Judging from the teaser, this will be way
more interesting than TFA.

I doubt it could be any less interesting, but you are right, I should not let myself be surprised.

When it comes to stuff like this I try to keep my expectations at a minimum. Especially for a film such as this when I already know the outcome of. I’m hoping it’s better than TFA but I wont even consider that it could until I actually see it. No need to disappoint myself.

How did that fix anything? The “judging from the trailer” part already made it a provisional statement. “Could” isn’t needed.

For one you can’t surmise the quality of a finished product just from a teaser trailer. And secondly the finished product could be not as good as the movie you’re comparing it to.

November 1998: ‘the Phantom Menace looks AMAZING from the trailer - every journey has a beginning!’

May 1999: ‘…’

I have never said it looks good or amazing. I said it looks more interesting.

But even then it’s just a trailer…a teaser trailer no less.

That is what the concept of teaser is all about, to try to get you interested. If it matters to you, TFA teaser failed to do so for me and in the end film was actually not interesting.

This film may let you down even more. You won’t know until you actually see it.

Are you two really arguing about this? Imperialscum was intrigued by this trailer, but not the trailer for TFA and the actual film itself didn’t interest him. End of story.
We’ve been through this before, I see no reason to argue about it.

I didn’t say he had to like TFA or it’s trailer. I’m just saying to not get your hopes up. That’s all.

Sure, I’m just saying that these arguments rarely go anywhere.
The same happened with the TFA trailer and all some people accomplished was to agitate each other over a film that hadn’t come out yet.

That video would’ve given me a craving for vodka if I was at all capable of stomaching the stuff.

But now we get TFA which has a young woman as the main hero followed by Rogue One which has AGAIN a young woman as the main character. They’re just repeating the formula too soon - that’s the only thing which I was trying to say.

Just because they both have a vagina, doesn’t mean Disney is repeating formula.

There had to be a better way of saying that.

That’s implicit in disclaiming “from the trailer”.
