dodge bullets with it.

So why did they use tapes in Star Wars? They have advanced technology. Why would they use something as inconvenient as a tape?

The somewhat obvious answer to that would be that back in the 70’s most forms of recorded medium would be referred to as “tapes”.
(It’s exactly the same as when someone in an 80’s sci-fi film set in the future uses a floppy disk.)

I’m sure people in the future will chuckle at the sci-fi films of today whenever someone mentions “discs” or “hard-drives”, etc.

People still refer to blueprints as blueprints even though they aren’t blue anymore.

We didn’t actually see tapes though. And Princess Leia is either using a memory card to put the plans in Artoo, or checking her bank balance.

Tapes may simply be an archaic term still in use that refers to newer technology, much like when people say they filmed something with a digital camera.

Well, obviously, they could have redubbed the lines in either the 2004 or 2011 release. Either get the actor back or a sound alike to say data discs or data card.

Or maybe you should accept the &@#^ing movie for what it #^$^ing is – a #&(%@**#$#ing product of its @$%&#$@#$&ing times.

I think Star Wars has suffered enough attempts to de-1970’s it already.

Besides, Admiral Motti was into 8 track tapes. 😉

“I want to know what happened to the 8-track tapes they sent you.”

That would have dated it.
