The Fantastic Four (1994) – C

This film is so odd. It’s coherent, and I actually really liked it. Honestly, I think the only thing wrong with it was how low a budget it was forced under. I definitely recommend giving it a watch if you like comic books/comic book movies.

Army of Darkness: The Medieval Deadit | The Terminator - Color Regrade | The Wrong Trousers - Audio Preservation
SONIC RACES THROUGH THE GREEN FIELDS.
THE SUN RACES THROUGH A BLUE SKY FILLED WITH WHITE CLOUDS.
THE WAYS OF HIS HEART ARE MUCH LIKE THE SUN. SONIC RUNS AND RESTS; THE SUN RISES AND SETS.
DON’T GIVE UP ON THE SUN. DON’T MAKE THE SUN LAUGH AT YOU.

What do you think about Fant4stic

^Haven’t seen it yet. All I know is that the '94 film is better than the '05 film, and is most likely better than Fant4stic (just based on what I’ve heard and the little clips I’ve seen)

I’ve wanted to watch the 94 movie ever since I learned of its existence. Haven’t found it anywhere, though I can’t say I’ve looked very hard.

There are two uploads of the whole thing on youtube (I just watched the widescreen one), and the spleen has a custom DVD set that I think I’m going to grab sometime. It’s titled: The Fantastic Four (Ultimate Edition)

I saw flashes of the latest Fantastic 4 over someone’s shoulder on the flight back home from Canada a few months back.

It was really bad even in that context.

Keep Circulating the Tapes.

Certainly better than that lame movie with the bleached blonde Hispanic with blue contact lenses.

Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011) - B

The plot was convoluted, and the villain was underdeveloped and had a stupid plan, but the film was well directed and had excellent, fun characters. It was also relentlessly entertaining.

Not enough people read the EU.

I also watched two very different, very great Edgar Wright comedies.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010) - A-

The characters were extremely fun and endearing, particularly Michael Cera as Scott, who, despite not being that great of a person, is easily likable. The villains were all hilariously hammy, my favourite being Satya Bhabha as Matthew Patel, whose one single scene is absolutely side-splitting. The script is witty and charming, with my only problem being the lack of personal moments between the characters. The fight scenes were also great and the film had a good soundtrack.

The World’s End (2013) - A

Once more, the characters in this film are well developed and likable, and the five main actors have terrific, hilarious chemistry with one-another. The twist around the middle is funny, and the action scene in the bathroom is one of the funniest fight scenes ever put to film. Unlike Scott Pilgrim, this film did have several touching moments, particularly a tense moment towards the end between Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. The film also has brilliant direction and a great ending.

Not enough people read the EU.

Yep, lack of touching personal moments really hurts it, especially in contrast to the graphic novel series that’s just full of them. If you haven’t read the books, I highly reccomend them.

Batman (1989)-Love it. Probably the best batman movie out there. I give it 8 out of 10 rubbed rhubarbs.

  NEIGHBORS 2
Haven't seen the first one. Heard it was funny and tried the second.
Didn't quite work for me. Might have worked better flipped with emphasis on the girls and their effort to create their little society and fend off the kooky adults.
Cast seemed to have the comedic chops but not the situation or material.

X-Men: Apocalypse

Takes a while to get going, but I don’t think any of it could really have been cut. It feels like it shouldn’t have been 2 and a half hours, and yet it almost really had to be.

Some of the CGI is bad, though most of it is fine.

It may be my favorite cinematic representation of the X-Men team because it actually is a team. For only the second time, an X-Men movie was actually about the X-Men and not “Wolverine: Guest starring The X-Men”. Wolverine only has a brief cameo.

B+

Just watched The Dirties. Absolutely chilling mockumentary about school-shootings and what causes people to commit them. The lines between what’s a movie and what isn’t are blurred, for good reason that I’d rather not spoil. My heart was racing when it was over.

Philosophical question: If it’s intentional, does it still suck?

Adaptation (2002) - B+

It was really, really good. Nic Cage had excellent chemistry with Nic Cage, and the writing and direction are top notch. Sadly, every time Nic Cage wasn’t on screen the movie dragged and I was just waiting to get to the next scene. I really enjoyed it despite this though,
